Pink I.D Card & Yellow Book
hereforgood replied to Bangkok Black's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Is it something you actually need? I've lived here in Thailand for 21 years worked the first 15 years. I have bought Vehicles bought condos open bank accounts and all kinds of other similar things never once have I needed or been asked for a yellow book or pink ID card. I am also still covered by Thai Social Security medically and don't need or haven't been asked for them at any of the hospitals or medical facilities either. Not sure what benefit you get from them. -
Just saw this a great read thank you very much I have only us Social Security coming in monthly I have it deposited to my US Bank and I transfer it with wise every month or two happy to see that the Social Security payments are not considered income or taxable thank you again. By the way I do understand that things can change

When people that are retired living here cry and whine like babies about having to do things the Thai way and about how saying the thais are inept. Then when they're told if they don't like it they can go home they really get upset 🤣

12 month bank statement
hereforgood replied to CallumWK's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Can't speak about the bank statement and not needing it but I have extended my retirement Visa 15 or 16 times now and never one time ever have I been asked for a TM 30 for any reason at the Jomtien office. I own my own condo I have been asked for a copy of my deed but never once the TM 30 -
The rules change here so often and then when they do change some people enforce them some don't some offices follow them some don't. If everybody read out of the same book it would be wonderful but such is not the case. Years ago when it was required to give your information to the banks here the US customers anyway I had to go deal with an account in K Bank. Figuring I was doing the right thing I told them I had not filled out the proper forms for a US account holder because I had the account before those forms were required. The lady I was dealing with called over someone who introduced himself as a manager I explain the situation to him that I just wanted to give them the information that I was told they need he just told me don't worry about it your account is old no problem. Bangkok Bank on the other hand insisted on all the forms being filled out which was fine if you've got to do it you've got to do it including my social security number.

It's no big deal for me either because I don't wait till the last minute to transfer money. As long as it gets there and I don't have to go through the hassle of going to the bank having it traced trying to figure out where it went then I'm okay. I think wise should probably stop putting a a Time on when the money should be delivered to you but rather just say within 48 hours you're transfer should be complete. I think that would make the people that worry the most worry less.

Thai SSO Yellow Book
hereforgood replied to Max_Headroom's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I was told the same thing by the Sriracha social security office. I then went to the rayong social security department and they processed me in no more than 15 minutes they took my bank book copy so that they could put my social security deposits I made over the years back into it and they could deduct the $4 32 baht monthly automatically to continue my medical no issues whatsoever. Mind you this was a few years ago your mileage may vary but you may want to give it a try at another office -

I'm not sure exactly what it doesn't pay but I do know that in one year they paid 1.5 million for medical surgeries and other issues I had. I was also told via the Bangkok office that if there's a medical procedure that the hospital you're registered at cannot do then you will be referred to a private hospital and Social Security will cover that as well.

This may not be of help to many or maybe to anyone but if it helps even 1 person it was worth it. I went to work in 2006 and did so with a business visa and a WP all above board. Decided in 2013 to retire so I went down to the SS office in Sri Ratcha and applied for my SS refund which amounted to about 40K baht. I also registered for the Medical coverage to continue by Auto billing from my Kbank account. This was done with no issues they were very helpful. I was then offered a job which i could not turn down Started 2014 worked till 2018. Then retired again this time for good. Off I went to the same SS office to do the same as i had when i retired from my first job here in Thailand. They pulled up my records and I was told the rules had changed and foreigners were no longer given this after retirement. We went home and contacted the head office in Bangkok to question this so called new rule and they said that it was not the case. They told me to try another office so I traveled up to Rayong SS office and they were super helpful took my Bank book had me sign a paper so they could transfer the SS refund and they could auto bill my 432 baht a month for the on going medical coverage. So should any others get turned down at one office just try at another one. I went back to the Sri Ratcha office after confirming i was eligible with the Bangkok office and they still insisted I was not. I think they just were not interested in doing the paper work.

Struggling to get Broadband in my condo and the lost engineer
hereforgood replied to JoeyMac's topic in Bangkok
I am really surprised to hear this especially with true. I live in Pattaya I have had true for 5 years since I've had it there have been a couple of times when it's went down for more than a day but I've been contacted given an appointment given the number of the technician that will service it and they've always came when they said they would. When I call I just press the button for English and within a minute I'm talking to somebody helping me. Maybe it's different in Bangkok but here true has been very good -

I have a good friend that sent an email to customer service of K Bank asking them about getting this done. Their reply and he showed me their reply to his email was this pertains only to Thai Nationals not foreigners. With that said I know foreigners who've went up to Bangkok Bank and had to get there it's done I have both k bank and Bangkok Bank and I haven't done either. And I have made transfers in excess of the amount which they said would need the verification for and the transfers went through without an issue.
