Hello,
If one go to a private clinic and make a PCR test and test positive what does the clinic do besides giving the result?
Do they have any obligations to report to authorities to hunt one down like a dog and lock in an expensive "hospital", like the Israeli guy?
I know for a fact thai people making a positive antigen test, go to a hospital for PCR, queening for hours only to be sent back home because they cant serve everyone.
Thanks,- 2

I wish I could have got a METV - London embassy took the £150 fee off my credit card but then said that they could only give me a 60-day SETV. No refund of the difference of course, a bit like dealing with Thai Airways!
At this point with land borders closed and amnesty what benefit do you see with METV? One can only stay 60 (+30) days in the country.

Yes METV is available from some countries.
Excellent visa.
The issue being that it requires exit after 60 days. However you can obtain a 30 day extension to each entry
Yes but no border runs are allowed yet due to pandemic?

Hello,
Anyone has a opinion about obtaining METV these days?
I intend to stay longer than 3 months in Thailand.
METV is still issued from my country.
STV seems too complicated due to the fact that I want to travel soon.
Thanks, -

The hotels will not sell well, to anyone, as most are on a land lease anyway. With no income, eventually the landlords will just take them back over.
Don't you think that most of them have also bought the land with loans?

Thai mindset do not allow price reduction on items and services because it cause "face loss". Business rather go bust than doing what is normal which is try to increase sales by price reduction. Also any items that interest farangs automatically cost more because of an mental "farang tax".

0.5% is the base rate set by the MPC at BOT. Individual banks use that as the base to determine the rates of interest they will pay customers on savings and how much they will charge to lend for loans, including mortgages. As the base rate moves so do most of the other rates for new loans, not for existing ones, unless a variable rate loan is in effect.
As I understand all mortgages are based on BOT MRR rate? Have MRR moved at all? Should not the base rate reflect on consumers or do banks just use the lower MPC rates to increase their margins?
Comparing to Europe mortgages here are very expensive. -

No.
Interest rate now at all time low at 0.5%
What interest rate is this? Mortgage rate has changed? Not still at 8%?

These computer parts are hardly Thai inventions. It's international companies opening factories in countries with cheap labor so there is nothing "Thai" about this industry. Ridiculous low quality article.

Yes, the elite does not want their trillions to loose its value.
I wonder if there is financial mechanism to detect currency manipulation or if its unofficially pegged to other currency.- 5

Keep it closed until the Chinese come back in masses. Just to keep them safe from Corona.

Also, Thailand is not deepest, darkest Africa where people are starving due to droughts. Yes, they may be doing it tough (like everywhere else). But look at the average Thai - many are quite over fed, to the point of being obese. Clearly Thailand isn't 3rd world but quite a well to do developing nation, with plenty of wealthy people that should have the responsibility of looking after their own. Not someone with the saint complex handing out rations of rice. Sheesh.
Agree. These people live in fantasy land. "Help one person and you have helped the world! We shall overcome!" and pat each other on the back with "good work mate!". so much happiness bought with small gestures and small money.
How about start a Farang crowdfund to help thais with minimum donation 50 000 bath. Any farang can afford it but very few would donate.Go ahead and "help" but please don't look down on people who does not participate or raise you to sainthood for these gestures. It's like giving a tip at the bar.

Here you go all farang Samaritans that want to save the thais from starvation:
When you end up in jail there will not be any riot outside demanding your release same when your visa extension is denied because you are short 1 bath in the bank account.
Keep low and mind your own business.

One has to wonder how the thai mentality works.
Accept that they are hungry because karma a la Buddhism or will they be angry at the government for failing to feed them.
My understanding is that they think karma decides if you are rich or poor.
Anyone with deeper understanding of Buddhism philosophy? -

Not easy to think rational when one is hungry or have hungry children at home.
Soon the hungry will increase and rioting begins.
Thais are not used to hunger like Africans are. The could become very nasty.- 3

I know for a fact that Thai nationals testing positive for Omicron in Phuket are sent home to self isolate for 10 days.
I guess that farang Omicron is much more dangerous or it's a insurance scam. take your pick.
