  1. You need to ask them what they are. Thai patients are trusting of professionals and usually don't want to know. When my GF sees a doctor for something, I ask her what the verdict was and she invariably sends me a pic of some pills in her palm ...."doctor gave me pills so all is good". and this is an educated professional woman ...they just are conditioned to believe that if a professional says take it they should.
  2. Ahh...that's better...until she follows me outside that is....
  3. I'm only laughing because the GF is sitting at the table eating breakfast while watching some insane Thai video with absurd sound effects for added measure...bells, whistles, you name it....time for a walk outside before something happens.
  4. No worries...I think in many states the use of copper pipes within (inside) the wall cavities for gas is prohibited due to the fact they are thinner and less robust so in many cases they just use steel for all as it makes the installation job easier.
  5. Growing up on the east coast of the USA, all homes pretty much have gas from utility straight in....all use iron piping vs copper. Copper only for water and what they call 'black steel' or 'galvanized steel' are the standard for gas. Just an FYI
  6. yes.. never have I been described as a big spender
  7. I remember the Chinese tourists swarming the Max Value store on Ratchadapisek road in Suttishan at 8 PM because that's when they marked down the prepared meal items for the day. Almost lost an arm as they dove in head first. I guess that's how they save for those big spending sprees ?
  8. Your best bet is to restart your policy with Cigna. They should not need to change any underwriting criteria. Your other option is to leave the country and return with a new Visa with your entry matching your Cigna dates but that seems overkill.
  9. No,it's simply because they're the only ones to interpret the ambiguous mess concerning extensiins correctly. I applaud them for this.
  10. I think that logic works also with the O vs OA retirement extensions. The people on O visas never have to stress about insurance so they naturally are less likely to need it. ????
  11. If they increase it, it's a catch 22..then people won't qualify for insurance....you can't win.
  12. if not hearing the pump/switch go on and off when not running water in the house...look before that in the system..not uncommon around here (Nonthaburi) these clay soils shift and sometimes joint come loose or pipes crack. Might not be easy to find if buried.
  13. Thanks...then I'm hitting 3000 liters per month. If you double that if GF stayed here 7 days per week...then 6000 expected.
  14. My MWA bill does not specify any measurable amounts except for the difference between meter reading last month and this month. We use bottled water so that's something to consider and in rainy season really not watering the garden at all. Shows a useage of '3'....not sure what that translates into ? 2 people....but mainly 1 most of the week as GF works in BKK and stays 4 days with Mom at her place. Where do you see liters ?
  15. Impossible to tell without clinical or laboratory diagnosis.
  16. Same for my 6 year deal...it's not based upon logic with Thai authorities.
  17. Extending that logic the difference between a 50+ OA extension and a 50+ O extension for retirement would be ?
  18. Not quite simple to understand how a married 50+ expat does not require insurance when a retired one does..is there some basis in health stats historically to support this ?
  19. a. His extension will still be based upon the old O_A visa...but for marriage inexplicably insurance is not required. b. cannot change from OA to O in Thailand
  20. Funny story about high tides. Last week spent a few days in Hua Hun at one of the resorts just south of the airport. Arrived late afternoon on Thursday and overheard an upset guest complaining to staff that they had shown a beach on the website and there was actually no beach...of course at high tide the water is up to the seawall and the beach doesn't show until the next day.
  21. Ahhh....the inevitable face saving maneuver. It wasn't our site that was buggy and crashing all the time...it was that fake site.....best we just cancel the whole process. Wait for it...
  22. Most guys here are trying to avoid the barfine....
  23. I know a few people in Mexico, while we live in 'gated' MooBaans here....they are forced to live in "guarded" villages there with real armed security and only go out shopping with village bus...again with an armed escort. I don't know about Ecuador but my guess is you would not be safe walking around at night.
