  1. Can’t comment on the Rasada garage but:

Chevrolet in Chiang Mai are still offering servicing at the same premises as before, Ford has taken over the showroom.

Chevrolet Hua Hin are still offering servicing at the same premises as before, Haval has taken over the showroom.

Shame the Rasada garage is not doing the same.

  2. Your Will in Thailand should revoke all previous Wills and Testementary Dispositions.

It should declare you have another Will for all of your properties in the US (this does not just mean houses, condominiums but everything you own in the US), which you declare will remain in force and will not be revoked by this Thai Will.

Similar wording needs to be included in your US Will declaring you have a Will for all of your properties in Thailand which you declare will remain in force and will not be revoked by this US Will.

  3. You have to put the funds needed to cover the cost of your flight into your Wise account first as the card is not, as you pointed out, a credit card but a debit card.
Once you add the funds to your Wise account you can purchase your flights using the Wise MasterCard.
I have done this in the past to purchase return Finnair flights from Bangkok to London.

  4. An update …. after requesting them I received my hard copy policy documents in the post from Roojai. I went to the car testing centre as my car is over 7 years old. They asked to see my Compulsory Insurance certificate. I gave them the copy I downloaded from the Roojai web site. Accepted and 4 mins check on car and certificate issued. Cost ฿200.

Went to the local Chiang Mai DLT office car tax drive through and gave them my downloaded copy of the Compulsory Insurance certificate which was also accepted there. New tax disc issued within 5 mins.
So next year I will print off my Compulsory Insurance certificate from the Roojai web site and not bother with asking them to send me the embossed original to me.
I only requested it from Roojai as a back-up.
Good to see things moving on-line as it saves on Insurers costs and also helps save a few trees along the way.

  5. I do my 90 Day Reports on-line. My next 90 Day Report is done automatically by the Immigration Officer as part of my annual extension - they have done this every year since my first annual extension. As I am already in the Immigration office it requires no effort on my part and whilst my next 90 Day Reporting Date might not actually be due at the time of my annual extension visit to Immigration I am then good for another 90 Days until my next report.
Makes a lot of sense to me.

  6. An update following a response from Roojai. They are going to send me hard copies of my policy documents in the mail. They did not respond to my question about me printing off the compulsory insurance certificate from their on-line system and handing that to the staff at the DLT office.
So I will take the copy I print off, which has the bar code and tear off slip for the DLT office to keep and see if they accept it.
I will also take the original hard copy sent by Roojai as a back up if they won’t accept the copy I give them.
At least then I will know for future visits.
What puzzles me is Roojai do everything on-line and have a document system where customers can download their own policy documents.
The compulsory insurance certificate also has a bar code.
Roojai only sent my policy documents by mail on request whereas in previous years they automatically sent them.
if hard copies of the original compulsory insurance certificate is required by the DLT office for taxing the car then every customer needs Roojai to mail the original policy documents.
I will provide an update in a few weeks time once an have been to the DLT office to renew my car tax.

Same thing happened to me with Direct Asia a couple of months ago. Contacted them and they sent the documents by registered mail instead of regular post.

Thanks for advising. There is a document “Download” facility on Roojai but not sure printing this off will be accepted by the DLT as the original certificate is embossed. There is a bar code in the section the DLT cut off and keep so maybe that is sufficient. A lot of things have gone on-line/digital since covid so maybe this is another example.
I have sent Roojai a message and waiting to hear back from them.

    Will report back.

Are you sure that the compulsory insurance papers won't also be sent to you by regular mail? Never heard of them being available only online. Usually the DLT tears off a part of it which they keep, and the remaining part is given back to us.

Yes, that is what the DLT did before. I have not received anything by regular mail so think I will contact Roojai. Thanks for your prompt response.

  9. I renewed my car insurance, first class and compulsory with Roojai for the third year running. This year all of my documents are on-line with no paper copies.
What do I need to show the Transport Office drive through staff in relation to my insurance, to renew my car tax?
Last year I gave them the original hard copies of my insurance, they took them, reviewed them and handed them back to me.

  10. Fastship is worth considering:

    https://fastship.co/home-en/

I sent an iPad from Chiang Mai to the U.K. a few months back using them.  As others have said it had to go via FedEx as only one who accept the shipping. Thai post would not accept it.

Very easy and arrived in a few days. Much easier than dealing with FedEx directly and Fastship took all the hassle away.

You can also view the PDFs on the immigration web site without need for any email.

That doesn’t work for us. We click on the PDFs and they don’t open. The old Immigration extranet site only contains details of previous reports. It does not include the latest report done vis the new App which can only be accessed from there.

  12. Having successfully previously reported every 90 Days on-line many times, we both registered for the new App when it became available and my wife and I both submitted our latest on-line 90 Day Reports yesterday (using iPads).
We both received emails to our Yahoo email addresses saying our reports had been successfully submitted and to see attached file. There were no files attached to the email.
The App showed both of reports as “Pending”. A few hours later we both received confirmation our on-line reports were “Approved” and to see the file attached to the email. Neither us received a file attached to the email.
The App shows us both as “Approved” and there are two PDFs showing for each of us on the App.
We cannot access the PDFs as clicking on them doesn’t do anything. When we tried emailing the PDFs it just includes a PDF logo.
It looks like there are files attached to the “Approval” email as there is a paper clip shown but we cannot see them.
We both forwarded our emails to our Gmail accounts.
My wife can now see the file attached to her Gmail  and print it off.
There is no file attached showing on my Gmail.
I have tried changing browsers from Safari to Chrome and it makes no difference.
    Any ideas?

UPDATE:  Just deleted my Gmail email and re-sent - both times including the attachment. This time it included the attachment when I opened my Gmail. So I have been able to print off the slip.
No idea what is going on but think I will use my Gmail email address next time I report and not Yahoo.

Thanks for the response . Went with ‘Oriental escape’, they had a choice of vehicles . I went with the family car package which is a Fortuna, hopefully it’s in decent shape.  Choice to pay card online or cash to the driver. ???? Oh cost was 2,300 baht.  I will update on the service Monday ….fingers ????

We have used Oriental Escape several times from Bangkok to Hua Hin and vice versa in a Fortuner. They were excellent. Highly recommend them. Hopefully you will enjoy your experience with them too.

Not so, the recipient account is tagged not the Wise account, i have two accounts, my BB is tagged Kasikorn isn't. Many people don't realise their account is tagged

No, I didn’t know my account was tagged so thanks for flagging.
How do you know when an account is tagged and why do they tag accounts?

Now I know my account is tagged I can avoid transferring funds needed immediately in to the tagged account.
The question still remains regarding Wise telling me that two of their three banks process 24/7 whereas the third bank has the 9:00 a.m. cut off.
I now have a solution that works for me so thanks for your feedback.

If using Bangkok Bank and don't select reasons long term stay or buying a property it should settle near instantly unless you have your account tagged. I can't see why your account would be different

I can finally draw a line under this.
I have just transferred the same amounts from the same U.K. bank account to SCB and Bangkok Bank using Wise within minutes of each other using “General Living Expenses” on both transfers.
Both transfers said before I confirmed the transfer they will arrive in seconds.
    SCB transfer arrived in seconds.
Bangkok Bank transfer after confirming said the money is taking longer to pay out.
This proves Bangkok Bank is the issue.
My Wise account is not tagged as both transfers would have been delayed.
Wise told me they use three processing banks and one has a cut-off time of 9:00 a.m. Bangkok time and the other two operate 24/7.
They did not name which bank has the 9:00 a.m. cut off but it seems to be Bangkok Bank with SCB and Kasikorn operating 24/7.

I will only send funds to my SCB account now to avoid future delays.
I hope this feedback may help others who have experienced delays like mine but appreciate there are others who say Bangkok Bank transfers work fine for them.

  16. As the instigator of this original post, if anyone is interested - Wise have confirmed sending transfers to a Bangkok Bank account (depending on time sent) may result in delayed receipt of funds in Thailand.

This is a message I received from Wise this evening in response to asking them if transfers to SCB would arrive faster:

“For Bangkok Bank recipients we send through Bangkok Bank which pays out once a day in a paying out window. For SCB most of the payouts are instant. So the funds should arrive faster than to Bangkok bank.”

This could be the reason why my transfers to Bangkok Bank are delayed.

From previous comments it seems Kasikorn Bank transfers are also instant.

I will try sending transfers to my SCB bank account in future and see what happens …..

Hardly think its because their customer service has deteriorated, some people were just fortunate that the transfers were almost instantaneous.

Think most were using wise because it was cheaper to transfer money.

Updated bank regulations probably ensure that additional checks are being made on transfers or it could be possible that somehow wise do not readily have the cash amounts available in Thailand for their local bank to bank transfers and so probably need to make a consolidated swift transfer themselves to have enough funds available to complete customer transactions and probably have to undergo swift scrutiny of those transactions as well. They are also probably managing the transfers by exchange rates and what they can profit on.

Waiting a few days to receive money from international sources is normal.

Reminder the perceived number on your bank statement and money in your bank account belongs to the bank and government until you have the cash in your hand. Hence all the scrutiny about bank transfers because the governments controls everyones money.

Basically wise should just do what the banks via swift do and state it will take 1 to 7 days for the money number to appear in your local account.

I agree with you although my reference to customer service referred to the response I got from Wise when raising it with them. I have definitely seen a deterioration in their customer support services recently.

Wise should not state the money will arrive in your account in seconds, minutes, hours or as last time 36 mins.
Out of interest I checked sending money using Revolut earlier today. They state the money will be in my account tomorrow.
This is all about managing customer expectations.
Telling customers the money will be there in 1 or 2 days is not a problem. It only becomes a problem when you are told it will takes seconds, minutes or hours and it actually takes 1 or 2 days.
I am a long term supporter of Wise and they are cheaper than their competitors.
I will take the view that transfers will take up to 2 banking days and if the money arrives earlier it is a bonus.
