1. I entered LOS w/a Non-O-Thai Wife visa on May 28th of this year. We were married in the US.

I got a 60 day extension of stay, then got my 1 year extension of stay and my multiple re-entry permit thanks in no small part to the helpful advice from folks here on TV.

Now my mom is ill so I need to head back to the US for a month and I recall reading either on TV or perhaps another site about someone who had issues with the stamp he/she received on arrival and that it was the wrong date of expiration. I did a search tonight and didn't find the post.

So aside from checking to make absolutely sure that the new visa stamp (that I am assuming I'll get upon my return to Suvarnabuhmi) expiry matches my extension of stay expiry before walking away from the immigration officer, is there anything else to watch out for in this process of returning home to Thailand? As we all know it would be a bloody shame to have all the work, money, and too many trips to Chaeng Wattana screwed up by some oversight upon my return!

    Thanks in advance!

  2. In fairness. this is a sign of progress. Two years ago, the Russian would have been beaten to a pulp, and would have depended upon the charity of passersby in order to get to the hospital.

Those bouncers are a mean crew, and there are roaming Thais who love to beat up anyone who has been ejected from the bars and gogos.

Not that I needed any further reason to stay the <Snip!> outta Pattaya! That sealed the deal my friend!

  3. Sorry forgot to mention that detail as well. Wow that's where we're going! Will take a look for that.

We have to go there today anyway for my 1 year extension of stay but in the future that will be helpful! wai2.gif

The OP doesn't mention which immigration office he's visiting, but if it's Chaeng Wattana and details are entered on-line and an appointment booked, then no extra paperwork is required at all - not even a photo since they photograph you there on the spot.

  4. I'm picking up from immigration tomorrow, hopefully, my year long extension of stay as I have a Thai wife. Thanks again to all who helped me through that!

At that time, as per the advice from lopburi3, I'll be submitting the TM8 for the multiple re-entries. I've looked around and it seems that I only need a copy of the photo page of my passport to be submitted with the TM8 and 3800 THB. I thought I should ask the experts here and confirm that this is correct?

Also, there is space for dates of departure, etc and presently I don't have a definite date, but it will be in the next month or so. Should I just leave it blank and let them guide me?

    Thanks!

  5. Thai dog owners are the worst!!! 6 months of a neighbors yappy dog 14 hours a day and I live 3 houses away. It is remarkable that people tolerate such abhorrent behavior for so long without snapping like this guy did. I have been tempted to just sit out in front of their house with an airhorn but I am a Farang so I would be the one in trouble!

You've never lived in the Humboldt Park neighborhood in Chicago! ;)

  6. Same as a lot of places. Try Chicago sometime. Southside. Guns, knives, baseball bats, a 2x4. You name it.

What is wrong with the people of this country?? Having a verbal dispute with someone, getting on the motorbike with a knife and killing an innocent person walking the street. I know this could happen anywhere, but the frequency of crazy rages like this in Thailand, scares the <deleted> out of me!

  7. In my usual panicked state I'm going over my papers and double checking requirements, and on TV, on this page, http://www.thaivisa.com/non-imm-o-marriage.html, it says I need a certified copy of my Passport. "Copy of passport ( with certified true copy )". Eh? This is the first time I've heard of this!

Also my wife is reading that page or links from it, that once all the paperwork has been submitted, I have to return with my passport by myself to get the extension of stay. Is this correct?

Can anyone enlighten me as to what will happen the day we go to get the extension of stay and any info re:the certified copy of my passport which until this evening I've never heard of.

    Thanks.

  8. So once I've gotten the year extension of stay in the next few days, then I can get submit the TM-8, correct?

Is that done on a return trip to the Chiang Watanna Immigration Office or can it be done once I'm handed my year long extension of stay?

Also, if it can't be done the day I receive my year long extension, do I have to go back to the Chiang Watanna Immigration Office or can re-entry permits be obtained elsewhere in BKK?

    Thanks!

Do not obtain the re-entry permit until you obtain your extension of stay - which will not be on first visit for marriage. You will be told to return in 30-45 days and only after getting that final stamp should you fill out the TM-8 for re-entry permit (unless you need to travel before then) as it only covers your current permitted to stay time.

Form opens fine in Word 2007 and you can fill out - just obtain a form on your visit and fill out for next visit if you can not open.
