The histrionics are remarkable. Stupid. But still remarkable.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to come back anytime soon. I work in Djibouti and only get 16 days vacation while ASQ is still required.

One in the hand is better than two in the bush. Besides, high end tourism actually generates very little overall revenue. Most of the high end folks I know visit Thailand for the bohemian lifestyle. If they genuinely want to be pampered, they go to the Seychelles or the Maldives.

Fairly certain the father is punishing himself far worse than any societal measure could.

Wow. There are a lot of anti-American posts on here, which shows a decent level of ignorance. Congrats all. From my experience, everyone hates on Americans until the point where they really need us. This man obviously has mental and emotional issues and should get some genuine help. As to the anti-guns comments, well, not everyone can be a beta male.

Because alcohol sales are known to spread the C19 virus. I swear, it is difficult dealing with the idiots from the general public who blindly say "Obey" and the facists who blindly follow orders thinking somehow what they are doing is actually lawful.

Recently talked to some friends and multiple people have said that Vientiane & Phnom Penh are absolutely flooded with falangs. It doesn't surprise me much, when a government purposefully targets a retired falang sector with financial obstacles for retirement, they will simply pull and anchor and move elsewhere.

It shows you how myopic the Thai Tourism Authority is. They look solely at number of people entering the Kingdom and say that the Chinese are the most desirable. ANYONE, that is in the tourism industry knows that the vast majority are in tour groups, that go to Chinese owned hotels, get bused by Chinese owned tour guides and dine in Chinese owned restaurants. Very little of that $ is making its way to the local Thai economy. Ask ANY small business owner how may patrons of theirs are Chinese and you will find that on average, very few.

Folks, a good article to read here.
While the spread is fairly rapid, as of now, the mortality rate is quite low. The media the world over is acting horribly irresponsible. https://m.stamfordadvocate.com/opinion/article/I-have-the-coronavirus-So-far-it-isn-t-that-bad-15093664.php- 5

The amount Thai schools pay for foreign teachers, they’ll only get backpackers for that.

Not to worry, they have taken the room-less there whilst you are away. They have been searched for fags, matches and barbecues....????
Truth be told, I haven't found a long term renter yet and owned it over 1 year. I get the occasional lowball (6,000B) offer and just politely decline.

That is the case in probably any third world country, if folk want to venture those places, sh_t stuff goes with the territory..
Actually, the condo association is very strict against AirBNB. I'm sure it still happens but they warn against it and say there have to be rented personally for over 1 month.

Well, being American, I was brought up with guns in the household. I was taught at a very young age they are not toys and never should be handled under any circumstances without an adult present. I was about 7 when I took my .22 rifle out bird hunting before my grand parents got home. When they did, my grandfather reminded me I wasn't to touch guns without an adult present and tanned my backside properly. That being said, Thailand is nothing like the US and guns in the household is not all too common. The child was most likely curious and the father was negligent in not only teaching his son etiquette but also guilty of not keeping it secure. Now the father & son will have the guilt hanging over their heads and a child is seriously injured with horrified parents.
