The histrionics are remarkable. Stupid. But still remarkable.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to come back anytime soon. I work in Djibouti and only get 16 days vacation while ASQ is still required.

Migrant construction workers? Is this a complete <deleted> joke ?

One in the hand is better than two in the bush. Besides, high end tourism actually generates very little overall revenue. Most of the high end folks I know visit Thailand for the bohemian lifestyle. If they genuinely want to be pampered, they go to the Seychelles or the Maldives.

Wow. There are a lot of anti-American posts on here, which shows a decent level of ignorance. Congrats all. From my experience, everyone hates on Americans until the point where they really need us. This man obviously has mental and emotional issues and should get some genuine help. As to the anti-guns comments, well, not everyone can be a beta male.

Because alcohol sales are known to spread the C19 virus. I swear, it is difficult dealing with the idiots from the general public who blindly say "Obey" and the facists who blindly follow orders thinking somehow what they are doing is actually lawful.

Recently talked to some friends and multiple people have said that Vientiane & Phnom Penh are absolutely flooded with falangs. It doesn't surprise me much, when a government purposefully targets a retired falang sector with financial obstacles for retirement, they will simply pull and anchor and move elsewhere.

It shows you how myopic the Thai Tourism Authority is. They look solely at number of people entering the Kingdom and say that the Chinese are the most desirable. ANYONE, that is in the tourism industry knows that the vast majority are in tour groups, that go to Chinese owned hotels, get bused by Chinese owned tour guides and dine in Chinese owned restaurants. Very little of that $ is making its way to the local Thai economy. Ask ANY small business owner how may patrons of theirs are Chinese and you will find that on average, very few.

Folks, a good article to read here.
While the spread is fairly rapid, as of now, the mortality rate is quite low. The media the world over is acting horribly irresponsible. https://m.stamfordadvocate.com/opinion/article/I-have-the-coronavirus-So-far-it-isn-t-that-bad-15093664.php- 5

The amount Thai schools pay for foreign teachers, they’ll only get backpackers for that.

Question: I come back to Thailand 4 times a year for 3 weeks at a time. I fill out a TM30 upon arrival to BKK; do I need to fill out another one or does my wife, eventhough we stay in our house and my name is in the house book?

Hey folks-
No need for the cynical BS. I know Kev personally and he is a stand up guy. He made a unwise choice not to insure, but who the heck hasn't made unfortunate decisions in their life. I've cut corners in the past in areas I probably shouldn't have, no reason on raking him over the coals. He lives an honest and frugal life in Thailand and if you see his channel, he goes about different locale showing off sites, tourist areas and has a good old time. Not the usual bargirl BS channel that are a dime a dozen. He's got a pay account on his channel and if you want to drop a few bob to help the guy out so be it. Good grief.

As tons of expats get thoroughly sick at this new system, watch the real estate market get flooded with homes and condos; further saturating the resale market. Watch all the prices plummet even further when retirees either pick up and leave for Cambo, Vietnam, Malayasia or PI or simply choose to retire elsewhere.

Immigration don't get brown-envelopes for condo sales, and recent policies don't seem focused on the well-being rest of the citizenry. But on the flipside, many expats may move here now who don't have 65K Baht/mo income, and wouldn't risk prison with the "felony income-document" letter, but who can figure out how to send money in and out to satisfy the new proposed standard. There could be more expats renting condos than ever, depending on how the new rules are set-up.
I have a fairly modest life and work outside of Thailand. I travel back 4 times a year. Many of my friends in Thailand have a significantly more modest life than myself (some solely on social security). It almost seems like the Thai gov't only wants flash millionaires to retire in Thailand and let's be honest, I know quite few of those. It is hardly realistic and actually seems far more xenophobic to me.

I already send a monthly amount to my Mrs each month while I am out for the country. I may have to get a join account with the Mrs (both names) and start transferring $ to her there, solely so I won't have to have a separate one for the requirement.
