I'm not sure how this stuff works but is 11 grams not a lot? What sort of jail time is that?

Having a yellow house book and ID card would make no difference for getting the membership.
But will I lose them? To get them I had to show them my current visa.
thx

Does he have a Thai birth certificate issued by the embassy in London? If not that is the first thing you will need to do if you want to register him here.
It was my understanding there is an office in Bangkok one can go to if one does not have that certificate and is already in the couintry. I'm not sure where the son is, and I might also be wrong. I'm sort of in the same boat.

Some questions about this program,
It seems this is like a tourist visa but longer so can I buy cars, candos with it?
Can I work with it, or add a work permit to it later if I get a job?
I am in a yellow book, will that change anything? I also have the pink Thai ID card, will that do anything?
Thanks

We will have it surveyed but I do not see the need to have it done right away. We understand pretty close to where the line is based on the people next to us. It is also pretty clear on a satellite image.
Thanks for your help blackcab.

Talked to the Land department today and they said that I would not be able to build a house on the new land but I would be able to have control over it. I can build a fish pond and a small sala.
I'm pretty happy with this as it about double the land. We can't build as close to the river as we wanted but think over all it is good.

Thanks blackcab, that info might be very helpful.

After some thought we feel mislead by the sellers and will walk, thanks for all your help.

I'm going to guess I'm not going to have the ability to tell the guys growing corn on the land to <deleted> off. That sadly makes it not worth while.

I only have experience of this situation in Bangkok. But if the situation you describe occurred here, then the "new" land is still water on paper and therefore belongs to the harbour department.
That is what I was thinking, thanks....
-
Yeah I get that, but what about the "new" land. Who owns that land?
-
But anyway, who owns the land that was once an island?
-
Well there is the road and the river, and then on the left there is government land that is not market but you can tell as there is old tree growth, on the right, the line they are saying goes into a field. The marker is a painted fence post and a bamboo stick...
So... What to do? This chanote is 80 years old and the river moved. If there were markers they are long gone.
-
Sadly there are no chanot posts as the chanot was done before this was a thing. I do understand the seller will tell me whatever to make the sale, that is why I'm here. But to be fair the chanote shows to the road to the river, but the river moved...
So I'm not sure.
-
The seller has told us we would own the land as the chanote shows that it is to the edge of the river. However I'd like to verify this.
-
I found an older map and the land in question was once and island that is now fully attached to our side of the coast.
-
My wife is looking to buy some land that is on or rather near a pretty good sized river. The chanote shows the land going from the road to the river and is a set number of rai. However the river has moved a fair amount and there is now a good chunk of land between the river and where the chanote stops.
A damn was made not too long ago, and way after the chanote was made so we assume that area was flood plain back in the day, but for 10 plus years it has been used as farm land.
So who owns that land? We did want to buy the land so we could build a house on the river but we can't build on that area can we?
Any experience would help, thanks.

I have birth certificate, both passports, and a Thai court document saying I am the father.
I understand why there is the rules so no one steals a child, but I'm having trouble sorting out how I should comply. I just do not want to end up stuck somewhere after paying for flights.

The mother lives in Europe and it takes several months in court to get formal legal custody. We have been trying to do this for a few years but she is never here long enough to make it work.
My son has the same last name as me.
Is there a way that immigration will even know that my son is Thai since he entered on his US passport? He has a very American first and last name.
Edit: Also if I must get a letter from her, what should it say exactly? Does she just need to be the one to sign it or does she need to make a court document?
-
My son is both Thai and American. He has a passport for both. He entered Thailand on his US passport about 2 years ago. He is "over staying" but is under 10 years old. He was born in Thailand.
The mother and I did not marry but I went to court and have court documents showing I am the father.
Do I need anything from the mother (who is now married to someone else) to take him to the US? My child lives with me and my wife. We will only visit the USA for 2 weeks and we will return to Thailand. I'd like to avoid contacting the mother as we have not seen her in over 5 years but I'd really rather not be turned away at immigration.
Thanks.

Okay, Yeah we were fined and I was told we needed to do it every time :/ We have been going there about 3 times a month for about a year.
I have a Thai ID card and a yellow book but they do not seem to care about that. Was just in there today.
Thanks. In Chiang Rai BTW.

Should not be required as long as does not change from extension.
I must have a misunderstand about the TM.30 or maybe I am thinking of the wrong form.
My wife was fined 800 Baht for not filling out a form for my living in her house once. We were told I had to fill out a form at immigration every time I stayed at a hotel in side of Thailand.

And the 90 day is an address report of staying 90 days or more - if you leave day of return becomes day one of a new 90 day count - you use a TM.47 for this address reporting but after first most places you have option to do by mail or internet. If you travel often you may never need to make such a report.
But if I do leave, I will have to file a TM.30 when I get back? Or is that only for staying somewhere other than my house in Thailand?
-
Yeah it was a shared account, oops..
Sounds good, I guess I will just have to stay in Thailand for the 2 months until I can get this all sorted.
Thanks
