So why did this macabre parade occur if the process is no longer meant to happen?
Why was the decision made to showcase the alleged crime if not for media sensation, self promotion; glorification?
Failing to protect and encouraging a suspect to self incriminate only leads to allegations of coercion, inducement, appeals, early release etc.
It does nothing to increase the skill set of the murder investigation team.
Men's Rea and Actus Reus are proven in court not by some television side show for the gratification of the the victim's family and the masses.
I understand that they have a extra layer of evidence to confirm their investigation.
I'm not sure how useful this is if the suspect denies involvement, but if they do admit
guilt then showing how the crime was committed may well mean that the right person
is prosecuted.
Having said that, it does seem an odd procedure, certainly compared to how these crimes
are investigated in other countries.

It was only a matter of time before Thailand was red listed by Europe and UK due to it third world Covid-19 response. I imagine there are still flights leaving Thailand but on arrival in UK you will be required to do full hotel quarantine at your own expense.
I think it's more to do with keeping the delta variant out of Europe and the USA.
Travel from the UK to the USA is also banned.

Actually if you read all the restrictions you don't have to agree at all. All you need to do is cancel your holiday in Phuket and go somewhere that you will be welcomed.
I've not really been paying attention, so is there a country that you can just book a
flight to and have a nice holiday with absolutely no restrictions?
I'm in the UK and the list of places I can visit without having to quarantine on my return
is ridiculously small and virtually impossible to get to like the Falklands and St Helena.
Aus and NZ are ok but I'm not sure are open to tourists right now.

The final nail in the coffin for the Phuket Sandpit.
They will be lucky if they reach double figures when they open with draconian measures such as these.
Of all the hoops and hurdled required to enter Thailand at the moment, why would a
wristband with some kind of tracking device be the final nail in the scheme?
Most people happily carry around a phone which does pretty much the same thing,
and surely only spies and hardened criminals worry about whether the authorities
knows which beach, bar restaurant or hotel they are staying at.

you are lucky enough to be staying legally in Thailand. Police we have come in contact have been extremely helpful and dedicated in their jobs and responsibility. Perhaps, the police in your home country have sowed doubts into you long before you came here.
All the cool kids around here like to bash the police, some use Uber words to describe them
like "plod" to give the illusion that they truly are 1%ers, whereas they are just desperately
harvesting "likes" on a forum largely inhabited by bitter old losers.
Having got over my rant, this case does read like a plot from the anglo/french TV show "death in paradise" where the parents went for a walk and returned to find his parents dead or dying
in the pool. Incredible to believe that sequence of events and
the police seem not to have done any real investigation.

When did having a beer with a friend become ‘alcoholism’ ?????
A bit sanctimonious with these ‘non-drinking / non gathering’ times comment don’t you think?
Are you telling us you have not had a drink and not met up with any friends for the past 3 or 4 months ????
There are no regulations against having friends round for dinner and beers (outside of Phuket), the only difference is that this was done publicly.
In most tourist places bars, pubs and restaurants are not allowed to sell alcohol.
You know it, I know it, these silly old boys knew it and thought they would get away
with a cheeky beer or 2.
If this contravenes current guidelines what are the police supposed to do?
Hit the bar owner for some tea money, geez all the lions would have a field
day with that!
They do their job in their own unique style and get 7 pages of indignant posters
making angry comments.
I don't agree all the strict rules, but if I want to keep my blurred features out if the
Thai visa news thread, I try not to break them. Simples.

Ok. Irrespective of my beliefs , law is the law, so if one breaks it then tough luck . But problem I have is why make arrests and such a fuss. This is not criminal offence . So you caught them breaking the news law, issue them with fines on the spot and end of story .
why turn it into a circus ?
when big P was caught not wearing a mask , he was not arrested or detained , but simply issued with a fine , why this any different ?
it makes news, it scares people from coming when you get arrested for fineable offences
Have they been imprisoned, deported, blacklisted?
What offences have they been charged with and what are the consequences?
I would guess, and it's only a guess as per usual the headline does what it's supposed
to do, ie create hysteria among the usual suspects here, without providing any real
information and guaranteed no follow up, that the person in the most trouble here
would be the bar owner who sold the booze.
I'm sure everyone involved knows the deal and knowingly risked this outcome.
A mere slap on the wrist and on your way old man isn't going to deter anyone,
so I can understand why the police would put on a show.
As for big p, if he was merely given a fine, how did you get to hear about it? Did you
just happen to be present at the time of did someone put it in the news?

No doubt by now this article has already been sent to the BBC and others' news sites.
Why would it?
I don't see anyone outside of this forum being remotely
interested in the carry on with 3 old duffers on an obscure
island in Thailand.
Although interesting to me and you, people around the world
really don't care about trivial matters in s place they couldn't
point to on a map.
Israel and Hammas blowing each other up last week isn't even
given a mention on the news this week.

My advise is sell up and rent you never know when this government will change the requirements and kick you out.Any more details on these people you know?
What new rules were brought in which meant they had to go?

Im really pro vaccination but I would not want the Chinese vaccine plus nobody should be forced to take a vaccine if they don't want to as long as they accept the results. (less travel ect maybe no job). I would take the European or American vaccines. Not Russian or Chinese.
But surely as the Chinese invented the virus then deliberately infected the world to
bring down trump, or take over the world, surely their vaccine would be the most
affective!

10,570 DEAD 405,259 Injuries: European Database of Adverse Drug Reactions for COVID-19 “Vaccines”
The European database of suspected drug reaction reports is EudraVigilance, which also tracks reports of injuries and deaths following the experimental COVID-19 “vaccines.” Their report through May 8, 2021 lists 10,570 deaths and 405,259 injuries following injections of four experimental COVID-19 shots: COVID-19 MRNA VACCINE MODERNA (CX-024414). COVID-19 MRNA VACCINE PFIZER-BIONTECH. COVID-19 VACCINE ASTRAZENECA (CHADOX1 NCOV-19). COVID-19 VACCINE JANSSEN (AD26.COV2.S). Mordechai Sones of America's Frontline Doctors published a video yesterday illustrating the effects of the COVID-19 shots in various countries with mortality rates. The data was compiled from healthdata.org, and The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), an independent population health research center at UW Medicine, part of the University of Washington. In almost every country, death rates INCREASED just after the COVID-19 "vaccine" roll outs.
Are these headline numbers purely deaths as a direct consequence of the vaccine
and if so is that one particular variety of a general result of all the vaccines?
Are these deaths and illnesses a result of covid 19 or does it include the multitude
of child vaccinations plus the TB prevelant in Asia?
Please don't ask me to read the link as I really don't understand a lot of the technical
language used (I'm more than happy to admit my ignorance) and detect a slight
whiff of flat earthers in the organisation that published the report.

'My prediction is that the local vaccine will not only prove to be highly effective and reliable but that the Thai authorities will be able to produce it by the bucketload and put it into everyone’s arms at a rate of hundreds of thousands per day very soon. '
Why would it not be effective and reliable? AZ has already proved itself. All we need now is for BioSceinece to prove they can produce this FOREIGN vaccine in the quantities promised and on time, but having revised the numbers already that seems doubtful.
I'm as far removed as an anti vaxer as you can find, but how exactly has the AZ vaccine
proved itself?
In the UK the roll out has been carried out at an impressive rate but this has coincided with
a national 4 month lockdown. My mum despite having 2 doses of the Pfizer jab has been
virtually house bound for more than a year so has had relatively small exposure to the virus.
I'm due my 2nd AZ jab in a week or so and have every faith in the research and hope that
it is effective, but to equate low nationwide infection rates purely to the vaccine roll out
would be a mistake in my mind.

Welcome to Pattaya. It's no fun here right now.
-6000 baht for having a beer near Jomtien Beach alone
-4000 baht for sitting with one person outside of their condo, one person had an alcoholic drink
-5000 baht for walking on Soi Buakhao with a beer from 7-11 alone
-20,000 baht for a group drinking on the beach who all live together
-6000 baht for not wearing a mask while bicycling.
Wandering around drinking alone is your idea of fun?

What does mask-wearing have to do with immigration?
Maybe because immigration deal with foreign nationals every day
and are merely passing on new regulations to visitors to their office.
I see this as a positive and courteous gesture.

Given Netflix track record anything they do is suspect....
Is that not the show I saw on BBC earlier in the year?
I didn't realise it was a Netflix production.
Just googled it, the mini series I saw was a BBC production and
was a bit rubbish. I only watched the first episode which seemed to
go on for hours. I didn't bother with the rest.
Now my interest has been rekindled I may give it another go and hope
it's improved.

Well, I did try it, Actually I was quite good at it. However, one day I stopped and thought, if something from another planet could see me, hitting a little white ball into a hole in the ground, they would obviously doubt the sanity of us earthlings, so I stopped.
What would these little green men think of you "talking" on line to people you don't know
about knocking a little white ball into a hole in the ground?

I hope the gold shop is not holding them responsible for the theft?
If a nervous looking guy had been in and out of the shop 3 times , was given 7baht

would be responsible?
It doesn't sound like force or threats were used in this case.

Just to make things clear: How long has Morocco been a 'Middle eastern' country? Last time I looked at a map, it was still in North Africa.
99% of Moroccan people are considered Arab, so perhaps by ethnicity she
Is " middle Eastern", but clearly, in geographic terms Morocco is in North west Africa.
Would Mo Farah be considered European as he lives in and
represented Britain in the Olympics?
I'm not one of those types who say a certain person cannot be
a particular nationality because of colour or creed, I have a lot
of respect for Mo and others given the chance to improve
their lives in a wealthier, more stable environment.

‘Bangkok’s Hamptons’: why Thailand’s elite are buying beach properties in Hua Hin

Pattaya has all the above and more.
It's also very easy to avoid the fleshpots of Buakhow, soi 6 and walking Street if you're
not interested in that kind of thing.
Bangkokians won't be hassled on beach road by the girls and ladyboys, they know
their customers.
There are plenty of sleazy places in Bangkok and they are somehow capable of
avoiding these too.
I think the easy access to Pattaya is a big reason why it will remain a draw for people
from the capital.
I'm not knocking HH it is a nice town, I have seen some YouTube videos of some of
the beachfront condos and the asking prices were eye watering!
Also I saw a video of ordinary looking pot plants (not the wacky type!) with an asking
price of 2 million baht, so it appears some people have plenty of cash to spend!
