This is actually true, you don't even have to go into the immigration office usually. just hand over your passport, bank book and the readies, and you're good to go.

Where do you come from? Im from the UK and I got picked up by two coppers once while hitching a ride to work. They said they felt sorry for me lol. They were very friendly, except for one odd moment when there was a pause in the conversation and one of them looked at me in the mirror, and said "do I know you?", insinuating that I might actually be "known" to the police. I just replied, I've never been nicked and I don't generally hang out with "filth" so I doubt it. Luckily he found it amusing and laughed.

Maybe because their families are utterly broke and struggle to pay for the uniforms, books, transport and everything else their kids need to go to school? You don't seem to know very much. In Isan, the vast majority of kids leave school after Mathayom 3, when they are 15 years old.

The people laughing at you are the ones who cause all of these problems. The interference in people's lives and privacy is off-the-scale and totally unjustified, but they're too ignorant and naive to see that it's anything but "normal". It's amazing to see the gullibility of such otherwise intelligent people...

I thought you only needed to show proof of funds for the extension, not the original visa application (which just gives you 3 months). Or did that change?

If you're worried you can pay for the VIP entry thing from any decent visa agent. Costs around 3,000 THB if I remember right. You get ushered through a special line and stamped in no questions asked, so long as you have a visa or if haven't entered too many times already on a visa exempt stamp. I did it last time I had to enter without a visa, the guy looked at my passport and my records on the computer showing back-to-back-to-back-to-back stays for 19 years and he just asked me, "no visa this time?". I just smiled and said "not yet, but soon!" and he laughed and stamped me in.

How? They don't even let them have bank accounts anymore...

They don't compete, they use the same apps to get passengers.

The problem is some people need a Thai bank account to get a visa extension. I wouldn't have a Thai account if not for that requirement

My girlfriend was apparently a bar girl, but I only found out about a month after I met her. She was going through her wardrobe and pulled out tons of bikinis, so I asked why so many? I came here because I was busy traveling the world and it was just the next stop. But i didn't go any further, purely because of the women throwing themselves at me (I was 24 and handsome back then!).

I only found out that my girlfriend used to be a bar girl after I was dating her for about six months. I really would never have guessed, because she doesn't speak a word of English, she's extremely shy, and she's not particularly great in the sack either. But the story came out later... It was a big shock to me because I've always had a rule that I won't date bar girls. But hey, it's a rare case where I didn't know that before, and her story was convincing enough that I have given her the benefit of the doubt. Apparently, she was bullied into it by her narcissistic, drug-addicted mother who constantly demands money from her and puts her under a lot of pressure to do it. She lasted about two months, absolutely hated it, and had 2-3 very bad experiences, judging by what she told me. Not surprisingly, she doesn't like talking about it at all, but fortunately she seems to have moved past it.

It's BS. I lived in Buriram for 3 years, it never happens... They're far too shy for one thing, they don't speak any English at all, and they have plenty of younger and better looking Thai guys to choose from anyway, especially if they're attractive.

As far as I'm aware, Kasikorn doesn't let you do the face ID thing. I tried to do it in the app, it says not available to foreigners.

Im sure it's just the same as Buriram, absolutely nothing to do in the village. I was lucky that my girlfriend's dad had a pig farm, over 200 pigs. I helped him scrape out the pig poo every day with a shovel cos there was literally nothing else to do. But your son will probably enjoy it, with all the wildlife
