Should this not be the government's job to provide the taxpayer with the vaccine at no cost?
How much are they charging? I haven't been around here much recently and may have
missed the announcement.

I was about to post something similar. Cebu is a <deleted>hole. Went there on a boat and we lost a day due to literally tons of plastic rubbish on the anchor/chain. Puerta Galera is decent, some good bars, plenty of girly clubs/bars if you like that, the floating bars are great. Diving A1, if you want that too. Expats friendly. I went all over and that is the one place I would go back. Borocay: a good chance of being drugged and robbed - happened to me the last time I went - only there one night and on my 3rd drink, around sunset.. Worst hangover I've ever had.
Literally tons of plastic rubbish on the anchor chain? Really? I'm surprised the boat didn't sink.

It's called reciprocity, get used to it - I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of it handed out over the next few years from all around the world.
Also the UK is no longer locked into EU laws so I expect some quite dramatic changes there over the next few years.
Are you the spokesman for the reform party?
What is being reciprocated? And what dramatic changes will be made over the next few years?

But will they be approved and available at private hospitals?
They have been approved in most western countries and still being administered, even in
Norway I believe.
There is always danger of problems with vaccination programs, and it isn't clear exactly
what has happened in this case. My 80 year old mother has had both doses of the
Pfizer jab and had less reaction than she felt with the annual flu jab.
Sorry I didn't answer the post that I quoted. Who knows whether private
hospitals will use vaccines that haven't been officially approved, if I were
to pay top dollar for a vaccine, I would hope that it had been approved in
the country I which it was administered and the private hospitals would
want to avoid potential legal problems.
The government statement is one aimed at alleviating any potential "anti vacc" issues,
if a significant percentage of the population decide not to vaccinate due to fears of
potential death, then any program would be practically useless.

Your a better man than me, my appetite is smaller than that, once a week, sometimes twice, but then again, I like those numbers, 5 different young fillies and one night with the Mrs and one night off for her, actually, I wouldn't need a night off if that's the way it works, so put me in for 6 ????
How would you feel if your wife had 5 or 6 guys banging her during the week?
I assume you're only joking or exaggerating, about your exploits to look cool
on the internet, but I've often wondered how the many lotharios who post about
their various concubines would feel if the shoe was on the other foot.

The Thai government should cook and sell meals in the streets?
Don't they have more important things to do?

I don't mind paying an extra 300 THB when it is included in the flight ticket anyway as a "stealth tax". I usually am reimbursed by the company for my air travels.
But then again, I am NOT a tourist AND I am fully insured. Will I be treated like every other foreign visitor and have to pay up? How will that scheme distinguish between tourists and expats? It probably won't. Just as always.
Jesus, if you are an international business traveller, does 300 baht really matter that much?
It really is amazing how people get so het up over such trivial matters.

According to Sanook News, Deputy Public Health Minister Sathit Pitutecha has said that if people continue to follow the preventative measures put in place to limit the spread of the virus, then the Songkran water festival will go ahead as normal in April.
Who would believe that?
They announced two weeks ago to shut down schools in provinces without sick people.
It was decided on a Sunday evening at 9 pm.
How would they know now if the numbers are still low in April?
The fortune tellers must make good money these days.
There is a big fat IF in the statement which means that it (the statement) comes
with provisos, not a guarantee.

I wish it could be banned indefinitely.
What an odd observation to make from the article.
It literally has absolutely no reference to road deaths whatsoever. Yet that is
the "obvious" conclusion you come to.

Instead, the whole country is made to suffer the consequences of inaction, of not locking down ground zero, Samut Sakorn (just a relatively small section of the province, actually) the first day of the second outbreak. It is beyond comprehension. It should have been locked down like a maximum security penitentiary. Cordoned off. Nobody comes in or out. And can anyone guess why it wasn't? It is one of the largest seafood distribution centers in Thailand, and it would have meant the loss of a small fortune, for some. So, it came down to sacrificing a large fortune, and the nations economy, for a relatively small out of money, coming from those seafood sales. Nothing else makes sense. No other explanation means anything, or comes close to breaking down why this action as not decisively taken. Sure, the main market was closed. But, people were allowed to travel freely, and become super spreaders. Just incredibly dumb policy and a nearly unforgivable lack of action. Samut Sakorn should have been completely locked down, within 24 hours, instead of a partial and anemic lockdown days later. As always with this administration, too little, too late.
I would love to do a poll, and ask how many of us and how many Thais, thought the army would use this latest outbreak to their advantage? To flex their feeble muscles, even more? To put down the return of the promised protests? To contain the masses?
How about if we turn this around on them. I don't know about you, but I am quite angry right now. They allowed this to happen, after all. This could have been so easily prevented. So, what the ex-pat community, and the Thai people should be asking is:
1. How can you demonstrate to us, that you are up for the task of leadership?
2. What are you doing to prove that you can and will protect us?
3. Instead of contact tracing us, how about we trace you, and make sure you are doing your job? How about you report to us daily, and let us know how you are handling and containing this epidemic that happened on your watch? Stop talking, and start working, and doing your jobs.
4. Why did you not prevent this? How did you allow these corrupt officials to let infected people in? Why is nobody in a position of power being arrested? Why aren't heads rolling?
5. Why are you not making the vaccines more of a priority? Why isn't the army sacrificing some of its huge budget for the people?
6. What are you planning on offering the people in the way of assistance, so they can survive this disaster you helped create?
7. Can you demonstrate to us why you think Anutin, who has no background whatsoever in the filed of health, is up for the task of tackling this emergency?
8. And why are you shutting down so many businesses, yet you allowed ground zero to remain open to people coming and going since this latest outbreak happened, only closing the province down yesterday? Why such bad decisions, and such extreme incompetence? How do you justify that? How do you explain that? Thousands of cases emanated from Samut province. You knew that would happen.
9. How about a compulsory level of competence and experience, for all future administration appointments to key positions?
10. Why have you been so hard on foreigners, making it so incredibly difficult to fly in, yet so lax on the borders?
11. Why should we allow you to remain in power? What have you done lately to deserve that power?
I do love your rants, this one was spectacular, I even read it twice !!

be happy you are not being forced to take the "vaccine". that will come later. most likely some Communist Chinese garbage.
The vaccine due to be rolled out in Thailand is the Astra Zeneca/Oxford version.
Manufactured under licence in Thailand
This has been in use in the UK for a week now, although, not being an expert on these
things, I couldn't possibly say if it were better or worse than a Chinese version.

Are the authorities really monitoring this place for wrong doings?
Just about every thread has a post slagging off the government, females, education standards,
driving standards and just about every aspect of Thailand and its inhabitants.
I made a sarky comment in reply to one of the untouchables and got a short ban.
If the owners and mods here were worried about potential lawsuits, then there would
be tumbleweed rolling through here as most people would be on an enforced break!!

Why Brits? nowhere else has this new Covid strain? I think once vaccines roll out to have a vaccine 'passport' is a useful thing - then allow free travel.
It was the johnson who made such a song and dance about the new strain in an attempt to
"save face" over one of his many U turns.
This particular ill thought proclamation about the new strain was because he had basically
said that everyone could enjoy an unrestricted Christmas before looking for an excuse to
call it off without looking like the Grinch?
Oops, looks like I replied to the wrong post/poster.

They should also restrict which countries they let use their Oxford vaccine
Astra Zeneca have a facility in Thailand ready to produce the Oxford vaccine as soon
as it gets approval.
AZ are an independent pharmaceutical company selling a vaccine to whoever they want.
The thoughts of an angry Thai visa subscriber will not change that fact!

They don't want to let the British mutant virus out into population,
its spreading like wildfire in UK, with 50,000 + cases per day.much
easier to be infected. what about the others on the flight they took ?

In theory, everyone else on the flight will be in quarantine and tested over the next 2 weeks
so if they're infected with any strain of the virus it should be picked up.

They ordered 26 million doses of the Oxford vaccine from UK but I speculate the Oxford vaccine will go to the richest people while the poor will probably get some shady Chinese one.
The AZ Oxford vaccine will be made in Thailand for domestic and SE Asian markets.
Maybe their regulatory rules are stricter than the UK's as the vaccine passed there.
Mind you the Pfizer vaccine was ok'd in the UK a few days before anywhere else which makes
me a little nervous, especially as they have stuck the first dose into my mother already.

So when you've been vaccinated with two shots and a couple of months later decide to take a trip do you think quarantine is still applicable?
Lets assume massive percentages of many populations will be vaccinated before about September 2021 (they will be), come winter 2021 these people shouldn't need to quarantine and I'm going to suggest that they won't need to, all the rules will be very different by then.
In the first 3 quarters of 2021 I also suspect Thailand will receive almost zero tourists, so few that they will barely count.
I'm not sure these directions will apply in 9 months time, there may not be quarantine requirements
by then if the vaccination program has been rolled out in Thailand.
In the short term, an official document, accepted by the local authorities stating which vaccine
and what dosage has been given to the individual. This may well prove difficult and open to
abuse, so probably best to keep the current rules.
My mum has had the first of her 2 Pfizer jabs and wasn't given any official documents to
say that she had, despite asking the nurse specifically as she has a holiday planned in the
summer and she was concerned about insurance.
