Is there anyone who actually wants the sex industry to go? And those who pay their wife or girlfriend a monthly salary / build a house for don't count.
Nobody in their right mind

First of all, the operators all act as if they have the right to be there and it's their beach! It is the King's beach. There are other alternatives and frankly I don't give a rip about their losing baht.
In most places in America, for example, operators are allowed to provide chairs and umbrellas AT THE REQUEST OF AN INDIVIDUAL. This makes more sense than outright banning of umbrella and chair operators in a given area. I myself would have liked to have an individual spot where I could have an umbrella and a chair so that I could both sunbathe and, when I so choose, to be sheltered from the sun under the umbrella. I hope in the future that the beaches are returned to the people and the King.
As for food, no table and chairs are necessary. The few people who will miss a meal will soon find other ways to satisfy their needs. Drinks could be still sold on the beach if there was a good way to guarantee clean up. Food and scraps are tossed into the sea and no one is there to clean up. Nor are there sufficient waste cans for those few who do clean up after themselves. The government would do well to advertise for cleanliness in all aspects of life. Some of the non used or undeveloped lots and many canals are full of debris also.
You are not forced to sit in the chairs nor forced to eat the food. It's a service and a brilliant service at that. Please do not compare here or anywhere else with the USA with its myriad of problems including gun violence, gangs, extreme poverty, racism. I thought by now most Americans had realised the chimera of the American way of life. I came to live in Pattaya because of the wide range of services at the beach. Its where I spend my money. This is just another attack on poor, hard working people by unelected bullies

Sounds like progress. Thai people hate progress.
How can sitting in the sun with no food or shade be progress?! It's madness.

Indeed Here is an academic work on subject :https://books.google.co.th/books/about/Night_Market.html?id=cvmgT4Odr5YC&redir_esc=y
It also gives the girls a great sense of liberation from the dreary drudgery of village life and agricultural servitude. The girls choose the guys they go with and spend their time with their friends having fun, drinking and dancing......There is no Peedo or locked brothes scene in Pattaya - less than in some part of the UK and USA. Its a shame the labour led councils in the north of england did nothing to protect the 1400 children from grooming gangs....Perhaps the next time a british newspaper criticizes Thailand the Thai authorities should be more challenging about sex abuse, rape and harassment in the UK. In the case of Rotheram the police and social services had known for years about the mass child rape.................and that's just one city. It's sick and ugly compared to the fun and innocence of Pattaya.

Seeing a bunch of uniformed thugs walking around gives Thailand a terrible image. They are bringing the place into disrepute more than girls dancing in bikinis. Nobody voted for these people. Anyway Costa Rica and DR are the sex capitals of the world. So called Sex tourism create a massive halo effect of jobs and employment.

I have one more question- I am leaving Thailand for three moths for summer in Europe. When I get back to Thailand I am not returning to my current address. I will be staying in a hotel and looking for a new condo or house. How and what do inform immigration on my return in September?

I an afraid that in every country of the world the police and their war on drugs is disreputable - its is fundamentally corrupting and time wasting and empowers all manner of corruption- political extremism- the arms trade - religious extremism and fundamentalism, mafia etc. It put the police at war with their own people. The human race has been seeking oblivion and transcendence since time immemorial. Prohibition does not work. A new book came out last year by a British undercover cop in which he admits what a corrupting, shameful waste of time his ten years undercover had been. This is not a Thai problem. Its international. Regarding revenge-a few years ago I was in prison in Libya for having a bar. When I was there I met a young man who was inside for beating up the doctor who had administered the blood test that found him positive for hashish. The war on drugs is a war on the people on so many different levels.

Did anybody notice that on the list I sent there is no mention of Sisiket? Is that because it is named differently - Last year it was Ras al Salai I think and I stayed at the pensiree resort...near a scrapyard......Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks The manic.
But where is the reference to Sisaket?

Thanks for uploading the video, maybe not everyone's cup of tea but I for one like these traditional festivals.
I've not been to any rocket festivals but last year spent 10 days in Ubon Ratchathani with friends and thoroughly enjoyed the Candle Festival, a great spectacle .
Carry on making the videos and keep up the good workThanks - I hope to go a candle festival too.

Mushroom picking classified as "illegal logging". Gotta love rule-by-law.
Someone in the judicial system: prosecutor or judge should have nipped this in the bud, but these commoners need to be made an example of I guess.
Five years (from fifteen) still seems overly harsh? Were they wearing some illegal red-shirts, or in possession of the wrong type of red bowl?
Or wrong colour skin?

Was he a real swede or ....well you know.. I talked to a Swedish guy for ages outside the golden bar nana soi 4 for ages a few years ago and when I asked him the meaning of a Swedish word used in a TV series he told me he had no idea what it meant. When I looked confused he told me he emigrated there in 79 from Iran and never bothered to learn Swedish but he hoovered up all their benefits.
