""We have to look into the behaviour of the other party too because this kind of incident should not happen to anybody and it has affected our image," so what "behaviour" is that? Having a holiday in Thailand or getting in the way of violent people?

He's implying they had public sex / nudity. So he is saying its OK to murder and rape someone because some Thai's sensibilities were offended. Sickening... I hope the western press have gotten a hold of this. Anyway, this PM is hardly representative of the majority of Thais....how can an unelected PM be anything else?

I dont believe he is saying that its quite unclear exactly what he is saying. Its a translation and I am sure there was something lost.

Your right - Dignity, Compassion and RESPECT !!!!

  2. Wow so many posts denigrating Thais in general.bad eggs are everywhere..example look at the beheadings lately and where the sentiment of hate leads towards..it will never end.

im not being thai apologist but if it is that bad and you truelly believe this all evil thai people doctrine..why to hang around there..?

Out of mind out of sight...if you leave and go home you will not have to worry anymore!

Everyone knows for every bad egg there are millions of good so why tarnish the whole race?

I can think if 2 maniacs in australia history responsible for mass killing of people and even many backpackers went missing..doesnt mean aussies all maniacs and racial haters.

as for generals words..everyone that know how basic and unprecise thai language is can understand how things can get confused.

English not there first language and very poor (like me!) So when they stumble with words they dont often mean it the way it comes out

Typical BS from a time-served been here 10 yrs + with best wee Thai wifey and a self-made Farang/Thaihood member of the secret society for disgust for us westerners ...

  3. As a former, long-time police investigator involved in many homicide investigations, I don't find the PMs statement of "We have to look into the behaviour of the other party too because this kind of incident should not happen to anybody and it has affected our image," out of line with conducting a thorough investigation.

I would want to know many, many things about the behaviour of the victims including:

    1. Who had they associated with over the evening and during their visit to Koh Tao?

    2. Did either have a personal relationship with another person who was on the island?

    3. Was either the subject of amorous attention of another person?

    4. Who were they with immediately before heading to the beach?

    5. Had they had a business or transactional dispute while on the island?

    6. Did they have any arguments or disagreements with anyone on the night in question?

    7. Did they use or attempt to purchase illegal drugs?

    8. Were they drinking or intoxicated?

    9. And many more.

I don’t interpret the PMs statement about their behavior as necessarily relating to any sexual contact between the two victims. At this stage I don’t even think that sexual contact between the two victims has been forensically established.

Looking into the behavior of the victims and the circumstances of the murder help to establish motive which is the single most important factor in narrowing the scope of an investigation.

Regarding his statement that "it has affected our image", that would be very difficult to argue.

Your list might fly on your beat at home, but would certainly not fit the criteria for an investigation of a murder of a person/s on holiday huh.png But thanks anyway Cluseau.

You're right JPEG. The answers to the questions I posed relating to the victims behavior would not provide the police with any direction. What was I thinking? Also, for you, it's INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU.

    Inspector Clueless ya mean !!!!!

  4. In a few more years, I'll take my kids back to the UK or even Laos. Because,. I would never forgive myself if anything happened to them here in Thailand. I much prefer not to take any chances with their precious lives. Hence, would be selfish of me to stay in such an unruly lawless country where my children are at risk of being bullied or murdered for being a bit different and plainly obvious they are half Farang.

I don't want to hear about all percentages of of chance of this being far too remote or reality since I personally feel this is 100% a dangerous place and getting worse........

  5. the double murders could affect thai tourism.what a statement.

what about the affect on the victims family's.

i am so ashamed to say i live here.

    R.I.P.

Terrible but it happens EVERYWHERE. Sadly there is almost nowhere on earth, where Tourists have not been murdered at some stage.

Never the less, it is horrifying and very bad for our image but don't be "ashamed" to say you live here....there are so many POSITIVES about this country.

The how of this story is very important.

It is possible to walk the beaches of many many tourist countries without fearing this type of thing.

A punch up yes, a robbery possibly.

But bludgeoned with a farm tool. Can't think when that happened on the Costa del Sol. It is the opportunistic and violent nature that is the problem.

The land of smiles grin is slipping. Really sad for the families.

Brilliant. Nice to see someone being so HONEST for a change and not doing the run of the mill 'Farang/Thainess Brotherhood' BS, thus trying to emulsify over the FACTS!! Makes my blood boil...... I will always curry favour to my own kind' since so many of these so-called ever so happy self-made ThaiFarangs can do without us people, who constantly shun and turn their backs on their countrymen.

Pray tell me !! Why do people like you keep insisting that these things happen everywhere as if to gloss over the REALITY?? Lets be honest here. These brutal crimes against tourists , constant bullying by robbing murderous gangs, thinking we Farangs have no value to our lives, is happening a bit too often in THIS COUNTRY and time we where protected. Nobody, expects to see their children/family/friends to go on holiday and never to be seen again. These horrific murders will now set a precedence for anyone thinking of coming here on vacations.

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!!!!!

  7. RPI and sincere condolences to both their families absolutely horrific murders So it is now becoming more apparent where not to go for your holidays if you want to have a safe carefree relaxing holiday with beautiful beaches Thailand is not the place to come to.

yes its awful, but come of it how often does this sort of thing happen in west so often IMO it does not usually even bother to be reported.

Before coming out with nonsense put it into prospective against number of tourists and I'm not condoning it at all.

Also get full details and it is possible its a faring or faring who did it

Just because your on holiday here or anywhere you need to take sensible precautions. No one would dream of walking late at night along deserted places anywhere in west and while this is a couple I've seen single forang woman doing that when they just would not back in UK or USA or europe

What does all that mean in English ???

  8. I'll bet my bottom dollar it ain't this British guy who returned on the ferry to Bangkok. That theory is too far fetched since nobody is going to come on holiday, then murder 2 people in a country like Thailand then rape the girl - ain't logical ..... sound like a loada BS to me as if they've had some crackpot advice from the desktop detectives on tv ......

I really feel for these poor young people life isn't fair sometimes ......

  9. Disgusting, its abominable and has the same markings of the girl who was murdered whilst calling her mother to say' Happy New Year a few years back. What kind of deranged scum could do this to another human being. Hope he or they get executed like the fisherman who slaughtered the English girl I just mentioned. This will certainly send waves of discontent and revulsion around the world - no doubt.

    RIP ...

  10. "Natee said Thailand allowed easy entry into country to accommodate foreigners. "

Really? That's why it's done? Nothing at all to do with getting hold of all that tourist money then? It's just done to accommodate those wicked foreigners.

    How sweet.

Lets go deeper ... Did the have the correct visa or even worse .. was they on an overstay ... this will have the elite tv posters shaking in their boots ....

  11. People who are attacked and mugged robbed are not all low life as you describe them I was attacked in Pattaya and robbed and lost the sight in one eye admitted I was drunk and I was heading home after a night out drinking with friends both Thai and farang was not in dispute with any Thais male or female at the time but I was definitely not expecting someone to run up behind me with a baseball bat and hit me from behind at full belt not a lot you can do after being knocked unconscious regardless of the pack size. Apparently they were only interested in my wallet and not my wellbeing. I also had a business associate along with his wife who were on holiday in the US and were mugged at gun point and they were not a low lifers either or his wife.

That's a pretty sick story Jim and would rather die for my Scottish honour than watch you being attacked like this its disgusting mate .....

  12. Is it better to clear up my overstay at the local immigration office?

Which is the best place to depart and clear my overstay status? I am not doing a border run, just going back to Singapore.

Why do you persist in going back into the septic arena where all the retiree hang em' high crew clowns congregate together (licking their lips in furor) since this is kind of topic and the main core of their existence. Them, well known for stripping individuals in some irate zealous manner. Thus, feeding them power to brag about money/rules/regulations/experiences and so on - whilst hiding behind the Thai wife's apron strings. Urbanjoe, is an excellent one man source of information and should be commended for his hard work on tv given that he tells people - how it is - and never in some biased fashion like these other braggarts, whom are on the last leg before the final introduction to some other officialdom albeit upstairs or down below depending on how kind they've been in life.

Hope you have a nice flight home my friend after your long stay ...

  13. These are the reasons I cannot go to tourist Thailand. Normal Thailand isn't so much of a problem (although even that tests me these days) and I'm perfectly at home in the village and with family.

Having quite a severe mental disorder that causes my temper to explode without warning makes it too dangerous for me to be in any of these sorts of confrontations or irritational environs.

I suffer the same symptoms on TV topics on overstays/wrong visas listening to the biased show-off self-made Farang/Thai retirees condemning anyone trying to muscle in on their patch ...............cheesy.gif

  14. Police believe that the victim may have been a Burmese worker who had been murdered and dumped into the sea.

Sad to think that for some people life is an never ending and losing battle, with little in the way of hope for better times, while at the same time some people who seem unable to appreciate how privileged their lives are, endlessly complain about the most trivial things.

Yes, unless its something considered more serious like the wrong visa or on overstay that begets a Spanish inquisition thrown in with venomous remarks that defies logic. May this poor individual rest in peace and pray his family are looked after during their grieving......

  15. Can the thai immigration authorities please start doing random passport checks in areas like Huay Kwang, Ratchada, Thonglor, Chinatown etc as there are lots of Chinese overstayers who are living and working in Thailand and even Singaporean Chinese, Malaysian Chinese, Fillipinos, Koreans and even Japanese overstayers these days I have been told. Some blend in by speaking thai and acting thai. In areas like Huay Kwang and Ratchada like the Ideo Huaykwang Condo for instant, I have seen chinese renting 31 sqm condos with 4 to 6 people staying in them. The agents like Bangkok Residence and the condo management do not comply with Thai laws which make it mandatory to report to immigartion and the local police any foreigners who are staying in the building. I have seen many young Chinese operating businesses here in Thailand even at the Jatujak Market (I did not know that there were work permits that allow foreigners to sell at the weekend market or even to work in certain salad bars at Paragon (one run by the family of a so called patriotic Indian family employs only fillipinos serving staff...again did not know that workpermits were allowed for such professions). The thai immigration should start doing random checks in all condo buildings in Bangkok not only the low class condos but aklso the middle and upper end ones.

Please its not fair for farangs who abide by thai and immigrations laws and pay local taxes duly to see other foreigners doing things illegally and the authorities not catching them.

If it bothers you that much and you obviously know where they all are why don't you report them to Immigration, you seem the type to do so

Are these people affecting your life in some way? I doubt it so what's your problem?

People like you knock me sick to be honest.

I often wonder what pleasure people like the above Poster derive from reporting (albeit anonymously) on people who do him no harm or even inflict malice on his person. Obviously, he's your everyday curtain twitcher secretly making notes on anything he sees fit to give details to the relevent authorities in covert mode or loses sleep if he thinks they somehow go about their daily lives without coming under scrutiny by the powers that be. These are the kind of scumbags that make other peoples lives a complete misery.

I can't write anymore otheriwise will start becoming offensive .... Basically ... a SNAKE in the Grassssssssssssssssss

  16. At least he will not have any visa hassles for the next years.

Don't forget. An overstayer or visa runner is far worse by far. According to the Spanish inquisition types in here it is virtually a hanging offense and can never ever be tolerated in any form or fashion and this guy's crime pales into significance with these lecherous illegal (was legal) despicable people. Thus, pacing out more stolen time, to live here amongst the Thaihood absolute elitists pensioners who have every right to be here cause they said so .... lol !!!

  17. Have a look at where ecstasy is on this chart, also other drugs such as mushrooms and LSD. It shoes harm to user and society

This forum is no place for facts, logic or reasoning based on statistics. Please stick to stereotypes, scaremongering and personal biases from now on. Extra points for saying how enlightened Thailand is, and how much freedom you have living here that you don't have in western countries

Brilliant mate ... couldn't have expressed it better myself ..... LOS - Land of Subservient s
