  1. 1.  Elect an accomplished foreigner as Airlines CEO

    2.  He/She should be allowed to bring his/her own staff along with him/her (PC enough??)

    3.  All current board members need to be retired, or if not tenured, fired.

    4.  All current support contracts need to be scrutinized - expecially for the Som Chai Cousins that are providing Thai Airways meals.

    5.  New CEO and Staff be afforded 24/7 personal security from a Foreign Company, with no Thai employees.   As surely when these above steps are taken, their lives will be in danger.

    Peace

  2. This post is only 7 hrs old, and already 4 pages of whiners, social justice keyboard commando's, chairborne scientists "who know better than real scientists"   Jeez Louise people, get a life.  Okay don't use the trains, don't go to the movies, boxing matches, ice skating rinks, foot masage rooms, stay on your barstools all day, or locked up in your living rooms.  Look out your window, and you'll see me walking around masked up...............because "This is Thailand" and to coin Bernard Trink  "I don't give a hoot"              Peace

After checking you will be sent to the 3rd floor for the tests of which there are 4 (Traffic light colour, depth perception, braking response and peripheral vision). You will be given a queue number again and they will retain all your documents (except your passport which is not needed here), there is a large waiting area with a video playing in Thai and then English which explains the tests.

I always pass these tests in other countries, but I have a color impairment, (the circle dots test w/numbers in them foxes me)  I can pass the other tests no problems - stop light, green, yellow, red etc etc etc, but not the old flasj cards with dot & numbers in them.   Whjat kind of color tests do they make you do??  Flash cards or Computer w/perception??    THank You in advance

  4. Quite frankly, I'd trust the Brazilian Pork over the Chinese Diseased carcases any day of the week..........methinks this was done because a brown envelope fell thru the crack, so they retaliated by saying it was smuggled..........article says there is no agreement between Brazil and Thailand to import pork................I saw a lot of Brazillian Beef in Top's and Central in my days................suspect, bvery suspect.  They could have turned it into dog food, once cooked well, no flu.   This was pure retaliatioin, nothing less.

Forgot to add that I am living in Pattaya and have heard issues with trying to extend with a visa on arrival, but not sure how valid they are.

As long as you have all your ducks in a row, no issues whatsoever, over 10 years dealing with Immigration Jom Tien and never hjad a problem.   Just ensure you have all the required paperwork, you can visit and they will give you a list of what you need, you can fill it out next door (there ar a lot of younger guys/gals for a few baht happy to do it for you while You drink coffee............Dpon't know what they are charghing these days, but for me, it was always worth it.   Visa day was always a fun day for me.

  8. Must be the 'Yank" in me - but I only counted 3 people that recognized Roosters' 'Tongue in Cheek' rhetoric.  He is (what do the Brits say??)  'Having you on', as he knew this would elicit a lot of continued rhetorical comments..............as for Up-Country??  Great place to visit, and jumpo off from but I wouldn't want to live there more than half a year or so             Peace

Thailand could have given her a place to stay in the country while her request for asylum is heard.  Instead they side with the neighboring Junta who canceled her passport while traveling because she was a vocal critic.  Maybe she can get into another country who will make her feel wanted like the Myanmar Ladyboy millionaire who the Myanmar Government wanted arrested as well....

I suspect Thailands refusal of entry was more for her safety than anything political.  Myanmar's junta would send assasins into Thailand to take care of her, Oh, forgot, they are already there...............Peace

Swap the cat for a Mongoose?????

Sorry but nothing much will deter a snake apart from a lot of human activity, which will frighten them off.  They don't like disturbances.

I keep pet non-venomous snakes and they don't care about lemon grass or other stuff.

We had a few cobra in the garden over the years.  If you leave them alone they move on quickly.

I did have one rear up at the door like yours did.  It actually got driven away by sparrows and other birds mobbing it and dive boning it's head.

The best advice to minimise snakes being around your property is to keep grass short, have no places for them to hide or rest (no piles of junk or garden waste etc, so keep everything minimal and tidy with no low busy plants.

King cobra feed on other snakes...others cobra species...so a good clean up, making sure there are no rats about to attract the other snakes, will mean there is no food to attract the king cobra.   So do not have car food, or other stuff rats will eat, left out.

On a side note, if you do have king cobra babies they will quickly disperse away from your place, as they do not tolerate living in the same territory.  Also having a king cobra about will mean you won't have any 'normal' cobra or dangerous snakes about...they will be eaten!

Funny Story, when I lived in Huachuca Mountain region of Arizona, In the Army) we carried brightly colored ropes to surround the campsite, local Indian folks. said rattlesnakes wouldn't cross the rope thinking it was  King snake, which eats rattlesnakes...............don't know if it ever worked but spent many a night there and never saw a snake anywhere near my sleeping bag.   None of the "smell" techniques work, snakes smell the air with their tongues looking for distinct signatures of prey.   Keep the grass short, rat population down and they should leave you alone.

I called EMirates. They assured me they will not ask me for my ticket if I come wtih exempt. So I can have a 6 months ticket. But I am afraid of the immigration Senior grumpy older woman that stops me almost every time and I have to show return ticket to her. So she can deny my entry if I have 6 month ticket.

I think I will buy 1 month extendable ticket and then extend it before 1 month runs out.

I really do not want to get stuck at the BKK border...They questioned me the last time why I did return after 3 months and took me to some table and asked me questions etc....Luckily I was allowed to enter. this way just 1 month before covid hit thailand.

Thats why I fly Business, no grumpy Immigration folks in Fast Track Lane.........Peace

Read the article.  2 men in hammocks so this super snake decided kill them both in their  sleep,Just for fun,  totally unthreatend and off the ground?

    Idiotic!!!

I never said they were bitten, I just reiterated that they 'could be bitten without knowing it'. and No, I don't think a snake bit both of them, maybe a couple two-legged snakes, or drug overdoses..........Peace

Seriously?  Nobody sleeps through a snake bite especially 2 people.!!

Not true, many Snake Ranglers in Thailand and Australia have been bitten and not known it until they started feeling the effects of the venom, especally if its a coral snake, or a Krait that have very small fangs, not treatyed in 4-5 hours you can go into shock and yes, die in your sleep.
