  1. You can use the income method which would involve transferring at least 65k baht to your Thailand bank account every month. Some offices may ask for pension documents as a backup but not usuually. But the transfers must show as overseas into Thailand.
  2. You need to apply for a Non O first which will be good for 90 days and then once money is in bank for two months can apply for annual extension
  3. Just keep in mind a non O will get you 90 days. After that you'll still need to consider funds in Thailand for extension past that.
  4. Exactly, I remember people telling me in the 2000 financial crash that we were paying for the excesses of the 90s. The only excesses I recall were working far too many hours for too little pay.
  5. Good...don't take the vaccine...but limit yourself to no flights, no entry where vaccine proof is required, and shunning by others who know you refuse. Your choice as you like to think.
  6. You intend to save all your 'carbon' credits for the final burning at the local temple ?

    Faux brick wall

A lot of extra work as opposed to painting over in one color. But you can use two strips of tape to surround the current join lines so that the middle is exposed. This exposed area you can paint a slate gray to simulate the joints. Then obviously paint the rest brick orange...getting it to look rustic is another thing altogether, you can use a sponge and dab the painted 'brick' areas after applying paint...again...lots of work.
  8. And if you are extending an old OA Visa...make sure you budget for 2 policies...one for real protection and one for your IO visit
  9. Bravo...and do it before the Bell Tolls for you. I have loosened the grip on my cheapness once I realized that pension/SS/Dividends were well in excess of my normal monthly drawdown. So a new car this December and after that I need 3 guitars to fill up some blank space on the wall (told the GF those spaces were for artwork...so technically not a lie). Enjoy...I might even splurge at the IKEA cafe with dessert today...ha ha ha
  10. Perhaps he bought stock in Apple Cider VInegar company ?
  11. Girlfriend's SCB account hit this month with 10K in charges from 'SteamGames" an online game company. She does not have any account or never went there. Apparently this is a global thing happening now...many accounts being hit with these game charges. SCB investigating...I just turned all the limits on my Immigration 800K account to zero and lowered all my limits on my working account to 5000 baht. Raise them before major purchase if needed and then set them back to low limits...only way to try and be safe.
  12. Dealers don't usually take trade ins in Thailand, but rather refer you to an independent that buys used cars. My GF got a pretty good price on her used 7 year old MItsubishi Mirage (135K baht) but the guy who bought it was referred by a cousin. Apparently many of these small cars are sent up to Issan area as there is a shortage of small affordable used cars, musch less choice than in BKK area. I truthfully expected only about 60-70K for that car so pleasant surprise. We asked at the Mazda dealer and they referred a guy who called and offered 100K if I remember. So ask the dealer to have someone call you and offer a price and see if it fits in with what you need. Otherwise can place an ad..but more hassle.
  13. Coming soon" OA Visa holders/extenders must purchase ankle bracelet along with 400/40 insurance and 100K $ Covid plan
  14. This is correct. We have a friend with Lupus which is an auto immune disease treated by suppressing the immune system. She was able to get double vaccinated and her doctor told her it simply might not be as effective given her lupus protocol meds (steroids)
  15. They are trying to sell you an annuity with a life insurance rider attached. You want to buy term life insurance instead...the annuity deals are generally bad values, come with high commision costs up front and have surrender charges should you want to cash out early.
  16. Just about everybody has a veg option this week...just look for the yellow flags
  17. And I really don't have a problem with the Chinese tourists...it's just the volume at Asiatique means a 40 minute wait for the boat line back to Saphan Taksin on the weekends. Easier to walkk back or take a taxi.
  18. Yeah...I'm up here in Bang Yai Nonthaburi these days...so very little difference as there was never any tourist trade...so business as usual pretty much. I miss that area...that used to be my Sunday exercise walk. Some days I'd walk from Saphan Taksin to the Jewelry Trade center building and then on to the Chong Nonsi BTS after a cold drink. Other days I'd walk the other direction to Asiatique and take the boat back (stopped that after the Chinese invasion made waiting for the boats very unpleasant). Up here....the biggest excitement is the night market or Central Westgate....I really miss Bangkok
  19. The food court area outside did a big tourist trade with the Shangrila hotel right behind there. Might not be too many vendors until tourists come back in.
  20. I thought those were mainly standalone restaurants ? As I said haven't been there in a year or so.
  21. I haven't been there in a while but I seem to remeber the Food Court was up on the 3rd floor, under Robinsons was a Tops market
  22. There's a guy up here in Nonthaburi at the Talad Bang Yai MRT taxi queue must be close to 80. Nicest personality just laughs all the time. A couple of scary rides home as sometimes he forgets my turnoff or almost rear ends the vehicle in front of us but he laughs it all off. I must say the guys up here have been fantastic compared to tourist area cabbies in BKK. Nicest bunch of drivers you could imagine. Would be nice to see him get a little extra.
