What does overstaying and the "revocation" of visa runs have to do with this?
And I think it's still a good deal/risk for $15k, no other country will give you instant residency for a comparable sum, which is what this practically is and Thailand is so much fun. Nowhere in Europe can you get residency for less than $300k. Even South American countries charge at least $100k.
NamKangMan seems to be very bitter and prejudiced about this for some reason so it's no use having a conversation with you if you've already made up your mind.

Unless you're a Thai citizen what do you care about the government? We're all just looking for a way to stay after all.

That's good. It works out to about 8 US dollars a day over 5 years. Beer or dog food money. Very tempting and a fantastic deal.
But what happens after the 5 years are up? Pay another 500k Baht?
"Beer or dog food money." - I'd rather spend it on "beer and dog food" than a dodgy scheme that probably will not last 5 years, just like the Thai Governments in the last decade did not last.
But the people who got the card 5 years ago still have the visa don't they?
Just like the 30 day visa runs have been stopped, what makes you think they will not/could not honour the Elite Card in the future????
It's a visa, not citizenship.
Because that is a 30 day visa vs this being a 5 year visa? Unless they canceled existing visas and kicked people out you haven't posed a remotely intelligent question. You aren't entitled to a visa run. This is different.
From what I understand one doesn't need to leave Thailand at all for 5 years with this. So there is no question of a visa run.

Prostrate yourself and would be more convincing with a few amulets round your neck. Walk backwards whilst waiing and finish with a star jump.
Very funny, maybe you should try going anywhere with a third world passport and see how you get treated.

This time I'm going to wear a dress shirt, tie and trousers and have booked one of those so called VIP carts but I really hate the stress and suspense of passport control.

When entering Thailand with a third world passport (Indian) albeit on a Tourist visa, should I Wai (bow + sawa dee ka) to the immigration person at passport control?
Or is it too conspicious or trying too hard?
The last time I went to Thailand they asked me a ton of questions as to where I was staying, who I'm traveling with etc.

I know that the application form has already been posted in the thread, but what else do you need to send them other than photocopies of passport and 500kTHB? Nothing else? No bank statement/degree/home country police certificate etc.?

Thanks Stanley78 and everyone else who has posted in this thread. It is very helpful and informative.
I have just one question, is there any restriction about the nationalities that are eligible for this program? Can an Indian passport holder apply? If I (Indian passport holder) am in Bangkok on a tourist visa, do I just fill out the form and pay the money without even leaving Thailand? This is amazing. I know many people here in India who would jump at such an offer.

I'm getting there on a 60 day tourist visa next week.
I visited once before 2012 and have an unused multiple entry 180 day visa on my passport from last year. Will this unused visa pose any problems/questions?
And this time I want to stay indefinitely. How many visa runs can I, as an Indian passport holder, expect to realistically be able to do?
Are Indian nationals available for the Elite Card (500k Baht) program?
Thanks

Any specific information about which consulates will not do visa for Indian?
The Jack Golf company seems to do this for Indians as they list a specific price for Indians.
Thanks
