  1. It's called confirmation bias. once you get an idea into your head you tend to only catalogue those experiences that support your perspective.

Try to see it from the other drivers point of view

"how come every time a farang overtakes me, they then drive very slowly and get in my way?"

BTW - I would suggest that neither observation is true especially as a trait in Thailand as opposed to everywhere.

  2. A change made just in April this year, but that's what you get for electing a Conservative government. I'm inclined to think that people get what they deserve when voting for that lot.

I don't have to worry, I've got enough to supply my health care needs, so screw people who haven't : it's the Tory way!

Actually over 4,000,000 in the UK did NOT vote Tory but voted UKIP. I voted for UKIP from Thailand using a proxy voter quite legally but sadly the electoral system in the UK only gave the UKIP one parliamentary seat.

IMHO I think that at the next general election, The Labour party if they are still under Jeremy Corbyn will not win, the Tories who will not be under Big Dave Cameron will lose a lot of seats, the Lib/Dems under Tim Fallon (I had to look who it was on Wikipedia) shot their bolt last time probably don't stand much chance either. The SNP under Nicola Sturgeon and Alex Salmond probably won't do that much out of Scotland.

To me that leaves Nigel Farage with UKIP, the Green Party under Natalie Bennett and a hodgepodge of other parties with no clear ideas or directions to fight the Tories.

For myself I truly believe that if UKIP don't win they will be a very strong opposition party to the winners.

Then perhaps things may start to get better for us expats and for the UK as a whole.

Get a grip man, UKIP want to privatise the NHS - even UK residents will have to pay

  3. Once you've seen a beheading 100 yards from you in the borough of Woolwich in the name of Islam. You will never forget. So I for one not only feel what he says but also would like to see the end of Islam in my own country. Because this shit is only going to get worse, a lot worse.

It's not your country, it belongs to all it's citizens, irrespective of faith.

Only a bigot calls for the eradication of another faith.

Be they buddhist, christian, muslim, whatever.

Bigotry and intolerance are the problem, not faith.

there lies the problem. a f...... lefty. My my I say again my country has been Christian for centuries,if I'm a bigot do you really think I care what you say.<deleted>
  4. Now where is perfect. But I will say this, we can all seat down sometimes and think bad of where we live, and of course people have genuine reasons to be worried. Especially when you go on tv and hear negative views, but there are many many people who are happy. I do not want to pass judgement on anyone and I mean that, but if you live in Thailand or would like to live here one day try to think of this, is this country a safe place for falangs? You bet you're life it is. No country wants to go backwards. And I do not want to offend anyone who thinks different. So im sorry in advance. When I say safe place I mean political.

  5. Look the fact of the matter is some of these things do hold true up country for Thais and falangs. As usual in Thailand it is all about face. It's not about getting scammed or any of that other shit that people who spend most of their time around hooker's harp on about. I did the traditional Thai wedding and don't believe in sin sot at all but for her and the family to gain face I threw a million baht and 5 baht gold on the table at the ceremony. Afterwards her family gave me back everything. They didn't keep one cracker nor did they ask for one. If you think face and tradition are ridiculous then don't marry a Thai. If you have no interest in helping support your wife and her family don't marry a Thai. Just do me a favour and drop off the boring rhetoric about how Thai women are all greedy lazy thieves who only want you for your money. Says a lot more about you than the women of Thailand also says a lot about the sort of Thai women you associate with. It's apples and oranges you can't compare average Thai women to the hooker's you knock around with in bars.

  6. I was thinking of buying a condo now they have left but would more than likely end up with Chinese or Korean neighbours now haha

    j

Not sure about the Chinese......given the "state of play" in China at this time..but if they do, they tend to keep themselves to theirselves.......which is a bonus in a condo, or otherwise

Definitely not as loud and rude as the Russians I have come across here (Sorry to the well behaved Russians)
