  1. My choice as new England manager would be Big Sam Allardyce. He wants the job, has bags of experience and is a proven motivator. His "style" of football is much derided but he generally gets the best out of what he's got. Anelka, Djorkaeff, Okocha, Hierro, Campo, Gardner, and plenty of others were class players at Bolton and for a more recent success story the form of Jermain Defoe under Big Sam at Sunderland says it all. Southgate would be a bad pick, he's had repeated failures in management and is ultimately a loser.

    Is there a little Sam?

One reason we other nations find it so funny when England lose due to your "football language" Big Ron, the boy done well etc.

Pathetic getting beaten by such a tiny island but thanks for the laugh Iceland!

  2. OP you think you were hard done to, saying you were sick and that was why you were late.

Nothing my friend. I was in a coma unable to tell my wife to fix my extension.

We were fined 20.000 baht, for overstay, even doctors letter was rejected.

Not immigration officers ego, Thai law. Sickness is no excuse that is what immigration say.

    "we" were fined?

Doctor letters are usually accepted. Your case sounds incredible. Did you give the money directly to immigration or via your wife?

  3. So how is it that the 'real' 10,000 baht fine can be negotiated down to 6,000 baht?

That issue alone makes the whole procedure appear vulnerable to corruption and abuse.

As I wrote before the maximum fine is 10,000 baht.

A lower fine can be imposed and is at the discretion of the officer with the authority do do it.

Interesting as I have a Thai friend with a hotel who says that 6000 a person is unheard of.

Learn to speak Thai properly and learn how to 'negotiate' properly OP.

  4. No thanks I refuse to learn that scribble, only leads to more stress and arguments so I let the mrs handle all such matters, that's what she's there for.

Exactly ,though my Thai wife is only semi literate ,and i mostly rely on the 12 year old step daughter .'-)

    Unbelievable
  5. I agree. People act like learning to read Thai is impossible, but it's not that hard, and it really helps you make sense of the world around you, rather than being basically illiterate here.

Its first i am thiking then start long stay in Thailand.

After few weeks I understood what will often hear the Thai language speech 5-10 min the meaning only "solly"

    So then:

No thanks I refuse to learn that scribble, only leads to more stress and arguments so I let the mrs handle all such matters, that's what she's there for.

I also came to this ideas

We are a member of pizzacompany, they have all our details, but it still takes my wife 5 minutes on the phone to order the same pizza's as we always do. What a system!

When you do business with small company's you can really expect anything to go wrong, i still wonder if they do it on purpose or are just that uneducated. Even in restaurants so many things go wrong that we prefer to eat at home, and i always let me wife order in Thai.

Thailand needs European internetshops, they can have 100% perfect service and are still much cheaper then Thai shops.

The times i got a perfect service like that in Thailand i can count on one hand.

I order online on about 1 min. Also you get 100 baht discount for doing so.

I'd hate to be dependent on my wife for everything, it would seriously affect my self esteem.

  6. Although caffeine and tramadol are both psychtropic drugs, comparing is rather foolish.

Tramadol is a HIGHLY addictive dangerous drug.

Do you have evidence for that claim ?

Links to reliable scientific/academic sources would be appreciated

    Thanks

I agree that it is a highly addictive drug and have experience of addiction.

    Denial is common with addiction.

  7. I have a complaint.

There is someone over on Teak Door, who is calling himself POTYhead with three posts all against me. Who is being rude to me and calling me a drunk and saying i am upset about the fact i dont have lots of votes here. And that i am a narcisist.

It is a known fact that i post on both Forums, as do others, I do not appreciate that abuse.

So, if that person is a member here - it is not on, at all. This is supposed to be a fun, have a laugh thing. And to be quite honest - i am happy i even got one vote. But to be nasty to me on another Forum is out of line. Quite upset me, actually.

And POTYhead, if you are reading this. You are a sad person. I hope Santa bypasses your house...

I guess you ain't a Christian - forgiveness and all that. You do like a drink I'll say!

  8. What job? If you have had three back to back contracts then it can be construed as an ongoing contract.

Do you have a link to this ?

NO. It was told to me by a senior manager in my local Labour department.

OK, so that is worth the paper it is written on ;-)

Yes it is. I have a friend who is a teacher and was fired after 10 years with one school. His contracts were yearly and he got, with the help of the Labour Dept. lawyers 10 months of severance pay.

  9. it is illegal to enter the uk on any other passport if you have British citizenship you must enter on the british passport

on a different note you now cannot leave the uk without a passport or official id of some kind whether by land sea air or private charter, civil rights campainers now claim that without id you are in effect in custody in the uk

If one is a British citizen, there is no need to use another passport.
