  1. A few pointers to the people who cannot seem to understand whats wrong:

Joyriding a car on a beach is generally considered illegal. Here are some reasons why:
    • Trespassing: Most beaches are public property (owned by a variety of entities, including local governments, private landowners, or conservation organizations), and driving a car on a beach without permission can be considered trespassing.
    • Environmental damage: Driving a car on a beach can damage sensitive ecosystems, including sand dunes, nesting areas for birds and sea turtles, and delicate plant life.
    • Safety concerns: Driving a car on a beach can be dangerous, both for the driver and for other people on the beach. Cars can get stuck in the sand, and pedestrians or animals may not be able to see or hear a car approaching.
    • Local laws and regulations: Many beaches have specific rules and regulations that prohibit driving cars on the beach. Violating these rules can result in fines or other penalties.
In general, it's best to avoid driving a car on a beach unless you have explicit permission from the local authorities or the property owner.

I assumed that for renewal purposes they would only look at the 800,000THB requirement starting 2 months before the renewal date

To do an annual extension renewal as in your case for the second time the 800,000THB needs to have been there all year (except for 5-6 months when it can fall back to 400,000THB). You said you only had 800,000 since 4-Jan this year and nothing before that if I read you correctly.

Is it really likely that they'll turn a blind eye or he'll be turfed out..?

If you've been here 16 years as you say, you should know the overstay rules are quite clear and posted on various immigration sites. I even have to sign a document to say I am aware of them every year I do an annual extension. Don't you do the same?

I would just leave the country before doing another yearly extension = solves the entire issue already.

So you restart the whole Non Imm visa process and your first yearly extension every visit to the country you mean? That sounds mental.

  5. Countries like China and Thailand are funding the illegal Myanmar junta with the spoils of the energy sector to feed their own greedy nations. This is off the blood of innocent oppressed Myanmar citizens. Until these two foreign countries sort their act out, they will pay the price of the refugee crisis - probably with small change from their energy gains, but the loss of reputation will linger much longer.

I'm tired of carrying two pair and constantly juggling between them.

Probably have to get used to it. For any computer screen work progressive lens will be painful to use. For everything else progressives should be fine. I always carry both around. I also never buy local, online Zenni is cheaper and good quality.
