  1. Dear John.

In March,I stayed at the Montri, near the Thaphae gate.

900baht per night, including an excellent breakfast. You'll have to ask them about monthly/long term rates.

Seemed to have everything you are requiring.

  2. I think Ulys right, Blinky is a cool dude, and isn't above it all to roar off at big speeds on motorbikes and hang with the less well off farang brothers. Only a few wealthy farang have the balls to do that.

So you're wrong to attack poor Blinky like that.

But I think what the attacker is trying to do is strike back at the Struttin' Steves and Fashy Flloyds from Xanadu out there etc etc.

Ironically this is what typically give's the Blinky Bills of LOS a bad name.

I'd also say that it's about time the Frugal Freddys had more of a say on TV and this is exactly the thread to speak about it on.

For the "millionth" time.......I do NOT strut :o

  3. Equal time, here...

We need to come up with an apt description for the opposite of "Cheap Charlie:"

    Extravagant Eddy?

    Flashy Floyd?

    Spendthrift Sam?

    Thriftless Theodore?

    Overkill Oliver?

    Show-off-Sherman?

    Ostentatious Oscar?

    Flaunting Ferdinand?

    Struttin' Steve?

    Boisterous Billy?

    Sedgewick Silver Spoon?

    Xavier From Xanadu?

    Do we need a poll?

I will gladly use my 100th post to say..........I do not like "Struttin' Steve" :o

  4. Tried out the Royal India for the first time in its new location (in the small bars Soi just past the UN Irish). ...

Can you elaborate/specify somewhat more on "(in the small bars Soi just past the UN Irish)" re the location? Am not a CM resident, but reasonably familiar with it.

Happy to help. I was there today and as before the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Shame about the screaming masonry drill out back somewhere at peak lunch time, and the less than fresh tablecovers but, ah well! This is very very good & fan cooled and NOT The Chedi and NOT their prices, huh?i!!

Go north along Moon Muang Rd (inside the moat on the east side) and pass Thapae Gate. Take the next main left which is Rachawitee Rd. At the first traffic lights turn right and immediately turn right again (1st gap in the sidewalk) into the 'interesting area' of many bars and live music places.

Royal India is about 30m in on your left. Pass it and there is usually parking spaces along there on the left.

Their new Thai waitress was not on top form today. Best ensure your order is understood (in Thai or English) by the Indian proprietor or his wife.

Went there today, and found it with the directions above ....no problem.

    Excellent masala,and a crackin' naan!

    Thankfully no masonry drill!!!!!

    Good menu

  5. I live in the Lao PDR (can we at least get that name right?) :D because one, I want to and two, because my lovely wife is from here. Yes it's got it's downsides but they are completely outweighed by the ups. We gave it a try in the UK - but it just wasn't for either of us!

Not much else too add really! :D Enjoying semi-retirement at the grand old age of 33 . . . :D

Plans are a foot to actually make something out of my stay here so it may become fully permanent completely with residency if all goes well! :D

Even then I'll be managing and sitting back watching the money coming in! :o

How do get on with visas/visa runs etc???????

    Just read this!!!! Sorry.
