You need to complete this form I found on the London embassy website. https://image.mfa.go.th/mfa/0/umufy3EgqL/คำขอ.pdf  It is in Thai. I think you will need to make a appointment to get consular officer to sign it.

Info is here in English for passports but it is not that clear as to what is needed. I does not mention the consent form if you are married.

I suggest that your wife contact the nearest passport office about it. List of offices in Thai is here. https://consular.mfa.go.th/th/publicservice/19745-สถานที่ให้บริการหนังสือเดินทาง

There may be more info that she can find the website.

FYI I did this today at the Thai Embassy in London it only took 15 minutes. I called in advance and no appointment was needed. It's done in the basement part of the building.

The only document you need to take is your own passport and a stamped addressed envelope for return of the consent letters (You get one per child)

Then you fill in the consent form which you showed (although they use a hybrid one with English too) and a payment form. Basically just add your name address and names of the children.

Then they photocopy your passport get you to sign it and pay their fee which is £10 (that was the total for 2 children)

So in a few days I'll get the verified consent letters posted to me.

no, they were not denied return to their country, they were denied travel on a document that might not be valid for travel or a lack of supporting evidence that their travel document is valid.

If a UK person were to turn up trying to exit Thailand on an empty brand new passport without entry stamps or visas and having no records of them ever entering the Kingdom on immigration's system, I'm sure they'd be denied boarding too

Yes they were. They are British Citizens.

They can definitely leave Thailand on a foreign passport, you just need to show the Thai birth certificate at Thai immigration.

Like I said before, I left with my son in 2019 and he has never even had a Thai passport.

All children are exempt from overstay fines. Thai citizens can also not be deported or fined when they reach adulthood as that would be against the constitution.

I mean the children are British Citizens. They were denied a return to the country where they have a right to stay.

Unless the children were born here and there showed they were not Thai nationals the must leave on a Thai passport.

They cannot leave on a UK passport without a entry stamp in it unless their birth certificates show both parents are from the UK.

They can easily get a Thai passport. But you will need to do a document with your consent will be needed to get the passports. The parental consent can be done at the Thai embassy in the UK.

This is the form that can be used. https://image.mfa.go.th/mfa/0/zE6021nSnu/เอกสาร/หนังสือให้ความยินยิม.pdf

It seems the choice is either for me to go over to Thailand and apply with the mother and children present or get the consent form approved and sent over to Thailand so she can do it without me using the consent form

Do you know what docs I would need to bring with me to get the consent form approved by the UK embassy?

    Thank you. I understand now.

Will let someone with experience comment but believe both parents must sign passport application so that might be an issue.  Not to mention that suspect children are stopped at airport regardless without both parents permission to travel.  I assume your children were born here and have not entered Thailand on UK passports so can not exit on them?

The children are born in Thailand and didn't have Thai passports and have never left the country. I got them all UK passports thinking that would be enough.

Presumably it was the airline which refused them? Which one? It doesn't make sense to me, because holding a UK passport the children were obviously admissible at their destination. Unless they were travelling on return tickets, in which case the check-in staff were second guessing problems about them coming back to Thailand. I wonder if your wife has the full story.

The only other thought is maybe some child protection issue, the children travelling with one parent of a different nationality, but that seems unlikely.

Yes it was Qatar airways. I don't think it was a child protection issue as this wasn't mentioned, just an issue that that they didn't have Thai passports.

  8. My Thai wife had a UK tourist visa and her Thai born children have only UK passports. They were coming to visit me in the UK but were refused flight at Suvarnabhumi because the children didn't have Thai passports.

Obviously I wasn't expecting that so is that normal?

Now it seems I have to somehow get Thai passports for them to be able to come to the UK. What are the options for doing this? Thanks in advance

  10. Can a U.K. passport be obtained for a child born outside of a legalised marriage? I think not!

Will be most interested in the opinions of the more knowledgeable members of the forum.

What is the point of you posting your doubts about something you don't really know about?

Why would you even be "most interested" to hear the opinions of more knowledgeable members? You know nothing and so it has nothing to do with you.

  11. Im in the same situation and I get 60 day double entry tourist visas at Vientiane. You can extend each entry by 30 days which gives you 90 days per entry and so 180 days with a same day border run in the middle to activate the second entry. I have had 3 such visas consecutively from Vientiane, on the 3rd one they stamped proof of residence and finance required next time so if you provided that then I think you could get more. As it happened when it came to my 4th visa I had only 2 pages left in my passport so not enough space for the Laos visa and all the stamps to I got my 4th at Penang (you only get a single enty there though).

Once I got my new passport I went back to Vientiane (this week) and got another (my 4th) 60 day double entry there no questions asked as it was a new passport with no previous tourist visas in it.

If you choose to go to Vientiane then plan your trip so you arrive early to submit application before 12pm and then collect next day at 1:30pm. I use the 5:55am flight from Bangkok to Udon and that gives enough time to get from the airport, through immigration and to Thai consulate in Vientiane and submit your application.

  12. Update - So I turned up at the border crossing on Monday morning on the day that my visa expired and they told me that I needed to get the stamps transferred to my new passport at immigration in Nong Khai. They wont transfer the stamps at the land border crossing at Nong Khai.

When I arrived at immigration they insisted that to see the letter which came with the new passport which I didnt have with me. They gave me a number to call to get a copy of that letter and the passport office in Bangkok eventually sent a copy through by email and the stamps got transferred, albeit to late for me to submit my visa application Monday morning as I had planned.

  13. If your husband doesnt show up to defend himself then the judge at the court will only get your side of the story and so it will be much easier for you. My wife never turned up at my divorce (she lives in UK) so the judge just listened to me and my lawyer and agreed with the divorce as there could be no argument with defendant.

  14. Do I need to make a border run every 60 days and get a 30 day extension or every 90 days?

I've read that these can be done by mail? or you can hire someone to handle the specifics?

What exactly does a border run consist of? Do I have to leave the country and then can immediately return or stay out for a day or do I simply need to head to the closest immigration office?

You go to immigration department to do the 30 day extension (1900 baht and I think you have to attend because they take your photo) and do the border run when that 90 days is up.

A border run can consist of hopping over a border crossing to leave thailand and returning almost immediately back to Thailand, this activates your next 60 day visa, which you then extend again by 30 days.

  15. I have 3 back to back tourist visas from Vientiene in my UK passport with the last one was stamped asking for proof of income and residence which I believe is usual practice. With limited space left in my passport, Vientiene wasnt an option this time as you need more than 2 empty pages in your passport for that visa run.

So this time I went to Penang (less than 2 pages needed for uk passports as no visa is needed to enter Malaysia for a short period) to and got my 4th back to back tourist visa with no questions asked and no such stamp on the visa.

Also if anyone is planning going to Penang then take note that since 1st November 2014 they no longer do same day visa service. You get your passport back the next day after 2pm.

If you stay at Mingood hotel the manager will go to the consulate for you which is far easier as the embassy is a fair walk and the roads are not so good for walking due to lack of footpaths on the way there and fast high volume traffic on the way to the consulate. I walked there to submit it but it was very unpleasant and so got the manager at MIngood to get the passport back for me, far easier...

  16. I have done this trip 3 times and if you arrive at 7:25 then you have enough time -that is the nok air flight I have used each time.

You will only have to wait about 10mins for the minibus at Udon airport (you will see the counter inside the airport. It will take an hour to get to the bridge then an hour to get across the bridge as Laos immigration is usually busy, then less than an hour to get to Thai embassy by taxi. So you will probably get to the Thai embassy at about 10:30 which is enough time to get your passport submitted for pick up next afternoon.
