Ministry mulls "Salt Tax" as kidney disease cases rocket
tonray replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I've given up trying to influence the GF's diet...cultural norms are hard to break. It used to be when we went out to a Thai restaurant, she would always ask me "Do you want rice ?" After I replied none for me thanks, she would mercilessly dump half a kilo on my plate so I guess she would feel less guilty eating it. Same for deep fried stuff....as much as I gently ask her not to buy extra and only purchase what she can eat...invariably my plate ends up with loads of fried stuff she brings into the house. Perhaps she believes there's an insurance policy with her the beneficiary ? She was upstairs taking a shower on Saturday when a driver shows up from Grab loaded with fried goodies and sticky rice, I questioned him as to whether he had the correct house but of course i knew in my heart he did. -
I don't see any issues with using the 800K. I plan to do the same when my current OA extension runs out next October. Come back in with an exempt and so on and so forth.

Yes, I walked in Kasemrad hospital in Nonthaburi for something else yesterday...and with my limited Thai and the girl's limited English at the front desk...she immediately put me into the Queue for a jab !....took a few minutes to sort that out ! Not too hard it would seem to get a shot these days if you want one.

Refused entry for previous volunteer visa?
tonray replied to whizzergo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your biometrics/name bring up all your previous entries/records...not simply the 'new' passport number is used. Otherwise anyone could simply erase all previous history by simply getting a new passport -

Your history shows up on the computer screen anyway....what's the point ? -
Refused entry for previous volunteer visa?
tonray replied to whizzergo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Perhaps next time someone should warn all the corrupt IO's who are approving these no volunteer volunteer visa stamps for bribes instead of threatening the victims -
Didn't mean to offend anyone's sensibilities, just being my normal grumpy Grinch-like self in the morning. Carry on..ho ho ho

Taking you on for 30 days will not be an issue....simply listed as pre-existing and non-covered conditions on your policy.
-
Go and come back with a 30 day visa exempt and you need to buy 30 days of health insurance (as it stands now). Maybe in July nothing. Before your 30 days is up apply for an O Visa conversion (90 days) and then before that expires...your standard annual retirement extension (which I assume you are already familiar with).....30 day policy is all you need.

Don't be absurd...we need more mega malls in Bangkok before any of that trivial stuff is taken care of -
Request Advice on 90-Day Report Online
tonray replied to Cutty Shark's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Sometimes it doesn't matter anyway. I can use the online reporting 3 times per year...but the report following my annual extension is always a failure and I must visit the office (Nonthaburi) because there seems to be some disconnect where the 90 day system believes I am on overstay. A well known issue that nobody in government seems too troubled with fixing. It's Thailand...just go withe the flow (1 hour travel, 300 baht in taxi fees, 15 minutes for report)....life here contains many small obstacles. -
The whole thing is asburd. Putting up plastic Xmas trees for a society that does not even believe (or understand) anything about Christmas. (BTW you can now order a real imported tree from Canada at Tops market for 7000 baht)....ahhh the spirit of shopping here once again.

Yeah...it's a travesty...anyway that canal in the middle of the road lined with bougenvillea flowers was always pretty nice view from the BTS and added ambiance to the area....mucking it up with a goofy looking Disney inspired water park...what were they thinking ?

Yrs but of course you could have done this all along as long as the Cigna policy stipulated 400/40 coverage minimums and was able to produce appropriate certificate. I did same as you only because to add outpatient to my Aetna policy was far more expensive than acquiring LMG policy with high deductible.

Question about BOLT....just installed the app and seemingly there is no other payment method other than cash available. Is this the case or is there something in addition I need to do to make that option available ?
