Hi all,
I have a new Non Immigrant O visa and went to the immigration (Cheang Wattana) to get an extension of stay (1 year). The lady told me I have to be in the country for at least 45 days and after that can get the 1 year extension based on sufficient funds in the bank account. I have never heard of this 'rule'
Is this an official requirement?

Dear all,
Due to the enormous amount of requests made, I have decided to come back here and in my own way let you know what is about to happen in the short, medium and long term.

Here's the man with all the silver, or maybe none of the silver, talking.
J.P. Morgan's Kasman: Dollar Isn't Weak Enough, Fed on Hold until 2013Snip:
He added that while the outlook for the U.S. economy has darkened a bit of late, underlying growth remains on a decent 3% trend and the labor market should start generating 175,000 to 200,000 jobs per month this year.
175,000 to 200,000 jobs assuming full time? In exactly what bizniz?
Aaaaaaaaand: that resistance of other central banks to run tighter monetary policy is interfering with the U.S. dollar’s ability to weaken.
Anyway it's just his opinion.

Thank you so much for the positive news Midas.
Reading that, it really felt like after experiencing weeks of cold weather and heavy rains, the sun was finally becoming visible again from behind the dark clouds.
The road we traveled for the past few years, full with potholes, crossing unstable bridges and not knowing what to expect after the next turn, I can see where this path is leading us to as the view is now unobstructed and the weather is finally clearing up.
Please join me in this glorious moment and feel the excitement that comes from realizing that we have made it!
Please sing with me the following song and go see your family and friends and hug them while saying: WE MADE IT!!!!!
The happy days are here again!

I think it's a great idea.
Hide all of the old buildings and build a new better looking Bangkok and as it is elevated no more worries about flooding.
Finally some out of the box thinking.

The president of the most glorious nation in the universe said he regrets an earlier vote made in 2006.
Snip:
White House spokesman Jay Carney on Monday said President Obama regrets voting against an increase in the federal debt ceiling in 2006 as a senator from Illinois.
At the time, then-Sen. Obama joined 47 other senators to vote against raising the nation's borrowing limit — a vote he said signaled "leadership failure" by the Bush administration. Senators narrowly passed the measure by a vote of 52 to 48.
Mr. Carney said the president has since come to view that position as a "mistake."
"He realizes now that raising the debt ceiling is so important to the health of this economy and the global economy that it is not a vote that, even when you are protesting an administration's policies, you can play around with, and you need to take very seriously the need to raise the debt limit so that the full faith and credit of the United States government is maintained around the globe," Mr. Carney told reporters.

No issue at Bangkok Bank.
Just make sure you fill in family support as the reason for transfer.

Dear 12,
Remember one thing.
There is no spoon......

Dear 12, I find this part of your comment interesting.
the problem of an increasing and non-sustainable population.
Could you please elaborate on this, especially the part of non-sustainable population.

Believe it or not I have somewhere on one of my HD a report about voice recognition SW that was/is able to translate spoken Thai into English including many of the dialects. This program is only available for government and was tested more then ten years ago if I remember well.
Another thing I have a few years ago was a device from a German company the size of a walkman that was able to translate from spoken Thai to English and vice versa and when making a picture of a sign in written Thai to translate it.
Most if not all of phone calls made the conversations are recorded and analyzed on key words, phrases and certain patterns.

You see, Naam or Anyling will not give you some advice, Ii wonder why.
-
Again I ask, what is your advice to invest in something for 9 months that will have a safe return?
I therefore challenge you and Naam to come up with somehing to invest 800.00 THB and have an increase in value (above deposit rates)in 9 months.

<br /><br /><br />So why don't ya give a few examples how to make a nice profit in 9 months without the need for a bit of luck?<br /><br />
<br />Naam presented a fact. Since when are facts childish ? With a bit of luck you might win the Lotterie.<br /><br />I could also give you in hindsight a million ways how to invest in thousands of other ways and make a nice profit WITH A BIT OF LUCK. Who is childish here ?<br /><br />Naam how childish,<br /><br />There are plenty of other ways to invest in Gold and make a nice profit with a bit of luck.<br /><br />I can give plenty of other examples where in a nine month period you could have made a nice profit.<br /><br />Ask your wife.....<br /><br /><br /> <img src='http://static.thaivisa.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<img src='http://static.thaivisa.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />' /><br />The Original Poster is obviously an Investor Newbie who asks for advice. Confusing him with all kind of *professional* advice will not help HIM because he will not understand and Thailand will not offer the means to carry out this advice. The same applies to *BUY GOLD!* which i consider reckless. He should be told ***DO NOT (REPEAT N O T) JEOPARDIZE THE 800K YOU NEED FOR YOUR RETIREE VISA!***

Buy Gold and Silver.
I don't think that immigration will approve that for purposes of a retirement visa, even if the advice is possibly good as an long term investment, and would certainly go a long way to appeasing the demands of a Thai GF.....
It's not about immigration, you have a pile of money and you invest it for nine months in buying some Gold.
After that, you sell and transfer back your profits into the account. Showing an active account.
and should there be no profit Alex will compensate you for your losses
for the record: gold march 2008 >$1,000/ounce, six month later $780/ounce
Naam how childish,
There are plenty of other ways to invest in Gold and make a nice profit with a bit of luck.
I can give plenty of other examples where in a nine month period you could have made a nice profit.
Ask your wife.....
