  1. what is the current max stay possible for non-business type activities these days.? then border run to bkk for new visa? is this type of precarious resident arrangement feasible?

is it possible/feasible to do land visa runs to kunming?

perhaps just stay on the thai border or chinese border inside myanmar?

Border runs to Kunming, not yet. The Muse/Ruili border has been reported as opening soon as early as October of last year, even on the news here. I remember a 107 FM broadcast about this back in October of last year but nothing has happened so far. If you fly out of the country or get a permit to enter/exit Myanmar there, no problem. Otherwise, visa runs from Myanmar to Thailand would need to be done overland crossing over at one of the 4 Thai-Myanmar crossings that have opened since last August last year.

yes but how often do you need to go out of Myanmar? any sort of visa extension possible in the Myanmar border towns without having to travell further inland? or extension at which major inside cities possible? trying to figure how much travelling is absolutely required in a year? perhaps some cost figures too.

  2. $400/year no further BS involved cambodian visa is becoming more and more attractive by the day

Because of that the government are implementing a Ban when overstaying your visa, Cambodia seems like a good idea ???

    No Thanks.

Ps: I am paying 1900 THB (and some photocopies which I do for free at home) and for that amount I can stay a whole year legally in Thailand

Sent from my iPad so Please excuse any typos

not necessarily so. youve got a bank amount earning minimal interest supporting that 1900THB. IF YOU HAD SIMILAR invested in cambodia you would be earning substantially more possibly even enough to cover the fee difference. cambo doesnt require proof of cash in bank at all.

Oke so you want us all to move to Cambodia because of that we have to show money in a bank account here in Thailand. Some people are more then happy to do that duhhhh. And because of some lost interest I am not going to move to Cambodia.

Sent from my iPad so Please excuse any typos

no but because of the ever exponentially increasing harassment from the immigration department. costs being a secondary concern. i am mentioning far less official on going harassment in cambodia.

  4. little while ago found separately within a couple of days at two locations separated by perhaps 300 meters, a small bat crawling (so thats two bats altogether) on cement seeming exhausted and unable to get airborne.

slid them each onto bits of stuff and allowed them to attach to near by trees. dont know what happened after that, but seems very strange that this would occur twice when i have never ever witness this before. was keeping my hands away in case they had ebola or something but one of them did touch me briefly. (in case you though i typed this from the grave, i am still alive..)

also self interest here in that i was thinking how many mozies they would eat in their life time and thus save me from being bitten

  5. no these particulars ant are absolutely bad news. if you want to live in your present location you need to do your best to get rid of them.

if you know where the nest is and can acess it, boiling water will take them down. repeat as necessary.

also attract them to sweet thing in the toilet bath room and apply the boiling water there. watch you feet though. repeat often .

current location has dark wood table and these ants cant be seen on it and from there they even pounce on your dinner while you are eating it. terrible things.

  6. there was a guy selling street hamburgers next to the main police station in penang who used to have a picture of osama prominent on his trolley. was like that for months if not years, then one day on visa trip was walking past and noticed the picture had been replaced by a picture of a chicken.

he did quite brisk business and his burger were very good too. i say were because he changed the beef to something else then they werent so good. and i stopped buying them,.

two other good street burger sellers in penang, one near irish pub on the same street, and one near banana gh.

It's going to be more expensive for Singapore vehicles to enter Malaysia

  8. The Nation uses auto-correct, and the copywriter mistyped "Thais in Mandalay safe". The programme converted it to ""Thais in manually safe" and the proofreader did not catch it.

nope, not in my auto-correct, stays the same. if this was the first and only time we might believe you. but nation losts its pristine virginity many moons ago, and many of those past cockups wouldnt be spat out by an auto correct either.facepalm.gif

try again, something like, we're totally incompetent as is the thainess way.giggle.gif

  9. The problem with the Australian welfare system is too many people get onto things like that Disability pension thingo even when theres not much wrong with them. They get a certificate saying they have <insert condition> or something and cant work then they come and live in places like Thailand at the expense of the Australian tax payer, its a joke and meanwhile thousands of people around Australia go to work with <same inserted condition>every day of the week.

Theres too many bludgers in Australia living off the public purse. And because of this I am glad they are starting to plug this loop hole.

Sadly, there are people with REAL disabilities out there and now they are caught up in this. I feel sorry for them. The other lot should be flogged with a stick for this alone.

The Australian system does not take care of the Australian Elderly or genuine disable well but rather allows too many aholes to bludge off the system. Shame, real shame.

such a wonderful place that they have to stop ppl from leaving

  10. sweet things in PET bottles and close the lid. this usually wipes ants out in a week of bottles but these little black ants took close to a month or more. caught estimate 10000 of them. they disappeared for a while then come back from a new direction, i think perhaps a neighboring colony has expanded it territory. these new ones take the hint quicker but come sneaking back after a few days. think i am too far from their base to cause permanent wipe out for them.

this location i am in now is the first time i have encountered these smelly black ants. dont even consider eating something that they have crawled on as the leave some sort of stomach upsetting residue. nastiest little bugger i have ever encountered. they bite too even when you are asleep.

  11. It's seems to be much the same as in Vietnam:

"Relationship with Lao citizens: Lao law prohibits sexual contact between foreign citizens and Lao nationals except when the two parties have been married in accordance with Lao Family Law. Any foreigner who enters into a sexual relationship with a Lao national risks being interrogated, detained, arrested, or fined. Lao police have confiscated passports and imposed fines of up to $5,000 on foreigners who enter into unapproved sexual relationships. The Lao party to the relationship may be jailed without trial. Foreigners are not permitted to invite Lao nationals of the opposite sex to their hotel rooms; police may raid hotel rooms without notice or consent."

    http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/country/laos.html

link 4 vietnam? i wasnt aware that there were these type of restrictions in vietnam

    http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/country/vietnam.html

only thing i can see is

"Every guest in a hotel room must be registered, and it is illegal for a foreigner to share accommodations with a Vietnamese national"

    have you found something else?

See the thread re Vietnam girls. There is tons of info there.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/724447-how-are-the-women-in-vietnam/

as i said previously i have never heard of this and reading the thread you mention i now put it down to propoganda from you and your govt. in short i believe the other guy .

in laos ok seen the signs, but not in vietnam in my number of trips there spread over decades.
