Am I being naive but I have always thought that paying an agent to provide the required 800,000 was illegal because it involves some collusion with an immigration officer.

For years it seems to me it was referred to on a wink wink nudge nudge basis but now it is openly talked about as a legal option.

Can anyone give a recommendation for Roojai car insurance. They offer significantly higher personal accident cover than other companies but on the other hand they impose a 3,000 baht excess payment. (which I don't object to). 

I'm more concerned about their speed of response to a call for help.

I subscribe to HD prime tv for about 400 baht per month. This gets me all uk, US French etc tv channels also all live sport, Sky, BT sport, euro sport etc.  Programmes also available on catch-up if timing is not right. 

I'm very happy. 

My wife and I have a joint deposit account of 1 million 600 thousand to cover my 800,000 annual retirement extension.

As this account is in 2 names would that mean government

deposit protection of 2,000,000.  Or is this just wishful thinking.

2 weeks ago there were reports of red sea urchins on patong beach. Are they still there, can anyone tell me. We are wanting to book a holiday there soon but my wife will not go if there are sea urchins about.  Thanks

Wongduen resort on ko samet excellent, been going there for 30 years first with children then with grandchildren. Lovely sand and clear water. However if you want truly sparkling clear water and snorkeling around the rocks walk over the headland to the next beach, going south, resorts there not so good to stay but OK for lunch. Then back to the cosseted luxury of Wong duen resort and a cleansing swim in their private pool. This sounds like an advert but it definitely is not. We just love ko samet. 

When working in Namibia, in Bushmanland, a few years back we would get an 8 x 4 piece of plywood, paint it black and lay it flat in the garden close to the outside shower.  On the plywood we would coil black plastic pipe, about 40 metres perhaps of 1/2 inch dia.  Connect incoming cold water to one end and after a day in the sun out came hot water from the other end.  Connected to a mixer tap at the shower head we had enough hot water for showers for my wife and I.  Water pressure came from a water tank 30 ft above ground filled from an artesian well through a solar powered pump.  Brings back good memories.

Does anybody have up to date knowledge of the punctuality of trains on the CM to BK route stopping at Don Muang. 

Train no. 52 departs CM at 15.30 and should arrive at DM at 04.30

Giving me plenty of time to catch a flight at 06.45

But.........? No chance years ago but I'm led to believe punctuality has improved. 

Your advice would be appreciated

What is the latest queue situation at Promenada?  I have to renew my retirement visa next week and was wondering what time I should arrive in the morning to be clear in one day.   Thanks.     Geoff.T

Re ChiangMai immigration website chiangmaiimm. I am trying to access queue on line for my visa renewal in October but the site no longer appears to be available.

Has the service been stopped or has it been moved. Any advice would be appreciated. Geoff T
