  1. Sorry got to be said. You cannot put brains where they are none. They don't seam to learn from there mistakes, I see it every day, I see the Same people taking the same chance every day instead of doing the right thing. Statistics say one day you will be caught out. There was some research done in the Uk. Most fatal accidents are near the victims home. Mainly because they get familia with the road and take chances.

  2. There are plenty of jobs in Thailand for these displaced vendors who are unwilling to do a hard days work for a living. Thailand has to bring in over 2 million foreign workers to do the work Thais are unwilling to do. I am not a bit sorry for them, they should be removed from all public areas in the entire country. IOM its the height of laziness or should I just call it Thainess!

  3. Great News, no stupid water guns and buckets of water during songkran, as the public will use water sparingly wink.png . Fine those 10,000 Baht each that break the law. Oops there was me thinking there was going to be change. Wake up LG nothing will change.

I was waiting for the songkran haters, didn't take long...

So you really think that if there's no water at all in many parts of thailand they still will throw it at you during songkran? Think again.

Thian, you should rethink your last paragraph. Sure they will throw water as long as there is water to throw. Who cares about the problems facing others,

    it's all about me........

  4. PM admits he was annoyed by repeated questions from the media

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha admitted on Thursday that he felt frustrated almost on daily basis because of the repeated questions from the media and this has been going on for the past two years.

Some reporters asked me the same questions that I have answered. Shouldnt I feel frustrated. If you heard the questions that were raised with me, you would feel more frustrated, said the prime minister.

He pleaded with the media to ask less questions which will lead to conflicts in the country. He said that he could not blame any individuals in particular but the whole of us for not being instilled in our minds logic and reasoning but only the issues of democracy, liberty and freedom.

Pointing out that the country is not yet fully democratic, the prime minister said he would try to be democratic as much as possible although this may not be possible for some issues.

The best way to avoid conflicts in the society is for the people not to break the law and if anyone breaks the law, he/she must face the consequences of the law. Breaking the law and then rejecting the courts verdict and then running away. This is unacceptable and we should not accept this, said the prime minister.

Regarding the lottery problem, the prime minister made clear that he would not allow the Government Lottery Office to issue more lottery tickets because there wont be enough lottery tickets to meet the endless demand.

Issuing more lottery tickets will encourage more people to enter the business. Thai people like to do things in an easy way, he said.

    Finally a correct statement!

  5. A shop tried to charge me 2% for using my debit card once, claiming it was good because it was less than the 3% credit card charge.

The actual reason comes from the fact that the shop owner needs to pay the company providing the card reader a fee for everything sale they use it on - because who reads the fine print here anyways x)

No they don't. And even if they did that's their cost of doing business. Increase your prices and stop trying to rip people off. Do they add a service fee for what they pay to clean the bathrooms? Telephone bill?

In the US banks charge 2 to 4% on each credit card transaction and it is considered bad business ethics (if not illegal) to attempt to charge the

customer for the credit card bank fee. The fee is included in the price of goods sold.

is there ANYTHING in this country that is not infested with corruption...?

    My Thai girlfriend.
The smiles I get when the neighbours see me painting the house.
The meteor shower the last couple of nights.
The baby who laughed so hard yesterday he pissed all over our porch.
The gf's sister next door who's calls out whenever it's time to eat and never expects to be compensated.
The schoolgirls who walk by arm in arm everyday.
    A simple Thai meal.
People who come at a moments notice when you need help.
    The genuine Thai smiles everywhere.

Now what you say are all true and nice. I am the first to say that this country has lots going for it. I am also one who does not put my head in the sand and pretend everything is rosy. It is the very fact of turning away and pretending that things like corruption don't exist, has caused the mess so far. Yes Thailand is a wonderful country but like everywhere else it has its issues. Accepting them and addressing them will make it an even better place. After all isn't that what we all want.
