By processing the work permit do you mean extending it? I couldn't imagine why you'd have to resign because I would be of the belief that the whole process would have to start over. Maybe they're just trying to get a resignation out of you? Are you on good terms with them or do you think you are?. Every year when my work permit was a week away from expiring it was just renewed from the solicitor that handled our company business never was asked to resign until a new one was issued seems kind of fishy but then again maybe schools are different

I don't have private medical insurance I have Thailand government insurance since I worked here for many years that covers everything and it works okay for me no hassles at all. I used to have a very good customer when I was working that was an insurance agent a foreigner. He told me and these are his words mind you coming from a guy that sells insurance. He said the minute a claim comes in the first thing the insurance company does is go into defense mode they have people that look at ways that they can avoid paying out the claim or paying less than the claim is for. He said that's just the way it is with insurance companies. Over the years dealing with them in the US I have no doubt he's totally correct. I'm sure some will say here they've had no problems and everything is went smooth because they're not all the same. But this information came to me directly from a guy who sells the product take it for what it's worth

Small condo block I live in has a restaurant across the way they have a pretty decent size menu many selections. At the bottom of the menu in rather large lettering it says please order what you'd like but please please eat what you're served.

You can't do it online it's by mail and that's the only way it can be done based on the Bangkok US Embassy website. They're only accepting applications by mail have a look.

I renewed mine not long ago and was told the only option was renewing it by mail they told me they no longer take appointments for passport renewal it all had to be done through the mail. It was kind of a pain in the behind doing it that way because you have to go online to a website to pay for it you have to get a bank draft for the return of the passport to you or I did anyway. I hope they are now once again accepting appointments for renewal although I'm good for 10 years.

I had an issue with a agent selling insurance but it wasn't trying to be sold to me. Here's the background. I worked and was on the Thai social scheme paid taxes and got my medical with the government hospital that I was registered with which was in Sriracha. I had a lot of work done at that hospital including a double hip replacement and I never had to pay one baht out of pocket. Thai government picked up the whole bill and they continue to do so. So I knew another employee that was in the same position that I was in with another company and he had the government insurance also. But he made an appointment with an insurance broker upon the broker pressuring him about needing really good insurance. Well I explained to him what I had went through and how good that government insurance is despite what many think. The agent told him it really isn't that good and doesn't cover everything. Well I was told that not only does it cover everything but if my government hospital can't do a procedure that I need they will send me to a private hospital that can and I will still be covered for that 100%. So don't let the insurance people try to push you into something you don't need or don't want ask for every option.

Not a bit

I logged into wise an hour ago and got a message saying they needed to update my address if I wanted to continue using the account. I live in Thailand use a Us address of my son who luckily has the same name as myself so I had him take photos of utility bills with his name and address which will show the same as mine. He forwarded them to me via email I went back into wise got the same message to verify. I clicked next and very quickly a message came up saying we have everything we need if we need more will let you know. Unsure why they asked me to verify and then told me they didn't need any more.

Would be curious if they all had the same serial number or not?

They realize they close the gate after the horse was out no way they'll go delegalize It Now

I personally did it a couple of years ago but had an acquaintance that I recommended do it just months ago

Thank you very much for correcting me which shows why it's even more useless for some to have the pink card. Now I understand when my friend tries to check into a hotel while they won't accept the paint card they need your information and it seems that pink card doesn't hold it thank you again

You don't need to open another account I was not asked for any evidence of address my agent does my renewal or can do my renewal she said in 3 months prior. If the agent on post office that you're speaking of is Manraat then I highly recommend them because that's who I've been using for many years never a single issue every time I renew I get it back within 48 hours at the latest. Many people will say you can do it yourself and that's true and you could save yourself a few thousand baht but in my case I don't like going to immigration for any matters and using them you only have to go down find their photographer which takes a matter of 3 minutes he takes your photo in a way you go you're done. Of course all of the posts you read here about doing all of this you must remember your mileage may vary this is Thailand and things Change Daily in some cases

I have lived here on a long-term visa for 21 years. I own my own condo I inquired about a yellow book and a pink ID card and the solicitor that I do my business with told me while it may benefit some people most people it really doesn't. Many people think that the ID card while it has your passport number on it it doesn't have your extension to stay date on it which makes it virtually useless. I travel a lot around Thailand with a friend who every time tries to use his pink ID card when he checks into the hotel and while they're supposed to accept it they always want to see his passport. Regarding the Thailand Social Security I worked for 15 years and I was told the same thing about needing the yellow book to continue. The key is to go to more than one Social Security office I went to the Social Security Office in sriracha and was told I needed the yellow book to continue my medical coverage after I retire on the Social Security scheme. I went to Rayong Social Security office a week later. I was in and out of there in less than 30 minutes they copied my bank book so they could send my pension directly to my bank. Also informed me that every 16th of the month they would be deducting 432 baht from my bank account for my continued medical coverage. There was no mention whatsoever about a yellow book at the office in Rayong but Sriracha claimed it was needed. This is my experience your mileage may vary this is Thailand things Change Daily

I know a law firm that was handling a lot of company houses for people. The last I spoke with them they are no longer doing this and admitted that the House of cards would fall at some point and when it did it could be an issue. Something they don't want to be involved in should it happen

I paid an agent here in Pattaya they canceled the Visa and the passport no problem at all 400 baht I paid

They are telling people in Sriracha that you need this to continue your coverage I've got two friends that went through it. I don't disagree with you it's just different offices play by different playbooks. I had problems in Sriracha also and had to go up to Rayong where they couldn't have been friendlier. So much easier if all the organizations played by the same Playbook and each office couldn't adjust the rules to fit themselves.

Thank you for that and I'm not surprised to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they stop the medical coverage altogether for foreigners that were on the Social Security when they were working. I guess if they ever do that the ones like myself and others that pay into it privately would be grandfathered again good to know thanks for that post you'll save a lot of people the headache of trying to get this without having that yellow book and pink card

They may well require it but as I said I use an agent and I've never had to get it I even asked my agent about it she told me not to worry about it I have no reason to lie about it I don't have anybody to impress I'm just telling you my experience

I use the Pattaya office and have an agent do what needs to be done as i just do not want to be bothered. I have never had a TM30 my agent said avoid if you can as once you are in that system you are always in it. I travel as well many times a year out of Thailand always returning to my same address. Still never bothered with one of these TM30s I have the money in the bank but I do not want to have to go to Immigration ever if i can help it and so far in over 20 years have only been there 3 times. Those that are sure to post how stupid I am for spending money for an agent when i have proper funds Ok then I am stupid but not having to go down there is 100% worth it for me.

They may have changed the rules because I worked for 2 companys here in Thailand and the first one i worked for 8 years and retired and received the continued medical coverage as you say but ALSO my Thai Pension about 80K that they paid into my Thai Bank account in 10 days after i retired lump sum. Decided to take a job offer a few months later and worked 7 more years and the same exact thing the Thai pension this time was a bit over 60K and paid out in a lump sum as well . I still have the full medical cover as well that will continue as long as i let them debit my account 432 baht. Which will be forever. I will say a friend i sent to Sri Ratcha to apply for his after he retired was told you now have to be married or have a condo in your name to get these benefits. Told him to try another office and he went to Rayong and was in and out in 30 Mins all good. so YMMV.
