  1. Note to Thai Visa Peanut Gallery:

You all sound like a bunch of whining dried out old women ... who simply can not stomach seeing a million people out having good clean fun.

It seems to be that membership to your club requires a two digit IQ, since you cry about a pail full of water like it was electricity .. a commodity you can waste over a very broad geography.

You see ... my dear Einsteins .. water .. is a very local commodity. A squirt gun full of water in BKK, does nothing to the Isaan situation ... etc ... etc .. etc....

I would guess one would be hard pressed to even measure the quantity of water depleted from a reservoir. And the Thai people LOVE to play with THEIR water! Oh, and yes .. the tourists do really turn up and spend some serious cash in certain areas ... a "win - win"

God, how I pity those who live in the Kingdom and can not embrace the culture .. and ENJOY it!

You see, I personally do NOT like Songkran because it interferes with my daily life.

I do not like water thrown on me, so for those days, simply stay around the condo, work out and swim ... etc.

I fly my wife back for a holiday with her family, and some water fight fun with old friends.

But what I do NOT do is WHINE about it!

Grumpy old men with nothing more to do than B***** and moan about every GD think that happens in a country they are GUESTS in!

    AMAZING FARANG

Thais turn on Mekong River pumps without consulting regional partners

Thailand hopes to help its drought-affected farmers by “using” water from the Mekong, but those downstream may be adversely affected

Thailand has begun pumping water from the Mekong River into drought-affected areas in the northeast of the country in a move that could have severe impacts for countries downstream.

At present, three pumps, each of them capable of pumping 12,000 litres per second from the river, are in operation. Thailand is experiencing its worst dry spell in ten years, and provinces in the north and northeast have been hit hard. Production of rice and rubber – both key export crops – has plummeted, adding to the country’s existing economic woes.

  2. An order for 150,000 pistols sig sauer p320 @ 18,000 baht a gun = 270000000 baht ,

a policy of no hand in service pistol you have now , then no new one given,

scrutiny by independent ,verifiable and accountable issuer.

when you consider technology with stun guns and tasers and strobe lights as an effective tool one wonders why we need more guns in todays society period.

Those deterrents aren't used against guns. They are used against unruly and otherwise dangerous people to subdue them physically.

If a guy is threatening you with a gun...

"Never bring a stun gun to a gunfight."

    Cheers.

thats the point remove all the guns , none needed anymore,

Remove all the guns, knives, swords, brass knuckles, and any other weapons.

Remove all the people who have violent, anti-social, psychopathic and psychotic tendencies.

Remove criminals and those with criminal tendencies.

Remove all who demonstrate any behavior or thoughts not considered PC or in line with state thinking and culture.

    That should do it.

Oh yes, and have a well armed, well trained security services to protect those who make all he decisions.

    Baerboxer you must be American...

  3. You do realize that if they get the EU ban, their gonna have to raise prices on fish.... facepalm.gif

Wrong ! I guess you never heard of "Supply And Demand " If their is a Ban, there will be no demand for fish, but the supply is still there.

This means they need to sell locally or to over countries ( not EU ) at cheaper prices. The price of local is always less then export price.

If you are going to post something. Make sure it is a correct statement.

Why make yourself sound stupid. Please.

Hmmmmm..... I don't think you quite understand Thainess

  4. This has prompted me to check the farang teachers at my daughters school. Get the names ... easy to do a quick Google search. Any problems found ... I will personally deal with them!!!

I would ask the school if they have done "police checks" both locally and abroad. Teachers are technically supposed to have this documentation in Thailand. Certainly Aust registered teachers must have these checks in place and updated yearly. Also, they must have by law a police check from every country in which they have resided for twelve months or more. No school, especially those "international" orientated schools should have an excuse for this. Indeed with my name you can access the registry yourself as you should be able to do. [if it is an international school check its affiliations and employment requirements. If you cannot find these spelt out, they don't exist]. The problem here is that this guy has been removed form the registry but no one checked and he has most likely used old documentation.

But having said that, in 2010, i did catch an older British teacher downloading masses of pornography at a school in Thailand. So sordid. He was sitting behind another teacher who had his two sons in prathom classes with him!! I put my foot through his desk and dispatched him. I must say the Thai teachers were only moderately interested, and actually more concerned how to replace him. [it was around xmas]. Some teachers wont pass a character test let alone higher professional standards asked.

nothing is as it seems ... someone without a criminal record just hasn't been caught yet...

  5. Eat dirt farmers.......

These people just suffer and the government only exacerpates their suffering by telling/ordering them to stop growing the only major crop they understand...........it's quite apparent, that water management here is managed by incompetents !

So, if you were in charge of the country, what would you do, mastermind?

Bear in mind that one reason the reservoirs are so low is that the previous "elected" government ordered the the reservoir levels be lowered past the minimum safe level against ALL the advice of ALL the concerned departments. The same "elected" government government the year previously ordered the dams to be kept as full as possible so that rice farmers could grow more rice for the great rice scam.

Now YOU are blaming this government for yet another thing which is beyond their control.

The fact that the country is in an El Nino situation of far less rainfall (which this government also cannot fix) and not only do the farmers need water for their crops but millions of people lower down the river also need water for household purposes, who should get the priority?

    YOU make the decision.

While you are at it also reverse the drought situation and fill the reservoirs to a good safe level. Or would that be too difficult for a keyboard warrior like yourself?

Why are you using quotation marks every time you write the word elected? When discussing the junta do you also use them when writing non-elected?

According to many posters an elected government is all about democracy and working for and by the people.

The last "elected" PTP government had little if any democracy and certainly did very little for MOST of the people of Thailand and to my way of thinking just being "elected" does not give any government the right to act as they wish in ignore the people of Thailand.

Just being "elected" is only the first step on the road to democracy. Sadly most governments since 1932 never took the second and subsequent steps.

  6. M'lord the witness states "Likely most were drunk and high". I suggest we take that as being factual and proven and entered into the courts transcripts as such.

Again m'lord the witness testified "What they did was illegal and they should be punished." Because the witness was there and saw the events unfold, I again suggest we conclude that statement be recorded as truthful and accurate. The witness fully understands Thai law and can determine what is illegal and what is legal.

    This punishment fits the crime...

    The prosecution rests.

    FACT: the roads were blocked

    FACT: cars were torched

FACT: torching cars is illegal (or do you want to contest this?)

All I am saying is that the ones who blocked the road and torched the cars should be prosecuted.

Were those people drunk? I dont care, drunk or not they should be prosecuted.

"Likely most were drunk and high" refers to the rioters. And yes, they should be punished. Or you think its fine to block roads and torch cars?

All I am saying is that the ones who blocked the road and torched the cars should be prosecuted.

punished or prosecuted? please make up your mind...

  7. stop with the Phuket bashing ......... there's mafia everywhere in Thailand , look at Pattaya, Kanchaburi., Bangkok, ..........

This story has gone from a moule hill into a mountain .... because of the local rioters. What they did was illegal and they should be punished. As the police said ' likely most were drunk and high '

    punished??

So it's OK that the RTP are judge, jury and executioner?clap2.gif

nothing to see here move along......

Seems we had a PM a few years back who thought so, to the tune of something like 3000 (reported) executions. Therefore it seems that I might just be ok - for some to consider it as acceptable.
"Likely most were drunk and high" refers to the rioters. And yes, they should be punished. Or you think its fine to block roads and torch cars?

Of course they should be punished after found guilty by a judge. Not sure where you got the idea that someone claims the RTP should be judge, jury, and executioner as that was never said in the posts quoted.

  9. If planes were delayed then the operators ahould ask for monetary compensation. Or you think having a plane standing still at an airport is free?
That would make sense, especially if you're from a claim culture.

That would make sense, especially if you're from a claim culture.

Or that would make sense if your are trying to run a professional and profitable business! facepalm.gif

  10. This incident will have no affect on Australian tourist numbers whatsoever.

Extreme violence and drunken behaviour outside bars and night clubs is common place expecially in Melbourne and Sydney. Many guys end up in ICU on life support in hospital.

Just the other day one of those Americans who stopped a terrorist attack in a Paris station recently was stabbed in a nightclub in California.

750,000 aussies will come to Thailand this year mostly on direct flights to Phuket. Australians view Thailand as a very cheap and sleazy 3rd world tourist destination the same as Bali or Filippines.

Most of the foreigners who get into trouble in Thailand are at the bottom end of the beer bar and hooker tourist market.

You have NO IDEA what you are talking about!facepalm.gif

Australia is one of the safest countries in the world. With police making a concerted effort to kerb violence at licensed venues. There are multiple laws against serving intoxicated patrons. In the past year, 10 per cent fewer Aussies have travelled to Thailand which remains the country with the highest hospitalisation and death rate for Australian visitors.

  11. Thais are really shooting themselves in the foot, This gets back to Australia people will avoid Thailand and i dont blame them , Thais need to grow up.

I can assure you as I am one that no Aussie is going to dodge Thailand because a couple of blokes got toweled up by some bouncers outside a club. Happens the world over mate blokes are punching all over Oz when they are on the turps. In this case I heard (only hearsay) that it was originally 5 on 6 and one of the Aussie lads tried to king hit one of the bouncers which is what kicked it all off. Stop bashing Thailand don't hang around seedy areas with hooker's and drugs and copious amounts of piss anywhere in the world if you find a blue a bit hard to stomach.

With the aussie dollar falling so much and now another incident involving Australians in Thailand, it will have an impact on Australians planning an OS trip, especially to Thailand. Not all Australians are bogans!

btw where are the areas that are NOT "seedy ... with hooker's and drugs and copious amounts of piss" in Thailand??? cheesy.giffacepalm.gif
