  1. "That's the problem with western people. Hypocrites."

Educated hypocrites dear boy. Your debating skills are a joke. You may consider yourself educated, however the western hypocrites you so fondly refer to us as, would beg to differ.

I'm not going to enter into another argument concerning educated debates with someone of such obvious limited mental capacity as yourself. I will refrain from calling you a retard from fear of upsetting genuine retards.

Please come back when you've grown up.

  2. The diiference between Istanbul and the disputed states of Southern Thialand is that you don't see too many Byzantineans demanding their land back

    .

Thailand has colonized the southern states and supressed the people. While the UK granted independance to the countries it colonised (India, and a whole host of African countries) Thailand still lives in the past. Britain took control of the rest of Malaysia and allowed Thailand to keep the disputed states only as a sweetener. Eventually Malaysia fought for and won its rightful independence from the UK.

Similarly Loas was taken from Thailand by the French, who also abandoned colonialism and granted them independence. Even Russia has realized the error of their ways. Leaving Thailand firmly entombed in the colonial ways of the past Using your logic, Thailand should belong to Japan, afterall didn't they conquer Thailand? Or does Thai history differ once more from the facts.

And by the way: use wikipeadia as a source of information would get you laughed out of any university of note

  3. All my assignments are completed and submitted electronically. One problem I encounter is copying and pasting of answers from the internet. Fortunately this is easily detected and to help prevent it I deduct double the marks from their overall grade. I make this clear from the beginning and do not allow resubmissions.

Recently, during team submissions and to demonstrate the consequences, I warned my M6 students that if any team copied and pasted all teams would lose marks. I emphasized that I want to teach and not spend my time checking for plagiarism. 3 teams out of 24 didn't head the warning and I carried out my threat

I am actually going to reinstate the marks for the innocent teams, but not before they've sweated a little and argued their point. I am looking forward to a healthy classroom debate in which they will be able to demonstrate their speaking skills

  4. Dear Mr Grumbleweed, Let's just agree to disagree, on our opinions over your statement about Thai women.

I'm sure your a very nice guy and we could have a laugh over a pint or two.

Life is to short to argue or make enemies.........Agreed? wai2.gif

"calling me a Leeds fan really hurt"

Nice to see a little levity in the thread ... wink.png

    .

in hindsight I must admit it very quickly snowballed way out of proportion, apologies to all concerned

With every word you write…. You are obviously not familiar with the phrase “Better to let everyone think you are stupid rather than speak and remove all doubt”?

The “cough cough” was a light hearted reference to many posts on this forum, although I must admit that my humour is above some people’s head

“Looks to me like your a sore loser, because the hunter got hunted and shot down” are you talking about?

“I guess you support 'Leeds United' then” - and also assume that I am somewhat interested in football

    Yes I am a Tyke - well done1

At no time did I say I think you are chemically retarded, Anyone not out of their “intellectual depth” would be able to comprehend that the statement was about attacking the person and not the principle. To do so displays a lack of tolerance to other people on the basis that their opinions are different from their own., One cause of which is insufficient mental capacity to entertain two differing opinions at the same time.

Probably the most dumbed down way of explaining this is .......

While we should quite rightly hate cancer, it does not mean we must hate cancer sufferers

With regard to your Thai “girlfriend’s” comments about your manhood, Next you’ll be telling us she calls you hansum man.

    Carry on digging

    Hugs and kisses - G

Some one I know (cough cough) uses this to his advantage. by playing shy and lonely, and appearing gullible. the hunter becomes lost in kerching land. Once they smell blood the panties are down to the ankles, even before the first meeting.

A little bit of cheesiness in the form of "you're not like the other girls" "I feel comfortablre with you" (*all online) and its game over They do not realize that they have become the prey and invitations to visit soon follow, with them providing accomodation and tour guide, as well as the main objective

For the more local girls as above but remain stingy (easy when you're from Yorkshire) once they realize you ain't ever gonna be a walting ATM, they scarper, by which time the objective has already been achieved

*The deal needs to be done online to avoid unneccessary expenses suich as food and drink

So the biggest majority of Thai women on dating sites are 'hunters' and farangs are the 'game'.

Then you proceed to manipulate these Thai women into a false belief, so you become the 'hunter' and the Thai woman the 'game'.

Well, if that's your solution to finding a decent Thai woman with whom you can have a meaningful relationship, then your only going to get what you deserve.

Those kind of women are not just prevalent to Thailand, they exist everywhere.

Having a low esteem of women, usually means you have a low esteem of yourself.

A beer guzzling, dick swing farang, just looking to get in a woman's pants is likely to attract like for like.

So don't tar all women with the same brush, look in the miiror first and ask yourself why would a woman want that!

Reading some replies, I'd go as far as to say it's probably harder for a Thai woman to meet a decent respectable farang, than the other way around.

    "Beer guzzling dick swinging farang"

OUCH! It would appear I've touched upon a sore point.

As attacking the person rather than the principle is a trait of either the less mentally evolved or the chemically retarded, I apologize for not being able to respond in kind

However, having some knowledge of psychology I can respond to your comment concerning "low self esteem"

Quite often, to compensate for an inferiority complex, people will attempt to associate themselves with success. A common way of doing so is to support a successful football club and broadcast their support to the world, using such things as their avatar. A common name for such behaviour is "little dick syndrome". Which, funnily enough, brings us nicely to dick swinging........

    Need I go on?

  8. They can outlaw the eating of dogs but they will never stop it. The question ought to be; why the hell should they? Here they have a golden opportunity to rid the country of this verminous infestation of soi dogs, and all we get is the bleeding heart brigade screaming how inhuman it is.

While I would have no qualms about the wretched creatures being burned alive by the truck load, I realize that the actual treatment may be an issue for some, and being part of a regulated meat trade means they would be afforded the same protection as other animals enroute to the plate.

The meat is murder brigade should remember that humans by nature are omnivores and therefore vegetarianism is unnatural, which, coincidentally, so are dogs.

Your savagery and inhumanity is on display for all to see. By the way, the soi dogs are almost certainly not the dogs sourced for the meat trade. As other posters have made abundantly clear, Thai people would not endorse collection of these dogs to supply the lovers of canine flesh. Such dogs would also be too scrawny for human consumption.

And where exactly do the 10s of thousands of dogs come from?

    You obviously don't know Thais

  10. Hi Dog,

Thanks for your valued input. I think getting the students to work on their own initiative in the flipped classroom will be a problem here too, maybe even more so than in Japan. What I'm hoping for is that by combining the two, there are enough GAFE add ons (apps) to provide a novelty interest. For example submitting their projects in the form of a website and perhaps adding a competitive element.

The GAFE has already exceeded my expectations. Having readable assignments, presentented exactly how I want, which I file, save and access from anywhere is only one benefit. Actually being able to view, edit and comment on the assignments while the students are doing them is priceless. I have set the system up so that I have a spreadsheet with links to all assignments.

What I'm hoping for is more input like yours so that I can prepare during the closed term. In an ideal world we would have a full time administrator taking care of it. However, where I am at least, the pork will be drinking aviation fuel before that happens

    Regards G

    .

  11. I’ve recently setup a Google Apps For Education Account (GAFE) for the school where I work, . Although still experimenting with different methods of such things as student account creation and assignment submission, the initial groundwork is beginning to pay off. However I do have a number of points.

First of all: the information available on the internet is mainly, if not all, based upon western style education systems and experiences. I would be particularly interested to hear about the experiences of how foreign teachers here are using this, or similar, applications, as a means of implementing paperless classrooms..

Secondly: I’m not even sure that the powers that be are even aware of what I am doing. and as you can imagine, as a foreigner, getting either the school administration or Thai teachers interested is a virtual non starter. Therefore I would like to know if there are any situations where Thais themselves are participating in any similar projects.

As an aside; another recent introduction to education (or recent in these parts at least) is the “flipped classroom”. After a little albeit half hearted research, my initial response is that GAFE and the flipped classroom were made for each other. Whether Thailand is ready for them is another story.

    Regards G
