  1. The most worrying thing for me isn't Ashley and Wise controlling the club, or Kevin Keegan's dispirited feelings. The most worrying thing is the performance on the field if yesterday is anything to go by. Newcastle deserved to lose to a very ordinary looking Hull. The whole performance was flat. There was absolutely no creativity from the midfield and as for Shola Ameobi :o What a complete waste of space!

It looks like its going to be another season of doom and gloom. :D

  2. Mike Ashley is a huge embarrassment in all respects and they will be better off when he sells up and wobbles off to stir things up elsewhere.

He might be an embarrassment but at least our chaiman can down a pint of beer quicker than your chairman. :o

  3. It doesn't look like its on Star. Might get it on a Thai Channel at 9pm.

On another note, I tuned in to watch the Celtic game on True Sports 3 earlier. The first 10 minutes weren't shown as the were still screening live snooker from Chonburi. It a new season yet we still we have the amateurish coverage. :o

  4. Ropey win for gers today away to Falkirk 0-1. Still 3 points nonetheless. Falkirk miss a penalty

As a Falkirk supporter, I was pleased with our performance but disappointed with the result. I just got the feeling that once the penalty was missed that Rangers would go on to win. I suppose for Rangers they be happy with the result but not the performance.

Anyway, it was a shit penalty. I'm sure that Jockstar, even after an all day drinking session could have saved that pen. :o

  5. Honestly I see no problem with them declaring Buddhist Lent day alcohol free if that's what they want but they should ultimately let the people decide whether they go along with it or not. They also should allow hotels, restaurants and bars dependant on the tourist trade to decide whether to refuse to serve alcohol or not according to the wishes of the owner. I also wouldn't mind but this decree will only ever be applied to the hotels, restaurants and bars frequented, in the main, by tourists and expats. All the little local mom'n'pop stores will carry on regardless and I bet all the police/army run gambling dens will continue to serve.

I actually feel sorry for tourists that have just arrived and get caught out by this enforced alcohol ban. It must be a bit of a sickener to have saved up and planned a holiday and then to arrive and find that their only alowed to drink warm milk and cocoa before bedtime.

It's no problem for Thais and most ex-pats as we know there will be a ban on alcohol sales so we buy in advance or as has been stated earlier we go to the mom n' pop shop and buy it there.

  6. I've even gone and sorted out the kit and roped in a bunch of over 35's to suffer the pain with me. The only problem is, that most of them have been playing regularly,

    Is Sunderland playing? :o:D

Happy birthday mate. Have a good one.

    Wye aye man!

    Mackem Traitor :D

Anyway Mr Toad, it should fun. The beer usually starts by about 4pm. By that time most teams aren't playing for anything so the beer will be flowing. :D

  7. I would have possibly gone if the game had been played at the stadium behind MBK. It's just too much hassle to get out to Rajamangala from the city centre if its pissing down with rain. For the Thailand v Iraq game last season it took over 2 hours to reach the stadium from downtown. :o

  8. There has been a lot said on what's happened off the pitch but the sad thing was that on the pitch, Rangers never really showed up. If Rangers had gone for it, I reckon that Zenit were there for the taking. I think Smith boobed by playing only one up as Darchville was isolated. Nacho Novo has been in good form lately and should have merited a starting place. Overall it was a very disappointing performance.

  9. Firstly I suppose I'd better congratulate Man U's title this year, but of course once more a pretty serious allegation has asrisen.

Now, believe me this is not sour grapes, rather I am particuarly proud in the way our team fought back against all odds to get within touching distance to the Champions, but how many of you out there think that refs give United 10-15 points per season?

And I'm talking serious stuff. OK United had a penalty awarded against them at Chelsea (their first and only penalty against all year)Maybe the ref didn't see it. The average this year was 4 penalties per team ( for, not against) United had 8 awarded.

Now look at sundays title showdown, where Ferdinand inside his box, without not a player around him, knocked the ball out for a corner with his arm. It was a penalty that even Stevie Wonder would have seen. The same happened a few weeks ago, when a United plyer knocked it out with his hand (Ferdinand again if I remember)The crazy thing about it this week was none of the Wigan players even appealed, when normally an opposing player appeals if the ball comes closer than 5 yards to the oppositions hand in the box. Why? The fiasco at Old Trafford in Grants first game in charge has been talked about enough well over the season. OK the standard of refereeing in the Premiership was <deleted> this season. Are refs themselves not bothering to keep up the standard, or are they being influenced? We did not have all the bad breaks either, Chelsea's penalty against Liverpool early in season proved that. But what happened to the ref that made that blunder. He was sacked on the spot.

I think that even being a Chelsea supporter, I do look at most games with a fair attitude, so what is going wrong? Anyone agree with me, or am I ( and a deal of others) being totally paranoid?

I don't think that the Ferdinand incident merited a penalty but I do agree that Scholes should have received a second yellow and should have been sent off.

Man Utd probanly get more penalties than they concede because they spend more time in the opposition's box than their own. I'm not sure of the statistics involving Derby but I'm sure they would have conceded more penalties than they were awarded.

Chelsea have also had decisions in their favour to this season. I can remeber against Newcastle at the Bridge when Kalou scored the winner in the dying minutes when he was at least 3 yards offside. It wasn't even close and the linesman got that decision terribly wrong. Sam Allardyce went on to say that the bad decision cost him his job. :o

  10. 2) i have observed that thais in gyms prefer to look pretty, socialize, talk, chat, fiddle with their phones and not exert themselves in the slightest manner whatsoever...hence completely defeating the purpose of even going to the gym

Yes this is so true. :o

I didn't renew the membership at my Sports Club this year because I got sick and tired of having to suffer Thai soap operas being blasted across the gym at full blast. It was so loud that I had to turn my MP3 up to the max volume just to drown out the noise. :D

  11. It should break the monotony of not having any football to watch during the summer. It's just a pity that ESPN/Star couldn't buy the rights. We all complain about Turd Visions coverage but at least they don't have commercials every time there is a break in play unlike the terrestrial Thai TV. :o

I thi nk they did Mate but only for India for some strange reason..Does anyone think the Thai TV will have the option of the English Commentary ??

Yes mate, you can select the English audio if you have True Visions.

To be honest, I'm not really bothered who wins it. If I were allowed to have a bet on it then I'd go for the Germans. They look stronger than they were before and Ballack looks like he's hitting form at just the right time. :D

  13. I am not sure of his stats but Tommy Burns who came with a glowing CV from Celtic, was hailed as Reading's new messiah, he filled the club with Scottish Has-Beens, players like Robert Fleck, Jimmy McIntrye and Ray Houghton.

It was hard to find an Englihman at the club at the time , although he did sign Graeme Murty, that was about the best thing he ever did.

The club lanquished in a brand new stadium in a mid table position in League One until they eventually sacked him and brought in Alan Pardew who did turn things around

I wouldn't even say that Tommy Burns had a glowing CV at Celtic. At the time Rangers had Gascoigne, Laudraup etc. and were possible at the strongest they've been in modern times. Celtic were poor under Burns and they were even struggling to finish second to Rangers under him.

I know he signed a lot of Scottish has-beens for Reading but the worst signing had to be Andy McClaren from Dundee Utd. It was well known around Scotland that he was an alcoholic, but when he went to Reading he totally lost it. He was eventually suspended for failing a drugs test and kicked out of Reading.

Every time the Scotland job comes up, Burns is always linked with it, along with Souness, and there is a collective sigh of relief when neither is appointed.

  14. It's nice to hear something positive about Craig Bellamy. There is no doubting that he is a class player but during the last few years he's managed to hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Anyway as he spends half his footballing career out injured it's not surprising that he's finding other things to keep himself occupied. Lets' hope all goes well with the academy. :o
