  1. Thailand ought to march to Phnom Penh and depose Hun Sen, then when they come back lock up the Shinawatras, let free and fair elections be held in both countries. And stop being so scared of the Move Forward party, just make a deal like they did with Thaksin. At least they can be trusted to stick to it
  2. Maybe it's about time Thailand marched all the way to Phnom Penh, deposed Hun Sen, and let them hold proper elections. I think most Khmers would appreciate it
  3. I came here because I was busy traveling the world and it was just the next stop. But i didn't go any further, purely because of the women throwing themselves at me (I was 24 and handsome back then!).
  4. I only found out that my girlfriend used to be a bar girl after I was dating her for about six months. I really would never have guessed, because she doesn't speak a word of English, she's extremely shy, and she's not particularly great in the sack either. But the story came out later... It was a big shock to me because I've always had a rule that I won't date bar girls. But hey, it's a rare case where I didn't know that before, and her story was convincing enough that I have given her the benefit of the doubt. Apparently, she was bullied into it by her narcissistic, drug-addicted mother who constantly demands money from her and puts her under a lot of pressure to do it. She lasted about two months, absolutely hated it, and had 2-3 very bad experiences, judging by what she told me. Not surprisingly, she doesn't like talking about it at all, but fortunately she seems to have moved past it.
  5. I thought the official price from Swampy to Pattaya was around 1,200 or something like that? Definitely not 2,000, so the taxi driver was breaking the law anyway...
  6. It's BS. I lived in Buriram for 3 years, it never happens... They're far too shy for one thing, they don't speak any English at all, and they have plenty of younger and better looking Thai guys to choose from anyway, especially if they're attractive.
  7. As mentioned, how the hell did he get her into the condo? Why would she go with him willingly if she knew his intentions while sat in the car? And then why did he, after apparently making a huge effort to force her into the condo, suddenly relent at the last second when he probably had a stonker on? To me that seems like the most unlikely time a would-be rapist might suddenly give up and say "okay, I'm sorry, forget it". I think she's full of crap, maybe she felt she didn't get paid enough...
  8. The important question is, why the hell did he refuse?
  9. As far as I'm aware, Kasikorn doesn't let you do the face ID thing. I tried to do it in the app, it says not available to foreigners.
  10. Im sure it's just the same as Buriram, absolutely nothing to do in the village. I was lucky that my girlfriend's dad had a pig farm, over 200 pigs. I helped him scrape out the pig poo every day with a shovel cos there was literally nothing else to do. But your son will probably enjoy it, with all the wildlife
  11. It depends if the QR code is generated for the specific transaction. Sometimes it's just a standard QR code for any transaction into the same account.
  12. I remember one guy telling me it's closed, when I was stood right in front of the main entrance, with dozens of people walking inside... lol
  13. It doesn't look that bad, this is only getting attention because she's hiso and has the cops in her pocket.
  14. I'm surprised they don't have any anti-venom at the local hospitals. Because most have a shelf-life of five years or longer. There's really no excuse not to have it nearby
  15. Your wife is not very smart, she could have taken care of it on the spot and you could have drove home. They ALWAYS negotiate. I'm pretty sure if it was me and my girlfriend, we'd have been delayed for 5-10 mins tops
  16. problem is they pay less than what motorcycle taxi drivers used to make a few years ago before they became so popular. It's probably about the same now, if you drive for Grab or drive a proper "win" motorcycle taxi, you'll maybe make 300-400 per day, which is peanuts. Before Grab et al, they could make more like 600-800 a day (though it varies based on the location). I know because my girlfriend used to ride one and she's friends with lots of drivers. So it all boils down to the fact there's no recourse. Grab is taking a hefty cut and you can't beat them or join them without accepting the same lower wage.
  17. One of my girlfriend's friends who was conscripted apparently volunteered to go down there. He said it's preferable to being an unpaid house boy at some rich officer's gaff in Bangkok.
  18. So the real headline should be "Thailand introduces optional early digital arrival card submission"
  19. I guess he just put the coke in his bag and it somehow slipped into the pages of his passport. He might have even forgotten it was there. I mean, it's such a pathetically small amount, it's easy to forget, especially if you're wasted. I bet it was a shock when the officer started thumbing through his passport and it just fell out though, lol.
  20. Good for them, normally they make peanuts. And to be honest, it's just basic supply dynamics. Apps like Grab and Bolt were charging four-times the usual price because the demand went through the roof. But people were obviously paying up, because most couldn't even get a ride
  21. But the architects have to assume that the builders will use the specified materials. But they probably didn't...
  22. I much prefer to roll my own with a sprinkle of Golden Virginia to enhance the taste and ensure a smoother burn. Skinning up is an art form and I'm damn good at it, I would never pay for something pre-rolled.
  23. This guy used to live in my town. Apparently he just ran out of money after almost 20 years, so faced with the prospect of being homeless in Thailand he just thought sod it, at least in the nick he gets a bed and something to eat. At 80 years old, he probably can't even do the stuff he was convicted of doing anymore, so perhaps not such a bad move on his part. he can't have long left anyway... What makes me laugh is how the cops try to present this as some sort of win on their behalf, their relentless pursuit of justice bla bla bla... They didn't have the first clue where he was and I'm not sure I believe their claim they "suddenly" tracked him down just before he decided to turn himself in
  24. Mukhdahan is much better, there are tons of those karaoke bars around with more hot Lao girls than you'll see during your entire stay in Savannakhet
  25. I imagine they finally found some evidence, hence the move by the Thai cops to get him sent home for questioning
