  1. Ladprao Road between Union Mall and Ratchada has about 20-30cm on the road. Despite reading reports that the road was closed, cars, trucks and buses are still using it. The pavement has water on it and motorcycle taxis are using the sidewalk wherever possible to and from the subway. Some sub-sois on Ladprao are still dry while others are not.

Phahonyothin road outside Central is about 30-40cm deep on the road. I saw a couple of boats passing by so that tells you how deep it is. You can walk on the pavements but it is knee high in places.

  2. I live 50 M from Lat Phrao MRT 21station. I have been in Chiang Mai for a week since they kept saying Chatuchuk was to be flooded. I understand it flooded yesterday from watching TV-but also saw a conflicting post Chumpol (ny sub-district) not flooded yet. Can anyone verify this?

My flight returns Monday and am concernced I may have to extend if this MRT station closes probably can't get taxi to take me home from the airport. Will need to change my flight and probably my hotel as they said they are booked so I can't stay past Sunday. Thanks.

I live in the same area as yourself. Ladprao Road around Big C isn't too bad. It is however flooded at the Union Mall end and at the Ladprao/Ratchada intersection. I think the area won't suffer badly from the floods but it may get marooned between Ratchada and Vipavadee roads. MRT is still open today, but I can't see it staying open if the flooding gets any worse.

  3. Can anyone confirm how much of area around Central lad Prao is flooded and how deep?

Is Chatuchak/MoChit flooded? there is some warning.

I live Vipavadee 16 which is almost at Sutthisan--opposite Thai Rath. I am out of town but need to get home. If I can.

    Eddy

it is at the main junction and has not moved along Phahonyothin towards the Market as Chatuchak yet, what I saw this morning on VR in the bus was depths of about ankle to mid way between ankle and knee height closer to the area around Horwang. My office is opposite St Johns so waiting to see what happens

The small khlong between Ladprao 18 and Vipavadee 20 is beginning to overspill. The mooban next to the Khlong will be flooded very shortly.

  4. I've got this free cable(charoen) in my apartment. Was flicking through it looking for something to watch earlier and came across St Mirren v Hibs live. It was on a channel called CTH. I was pleased that I'd found it but after watching about 10 mins of it, I remembered how bad our game is and watched something else.

  5. Double header this weekend. Off to watch Bangkok Glass v Tot tomorrow with Spit the dog. And then we're off to Muangthong v Thai Port on Sunday evening. Hopefully a shock win for the Klong Toey Army.

Read that Buriram PEA with their Kingpower connections are in talks to buy a large share of Leicester City F.C. with the possibility of one or two of Leicester's young 'uns playing over here! I can just imagine it ...

'Tommy son, you need to go out on loan to get first team some experience.'

'Where am I going, gaffer? Newcastle? Milton Keynes? Rochdale? Berwick Rangers? Skegness?'

'Mmmmmm ... actually you're off to play in the Premier League.'

    'Fantastic! Where?'

'Well, it's the Thai Premier League and the team plays in the middle of nowhere in a place called Buriram.'

    'Eh? What? Where? <deleted>?!?'

Did you see the Bangkok Glass bunnies?

  6. FA Cup 4th round draw

    Navy Rayong v BKK Utd

    CHONBURI v Samut Songkhram

    Army v PEA

    Sisaket v TTM

    BEC Tero v Nakhon Pathom

    Rajpracha v SriRacha

    Bang Phra v Osotspa

Muang Thong v Air Force Utd

When will these ties take place SriRachaShark?

  7. I went to watch Police v Thai Port tonight. Thai Port won 1-0 and overall probably deserved to win. Police Utd had a couple of chances but they never looked like scoring.

It was my first visit to the Thammasat Stadium and I thought it was a decent stadium. The problem is that such a large arena is wasted when there are only 2000 fans there. Why not relocate to a smaller stadium? It must be impossible for a team called Police Utd to attract a decent local support. I'm also not a fan of football stadiums with running tracks around them. It reminds me of Eastern European teams back in the 80's. I much prefer going to Muang Thong or Thai Port as you can get close to the action. :)

  8. I went to watch Thai port v Samut Songkhram today and was disappointed with the reaction of the Samut Songkhram players at the awarding of a penalty against them. They were so upset that they decided to walk off the pitch for 20 minutes as a protest. The incident happened in the 75th minute and there was still plenty of time to get back in the game and win it. They should start deducting points from teams that behave like this.

This has been a problem in the Thai leagues for years - even the Thai national team has a history of taking such action, most (in)famously against Singapore in 2007. Sadly, the authorities (FAT,TPL) seem reluctant to come down heavy, even on serial offenders like Samut Songkhram. A points deduction makes perfect sense. In SS's case, I would dock them three points for Saturday's walk off and impose a suspended ten point penalty as they have "previous".

On a lighter note, I thought the incident livened up what had been a pretty dull match. ;)

It was a dull game. When I first saw the penalty incident, it looked like a penalty from where I was sat at the far end of the stadium. It's only since I've watched the tv replay that it's clear to see that the keeper got the ball first. If it wasn't for that decision though I reckon it would have ended 0-0. Neither of those teams had much about them in front of goal.

  10. In your area of town you have Muang Ake and Muang Ake Vista. They would be ideal for you as they aren't too difficult to play and they are generally easy to walk on and get a tee off time. They are both near Rangsit University on Pahonyothin 87. If you play the Vista between Mon - Fri the green fee is 600 baht and 230 caddy fee before midday. It also has night golf but it is a bit more expensive as you'll have to pay a surcharge for the floodlights. The other Muang Ake course has a sport's day on Monday with cheap green fees. The Vista doesn't have a driving range but Muang Ake does while renting clubs is generally about 500 Baht per time.

  11. I went to play Chuan Cheun yesterday and upon arrival at 9.30am was told that there were no caddies available until 11am. I've never encountered this problem before playing golf in Thailand. Usually at most clubs there are an abundance of caddies waiting around. It appeared that most of them had gone back home and the management didn't bother looking for replacements.

Anyway, we didn't wait around as there were several other groups in front of us. Ended up making the short drive over to Muang Ake Vista and managed to play a round there.

  12. Another transfer window closes and yet again Ashley and co have done nothing to strengthen the team. Even though we are currently top of the league the squad still looks threadbare and I doubt it would be able to attain a top 2 finish if we have an injury crisis similar to last season.

Nevertheless, I'm glad that we've managed to hang onto S Taylor, Jonas and on current form Nolan. Provided that these guys remain focussed, they should be a cut above at this level. Also I'm glad that we resigned Lovenkrands as I think that he'll get us a few goals this season.

  13. Starting to look as if O'Leary could quite possibly be boss in the next few days, if this mornings headlines are to be believed.

Its unfcukenbelievable how one man can make so many mistakes time and time and time again, and then thinks he's going to be OK to go to St James's Park on Saturday.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/footbal...id-1770541.html

My initial thought about O'Leary getting the job was one of disgust. Like yourself I think the guy is a pillock. But we need someone to steer our rudderless ship and whoever gets the job whether it be O'Leary, Kinnear etc needs to have the backing of the fans. Booing and complaining isn't going to solve anything. I just hope that something can get sorted this week so that we can at least get some new players in before the transfer window closes.

  14. Spurs sign Bassong - Frenchman showing their true colours in the trenches.

And by the looks of it Beye is off to Hull City of all places.

Why not sell some of the crap like Butt Nolan Collicini Ameobi etc etc etc etc... before these 2 who were by far the best players last season. :)

Ashley youre a fat useless vindictive <deleted>.

It's all looking rather bleak. No full time manger to speak of and any of the decent players that we had are gradually being sold off. That's now Martins, Bassong and Beye gone. I hope that we can keep the geordie lads like Taylor and Carroll. At least they will play with some passion. Apart from that, where are the new signings going to come from? If the fat <deleted> remains in charge of the club past the transfer window closing, it's vital that the squad is strengthened. However that doesn't seem likely. It appears that we'll have to rely on some of the younger lads breaking through. Although by the looks of things we don't have any future Gazzas on our books.

At this moment in time I can see us finishing nearer the bottom of the Championship than the top. :D
