  1. I have had a sebacious cyst on my forehead for about 5 years now, which has slowly been growing in size. I just received this reply from Chao Phraya hospital in Bangkok...

I'm not keen on a general anesthetic and the price does seem very high. In the UK this procedure can be performed by specialist clinics, under local anesthetic, for 25 000 THB or less.

  2. If you take Weinstein out of the equation this is a victory for due process.

Allegations of crimes for which the defendant is not on trial for, and has not even been charged with, should never be allowed into evidence. Neither should the defendant be questioned about these allegations under cross-examination; this is tantamount to nothing more than a witch hunt.

It seems to be the same with Trump in that people think someone is guilty not because of what they did but who they are.

  3. The insurance is still needed, for those who are returning to Mainland China and India, according to the latest info (Jan 10) released by the Thai gov.

    Image

The original claim that it was cancelled came from a 'Thai PBS World' article that quoted a 'spokesman'. This was then published verbatim by the investigative journalists at 'Phuket Go' ????

'Thai PBS World' corrected themselves yesterday:

  4. I'm due to fly on on Saturday, from China, and I'm on the verge of having a nervous breakdown. ????

AFAIK there's been no official confirmation of this, only the 'Phuket Go' article which references a 'Thai PBS World' article which has a dead link to 'Ministry of Public Health'. There's nothing on TAT, CAAT or MOPH websites. Also nothing on Richard Barrow's twitter which is surprising as he usually has his ear to the ground.

No news on the insurance requirement, which was completely confusing information.  I'll put it down to translation problems.

According to the TAT website, the insurance requirement still remains.

This is going to catch a lot of people out, mainly those coming from China. I'm one of them and still confused as to whether I need it for my 'self transfer' in Singapore. Air Asia still hasn't updated it's website to reflect the most recent changes.

  6. Here's a conundrum. ????

I'm fully vaccinated, travelling from China via Singapore. The connection in Singapore is a 'self transfer' which means the two flights aren't connected. I'll have to exit immigration in Singapore, pick up my tickets for the Thailand leg, then pass through immigration again; then rinse and repeat for the return journey.

I'll obviously need a PCR test to re-enter China but surely this is irrelevant as, as far as Thailand is concerned, I'm only flying from / to Singapore. This surely means that I don't need the COVID insurance as Singapore doesn't require the test?

    My head hurts ????

  7. Here in China apps are all the rage and very convenient.

WeChat is always open because...chat. Just open phone with finger and scan or they scan you (can set different levels of security). Only drawback is can only link to one bank account now.

With Alipay you can pay any bills and transfer money between bank accounts. Also it links up with Taobao where you can only pay if enough cash in your wallet.

Both can be used on the Metro and buses (in some cities) and then there's Didi taxi without which most foreigners would be stranded somewhere ????

When I come back to to LOS I think I'll have great difficulty switching back to paper money ????

  8. I obtained my Thai Teachers' Licence back in 2014, which has sadly expired.

I only had a Bachelor's degree at that time so had to take the 4 TCT tests which I passed first time due to the help of the, now defunct, Thailand Teaching Forum (thanks Stamp).

I also had to do the (joke of a) Thai Culture Course which set me back a few thousand baht and taught me nothing I didn't know already.

I heard that the corrupt TCT officials had been purged after the coup so it amazes me (not really) that another 'cash cow' teachers' test has been introduced.

I'm currently teaching in China so that I can semi-retire in Thailand until pension age. Silliness like this just makes me want to stay here until I can fully retire.

Just watched the latest episode of silent witness, well they have gone full on woke, black man married to white woman ,she is disabled with only one arm ,the new girl in the lab is a lesbian  and  the young girl in it is deaf and dumb ,was most dissapointed they did not have a tranny in it ,but i am sure they will soon.

What has happened to tv and movies these days its seems they are all about box ticking.

That series has been been 'right-on' for the last 20 years. At least they're consistent. Remember the assistant in a wheelchair with severe bone disease?

    What is BIBP?

On my vaccine "receipt" for the second dosage April 23rd, it refers to it as "VERO."

I know that Sinovac has two different vaccines as well, so not sure if Thailand is approving one or both.

On my receipt it says Beijing Bio which is the 'Beijing Bio-Institute of Biological Products', or BIBP. This is one of the Sinopharm vaccines with the other, which seems to have fallen by the wayside, being produced by the 'Wuhan Institute of Biological Products'.

The estimated WHO approval date for BIBP is April 2021 ????

They weren't thinking very clearly if they want to encourage tourism from China and Russia, that's for sure.

They have included only two of the five (authorized inside of China vaccines.)

Which means that at least 50% of the population here receiving Sinopharm VERO, CanSinoBio or the new one authorized by the Chinese CDC would be out of luck.

When you go to the clinic or hospital in China, there are currently long lines that are being announced within just 24-48 hours and you have no control over which vaccine/s you receive.

It would be ridiculous to go out and get another vaccination JUST for Thailand when the Sinopharm one is around 79% effectiveness (50% is the bottom of acceptable range), which is arguably better than the results from the two Coronavac vaccines that Thailand supposedly is approving.

One would think that SOMEONE in Thailand is actually looking at the situation in China more closely or carefully than an English/Economics teacher in an international high school in Wuhan.

Especially if the stated goals are an increase (at least beginning in October, when China celebrates its National Week holidays) Chinese and Russian tourism.

I'm in China and received the first dose of the Sinopharm BIBP vaccine last week. It's not on the approved list either but somehow the Sinovac vaccine is, even though both are not yet approved by the WHO.

I have been reliably informed that Dorothy is being played by a lady of colour in a wheelchair who was born a man but has now transitioned...

She already has been, in the Black (blaxploitation?) Wizard of Oz. I'm guessing she'll remain so & won't be 'gender-flipped'. Neither will the Wizard of Oz change from a misogynist, white-privileged member of the patriarchy. The Tin Man will still be a clueless white man, the brown Lion will be a courageous hero and the Wicked Witch will be Winston Churchill. ????

God I hope this woke wave subsides soon. It's ruining what's left of a tattered movie (film) industry.

  13. Face masks are like condoms...they only work if you use them properly. Would you use the same condom 20 times, without washing it? Would you pull the condom down to cover your balls as you ejaculate (chin mask)?

It's even worse with masks as when you exhale you push the mask away from your face. Due to the airflow currents your breath blows back onto the front of the mask, along with the virus. Then you constantly touch the front of the mask to adjust it, put on and off, convert to chin mask etc...so your hands are constantly contaminated.

If used properly, in enclosed spaces like taxis, supermarkets etc, then they are a good precautionary measure IMO...if used properly.

Xiaomi very good quality performance and great value for money been using them for several years now

I bought the Mi Max 3 this time last year. 7'' screen, 5500 mAh battery, very fast, great camera. I like it so much that I bought one again last month, after the other fell in the soup. Price has dropped to B6500.

Recently bought a Xiaomi 9T to replace an old HTC OneM8.  I am delighted!

I bought my son this one last summer, after he saw mine. Slightly smaller screen at 6'' but higher resolution and faster chip (he likes games). Camera(s) are a lot better too but overkill IMO. Price last summer 9000B.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I have trip to Japan March 18. Flying AirAsia.

Just see now email that flight canceled.

Not the usual "change of flight" notice. Another flight was not offered. Just details of options for credit, refund etc.

I doubt they have stopped flights. Interesting.

I just checked outbound flights. The only one offered after march 18 is march 30.

Then nothing till late in April. Also insurance has been removed as an option.

Appears indeed you could become stranded.

My Air Asia flight to Shanghai on 9 Feb was cancelled also. They consolidated flights due to low demand so I was just lucky / unlucky. Now I need to fly back on 15 Mar but sadly no flights available for the whole of March...I lost my ticket ????

In fact there are no flights at all from Don Mueang for my dates, only from BKK with Chinese Airlines of questionable quality.

  16. Is that what those things are...I bought 3 slightly out of date packs of sage & onion stuffing because they were on offer. I thought how can dust go off ????

Didn't use them for a while and actually gave one to a mate. Next day he sent me a video of these things crawling around in the sealed packet.

I thought you would have to have ill people to test if the plant works

or has any effect at all, does this mean they are testing healthy people

to see if it makes them ill .

    regards worgeordie

They're called phase 1 clinical trials. First test for side effects in healthy people - usually students.????
