  1. My wife has asked me to send her a passport photo of myself as the school have asked her for it. Has anyone ever been asked for this? I live in the UK so it is a bit of a fuss. She says it is for security reasons.
  2. My understanding is that as I am from the UK I can now stay for 45 days without a visa up until 31 March 2023. So, if I was to get there on 17th March, I would get 45 days, so I could stay until 30th April 2023? Is this correct? What do you think the chances of this new agreement being removed?
  3. Thank you khunPer that makes sense. I was under the impression my daughter was at a public school but it must be a Thai kindergarten.
  4. Hi. My daughter is 4 and attending a local kindergarten. It isn't a private international school. I have just been told it is 15400b school fees for the second term. It isn't a lot of money but seems strange to be asked for this as I thought it was free. Is this a normal charge?
  5. Does anyone know the typical term dates for Thai kindergartens (not international schools)? My daughter is 4 and attends one in Bangkok. My understanding is that it is early May to late September. Then mid October to early March. Is that about right? Trying to get the exact dates off my wife has been a bit tricky!
  6. Cheers. I went to Hua Mak in the end. Hua Mak opens 1pm on Monday and 7am from Tuesday to Sunday. Here are the session times: 7-9 9-30 - 11.30 12 - 1 lunch 1 -3 3.30 - 5.30 6-8 Close 50b entry. Proper swimming gear only (nobody checks)
  7. Do you know of any? I used to go for years to a 25m outdoor pool in Ramkhamhaeng soi 21 (Wangthonglang) but it has turned into some sort of swimming club and there is nobody to ask if I can still use it. Does anyone here still use it? I know there is one at Hau Mak (Rajamangala Stadium) but I can't see if it is open to the public, what times, cost etc. Does anyone know and use it?
  8. mrwebb8825 you have lost me. I arrive in Thailand on 3rd September and leave Thailand on the 2nd October.
  9. I get a 30 day visa exemption on arrival from the UK. Arriving Sept 3rd leaving 2nd October - does that cover me? That adds up to 30 days by my reckoning so I think should be ok. Does anyone have any experience of leaving on the last day of the visa?
  10. I am coming to Thailand for 30 days. I am fully vaccinated. Do I show my pass on my phone or do I have to print it out? Is it checked by Airline and Thai officials? Apart from that and wearing masks on the plane is it back to normal pre-Covid times now? I get a 30 day visa on arrival. Arriving Sept 3rd leaving 2nd October - does that cover me? It should do by my reckoning but I could get an extension if not.
  11. Thanks. Believe it or not, I already looked on Wikipedia! I am in the Ramkhamhaeng area. Is there a website the equivalent of OFSTED for Thailand? I can translate it from Thai to English so I don't have to worry about that.
  12. How do I find out a list of state nurseries (kindergarten) and primary schools in the Bangkok area? Every time I do a search it only shows international schools, which are far too expensive for me.
  13. Can anyone recommend one for my 3 year old girl, soon to become 4. Cheap private schools as well (if there is such a thing).
  14. I have just recovered from Covid after 3 vaccinations. I am thinking of travelling to Thailand in late April or May 2022. I am concerned about failing the PCR test as I know it stays in the body for 90 days. Has anyone any experience of getting into Thailand in this situation? I have my results all recorded on the NHS App. I went to Thailand in December 2021 and it all went well.
  15. Has anyone heard of direct flights from London Gatwick to Bangkok with Scoot? Has anyone used them? They certainly slipped under my radar. Book Cheap Flights & Airline Tickets Online for Your Next Holiday (flyscoot.com)
  16. I have had my antigen test (LFD) from a recognised hospital and filled out the passenger locator form. I will print these out and also a copy of my vaccination status. Do you think I need anything else apart from the usual passport etc? Has anyone had recent experience of this?
  17. Thanks. You don't need to take a PCR test to return to the UK: Type of test The test must meet performance standards of ≥97% specificity, ≥80% sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml. This could include tests such as: a nucleic acid test, including a PCR test a LAMP test an antigen test, such as an LFD (lateral flow device) test You must check with your test provider that the test meets the standards. You may not be able to travel if it does not. The test could be: a face-to-face or in-person test a self-administered test with video or photo verification Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing before you travel to England - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) I am going to get an antigen test at Ramkhamhaeng Hospital on the 30th. It has been approved by the Thai Government: Register - Ram Drive Thru (ram-hosp.co.th)
  18. As my flight leaves on the 31st 21:00) I think I can take the test on the 29th as well, which give me a bit of leeway as I thought it was 48 hours from departure: When to take your test You must take the test in the 2 days before your service to England departs. For example, if you travel directly to England on Friday, you could take a test any time on the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The test result must be available for boarding. If your journey to England is a multi-leg journey, you can take the test in the 2 days before the start of the first leg. It would be great to hear from people who have done this though. I am kicking myself that I didn't bring a test from the UK. It would have saved this hassle.
  19. Does anyone have any idea where I can go for this or if I can get one from a pharmacy? I am flying back to the UK on 31st Dec so I need to complete it on the 30th. I am in Wangthonglang / Ramkhamhaeng area not far from the Rajamangala Stadium. Has anyone recently completed one? What did you have to show at the airport in Bangkok? Was there a long queue?
  20. Do you know how to listen or watch The Ashes when in Thailand? I managed to get a link to Test Match Special last time I was in Thailand.
  21. Also, what happens if you do test positive 48 hours before departure? How do you extend your visa? How can you change your flight?
  22. This has just been introduced. I am due back to the UK on the 31st Dec. Any idea if these are easy to obtain in Bangkok? I will be staying near the Rajamangala Stadium. I am due to go to Thailand on Wednesday 8th Dec - I am just praying Thailand won't introduce anything new rules.
  23. Thanks DrJack. I presume it would still mean that I have to pay to amend my existing return ticket though (or I could just not use it all) as there is no option to leave it on hold as far I am aware. If I have to change it then I have to select a specific date and pay a change fee (I presume). It helps with the visa though. Thanks very much
  24. That is great thanks. I will look into that. Would it work with my existing ticket (I guess not)? It wouldn't work if I didn't have an existing ticket for 31st Dec - would it? But it would help me with getting a visa and not having to keep buying a new ticket.
