It only happens when we go out to a local-type of restaurant or bar outside of our normal area where we are known. She says that they talk down to her, treat her with contempt in the way that they speak, make it clear what they think of her. She always refuses to allow me to leave a tip in these type of places. We've learned to spot it early on and not order, just leave and find someplace else where they aren't so rude.

Oh and before I go bottom line he was never going to be in that job forever they routinely get transferred to their next assignments regardless of why he was transferred.  He’s not the first Immigration Chief and I assure you that his replacement will not be the last one either.  So everyone ought to relax about it.  

Never heard that term before.  Never heard anyone use it within ear shot, although I suspect the small brain retards out in the village probably would.  Closest I heard was years ago when we bought another big water tank in the city.  Miserable looking Thai guy with a fat wife and 2 kids in his beat up pick up truck arrived.  The wife sat in the truck ranting in Thai.  After they left, wife said she was banging on about "See, this is the kind of big house you get if you marry a farang!".

No, she was  listening to the  news at 1 am  today whist I was driving the car to our  weekend  house. The  main gist was business  people and the Chinese were not  happy  .

i know the guy who has been nicked, and he has only been nicked for overstay, nothing else.  he was not involved in anything criminal.
 
i went to see him yesterday in hua hin police station, and will go again today.  he was in court yesterday, and fined 1000 baht for something, and he will be held in hua hin over the weekend, then he is unsure (as he couldnt follow what was being said, as his thai is not very good).
 
maybe it is bangkok next?  
 
do most people think the best way to get flown out of IDC as quick as possible is to transfer the money to embassy in bangkok?  i know his dad (the OP) has been in touch with them already.  do people on here agree that will be the quickest way?  i can make payment at this end too if that will hurry things along, but to me the embassy method seems more efficient and reliable i would think........

What makes you think that tourism is going down?.Its only UK retired on minimum pension they want out.Bad for business.Of course all tourists go home.If not they would not be just that.

Had a scotsman working with me once. his gf was due to give birth. we told him he could request the midwife throw a few stitches in after the event, just to make her 'tight' again...two days before her due date I had to fess-up and tell him not ask the midwife to do this. he was really up for it though.

You certainly are...it is Baht not Bhat!     LOL

His son is also active on social media. Also educated abroad and likes to use the F word in his posts.  

I say ban all bananas, zucchinis, cucumbers, carrots and jack fruit !!
