Found in satthai.net, seems Multichoice has good English channels. Anyone has it already? Would it be possible to use small dish only?

Take your pick, Firefox or Opera. Just avoid IE. It's Spyware/Trojan/Virus city.
I support freewares and opensource, I'm not against Firefox or Opera. But if one knew how to install updated antivirus and to handle (not clicking) those irritating spyware ActiveX/script, one could have no problem using IE without being paranoid.
I was a long time user of Netscape (up to v4.72). Just for the sake of standard (most sites are designed for IE-compliant) I use IE with no problem. I install only updated antivirus and never antispyware or other wares because I know how to handle with those malicious things.
Still afraid? Just disable the ActiveX/script handling in IE settings, then IE can be as secure and more or less the same as Firefox/Opera.

Few days ago I remember that my DTAC dprompt prepaid credit was still 300 something Baht. Then I sent 3-4 SMS to abroad (which I think costs not more than 9-10 Baht per SMS). After then, I never made a call, accessing GPRS, or anything.
Later the next day, suddenly I couldn't make a call or send SMS at all, and when I checked *101# my balance became -10 Baht. Yes, it's negative.
I activated GPRS at DTAC shop when I purchased the card last month. Is there a monthly fee? If not, where did my credit go? Why it can be negative?

My first concern is to be able to watch live Italian Serie A football and US TV comedy series (NBC, Paramount, etc). AFAIK no FTA provide these channels.
My second concern is that I live in apartment with narrow balcony so I can only install small dish.
I got the info from a post on this forum sometime last year, this is the website of the company where I bought my Astro package
I've read that post. In conclusion, I would need a 9 to 10 feet dish (for Bangkok) 90 degrees facing South which I don't think I can install it at my small balcony (facing West), nor they would not give permission to install on the roof (there's UBC basic installed already from the building which broadcast only BBC, StarMovies, StarSports, and HBO).
So I guess there's no other choice other than UBC, isn't there?

I decided against UBC,
I got the Astro package instead and I am quite happy with it.
Never heard of Astro, is that FTA?

Sometimes I miss to be in Indonesia with all free live football matches (WC, Euro, CL, Italian, English, Spanish, German, you name it) without sattelite dish (using only regular TV antenna)!
I could have hook to Palapa C2 satellite for these FTA Indonesian TV channels if I had my own big backyard or roof to install the dish and the channels were not scrambled

I was a long time Siemens SL45 user before 7 months ago I decided to upgrade. I was in between Nokia 3230 and SE K750i which has similar features (megapixel camera, gprs, bluetooth, video, mp3, expandable memory card, radio). They were the cheapest phones with such great features often found in high-end or PDA phones.
The SE one was just launched and on the brochure it was nice elegant futuristic black. But then when I saw physically, I didn't like screen and keypad, they are too small, and not as elegant as I saw on brochure. Anyway it was more expensive 1.5x than Nokia one. So I decided to get the Nokia (larger screen, cheaper, sleek Maroon colored design, Symbian OS for software expandability, support EDGE for faster data transfer).
Well, now I'm stuck with Nokia. Like it very much. Though I have some dissapointments on slow navigation, lag in taking photo, and occassionally hang/restart problems. Anyway, I heard these problems are a general problem of all Symbian-based phones including the new Communicator 9500. I haven't got time to check that upgrading the OS or firmware will solve the problems.
Well got to live with it until next upgrade. Off course, need to be very cost-effective.

Within next few days I'd like to subscribe to UBC (probably Gold package, for Italian football and TV comedy series).
Assumed my apartment building (Lumpini Park View, Sathorn, Bangkok) has the infrastructure to put cable TV. Which one is cheaper (in investment or monthly rent), better in picture quality, and problem-free (due to bad weather, dropping signal, etc)? Satellite or cable?
Would it be better to buy/invest the equipment or just rent? If I choose to buy, should I buy myself or from UBC? Where and which brand/model is a good one? I'm wondering if it's possible to put hard-disk-based decoder to record (like TiVo?) if not expensive and available in Bangkok.
Thank you.

I've been using Limewire Pro and Kazaa Lite K++ for long time, but only in Bangkok (True HiSpeed 1M/512K) max I can get only 4KBps
(
Tried DC++ to expathub, but sometimes the files I'm looking for are not there.
Are they blocking all P2P?

FYI, as mentioned in other thread, currently I'm struggling to make my old Alcatel SpeedTouch USB DSL modem I bought in France in 2001 to work with True ADSL. Although I have researched and changed the parameters in the Windows registry (PPPoE, VPI=0, VCI=100), but still not connecting.
Just to make sure that you can change those parameters. For modem with router and web-based configuration is easier, not for USB one like mine. Well depends on the brand/model though.

Why delay if your line is activated?
Thanks again for the input.
Well, first I wanted to tried to make that old modem to work with True, but I guess I'm starting to get stuck after some experiments.
Second, so many brands/models in the market, I just want to make sure that I will buy the good one with no/least problems.
BTW, just got an info for reseller of Billion products:

Yesterday I went to Pantip and did research on web.
I saw SMC7904WBRA at one small store (don't remember which floor) for 3500 Baht and at IT City (5th floor) for 4450 Baht. What a difference!
The DLink and Linksys, I saw but didn't check the price.
True has list of Billion modem on their site, but didn't see it in Pantip.
Input from my friend (and also some users on the net) who tried DLink and Linksys, they both were unstable (often hang/disconnected) and he chose Aztech DSL600EW. But haven't seen this in BKK.
So still figuring out, but need to purchase soon as my ADSL line now is active. And I couldn't make my old SpeedTouch USB ADSL modem (purchased in FR) worked, although I have followed the suggested hacks on the settings (For True: Encapsulation=PPPoE, VPI=0, VCI=100) I found on the web.

Thanks for all the info. Will check with the photo stores suggested.
To armortec: Could you give more info about Horizon AV? Where? Website? etc.
Alternatively, supposed I buy from US or nearest distributor (probably Singapore or Indonesia), will it be charged for customs? I'm asking this because I was 'robed' almost 5000 Baht for 3 boxes of personal belongings (clothes, kitchenware) by Thai customs sent by DHL when moving here few weeks ago!

Where can I get this one in BKK?
-
I'm applying for True ADSL for 1Mbps and will be active in few days. I have my old ADSL modem (SpeedTouch USB) but wondering to buy a wireless modem+router (all-in-one, not only wireless router). So far I found these models (not yet checked which one available in BKK): Billion BiPAC (7202G, 5102G), Linksys (WAG54G/GS), Aztech (DSL600W/EW), Netgear (DG834G), DLink (DSL-G604T).
Questions:
1. Which one do you recommend the best (+ approximate price & store in BKK)?
2. For some modems which supports ADSL2+, will it work for ADSL?
3. For wireless modem+router (all-in-one), can I use only the WAP (modem not used) for local networking (to connect wi-fi enabled laptop & printer)?
4. If no 3 above is not possible, which brand/model do you recommend to use for wireless router (WAP) to combine with my old ADSL modem above?

Do you mean old Settlers 4 or the new Settlers 5 "Heritage of Kings"?
The first one I played and loved it!! Great graphics. Details and realistic. Even more than Civilization of Age of Empire. *I enjoy the graphics and management than the battle

I'm looking forward to the new one. Never had a time to get one, been busy lately. Probably on weekend I'll get it from Pantip or probably download from P2P.
