What was her status at that time?  Was she a Landed Permanent Resident (LPR) with a Green card?

No. Just a regular permanent resident. No green card.

However I am now seeing that it is possible to acquire 'Returning Permanent Resident.'

The second way is for the immigrant to apply for returning resident status. An application for returning resident status requires evidence of the applicant’s continuing, unbroken ties to the United States, that the stay outside the United States was truly beyond the applicant’s control and that the intent of the applicant was to always return to the United States. Evidence may consist of continuous compliance with U.S. tax law, ownership of property and assets in the United States and maintenance of U.S. licenses and memberships. Having U.S. relatives, attending school overseas or stating an intent to return is generally insufficient.

So this could be an avenue to explore. We have continued to file our taxes as a married couple. I'm wondering if COVID is a good enough reason for our inability to return.

  2. My wife has lived in the states before, even obtaining PR status (with SSN, permission to work, etc). We moved back to Thailand and have been here for a few years, meaning she no longer holds this status or a valid visa. We have been married for more than 2 years (married in the US in July 2018). So is an IR 1 visa the correct visa to file for (as opposed to CR 1). Is this the fastest visa to obtain? Any suggestions on filing? Timelines? Things to know in advance? Thanks.

    Hi folks,

When I was in LOS my favourite Band was Marijuana. Does anyone have a link as to where I can download (buy or free, whatever) their albums. I miss it a lot and wish I had got it when I was there.

Otherrrrwise I'd be grateful if anyone could send it to me via dropbox or yousendit etc etc.

There is some content on YouTube but quality is <deleted>.

    Cheers

    Steverino

    Steve,

Not sure if you're still around, but I have a small collection of Marijuana records that I'm working on digitizing. PM me if you are here..

    Midi keyboard or a synth/workstation?

Central World has a pro keyboard store. As you're probably aware most malls carry cheap Chinese keyboards.

Just a midi keyboard/controller. All the major chains only do carry the Chinese keyboards which I am not interested in.

I think I know the CTW shop you're referring to. They only carry Korg and it's mostly electric pianos.

  5. I did the drive one week ago and then returned the same way today.

Lovely road, fun turns. We didn't make any stops today (for obvious reasons) but there was nothing out of the ordinary. One checkpoint at the border of Samut Songkram / Sakhon but we were waived right through. They were only looking at buses/trucks for migrants.

  6. Leg 1,

I took the 4 directly from Chumphon to Khao Lak (the 6h 29m route in my OP). Amazing stretch of road, but there was construction a bit before and then again after Ranong. Otherwise it was perfect. Little traffic, no trucks, nice scenery, fun curves.

    Leg 2

Returning from Khao Lak to Chumphon I took the 4 up to the 4006 and then cut over to the 41 (the blue route in my OP).

The 4006 is NOT good now - lots of construction and heavy trucks/machinery.
