Hey all, just wondering is the 30 day extension on the metv multi entry?
So basically I entered on a few days prior to the valid until date to get 8 months in total then will get a 30 day extension to make this 9 months in total, so wondering does the "powers" of the metv being multi entry flow into the additional days?
I thank you in advance

Sorry but I didn't read all the other post, but if your card uses the visa or MasterCard channel they can normally send you an emergency card, I lost one of my credit cards earlier this year, called up MasterCard concierge and they were able to FedEx me an emergency card, this was issued in Singapore and got to me 3 days later, interesting thing is the card was not branded by my bank but branded as just MasterCard, worked fine until my bank sent me a replacement that took about 3 weeks, got a pic of it attached

Because many of us are under 50 years and want to live in Thailand, myself I am 35 years old, not married, so I only quality for an investment visa, PE visa or smart visa for long term stay,
Im tired of doing back to back metv so I've applied for a smart boi visa, and from what I see my employer said it won't be an issue

That is not the case. No one is exempt from 90 day reporting.
Every year the Smart Visa holder must provide actual proof of address. The 90 day reports are being made by the BOI Smart Visa team at the One Stop.
Thats correct, I asked my employer about the 90 day report, smart visa the BOI department take care of this for you but still need to do yearly extensions they said it's similar to the 90 day report for PE holders, while by law they also need to do it the elite team does it for the holders, but then also need a yearly extensions

Umm sorry I don't know about that, probably would work as then at least your providing a departure flight out, I don't see why any issues with that, as mention before I only have ever provided a one way flight in,
The Sydney consulate seems to be quite relaxed in relation to the documents needed, as only in the last 2 years they stared requesting bank statements and arrival flights, accommodation etc,

Hi, my last metv was issued in no November last year,
I agree the website and the forms are confusing,
The woman at the window checks to ensure you have all the correct documents and to ensure you will be issued the metv, I have seen her turn a few people away as they were missing things,
When at the window I just tell her that I don't know my exact plans and that the exit prior to the 60 days is usually at Mai Sai up north being overland and no flight is needed,
Also I only book and provide a one way flight into Thailand, as the return is usually 9-12 months out later
-
I have gotten 7 metv from the Thai Sydney consulate, I never supplier an exit out after the first 60 days, I told the woman at the window that as it's a 6 month visa I don't know when I will be departing, it never has been an issue, however I can guess some other consulate's or embassies may inforce the requirement, the form itself does not ask ask in relation to the multiple entry, only single and double

I have wondered about the tm30 for a while now, as I normally stay at my partner's house, have been for the last 4 years with 7 back to back metvs, and the other half has never reported, I have never been asked about this when doing extensions, however every few months we travel around and stay at hotels so I'm guessing they report so my record must have a few blank areas

About the over stay, I am on the verge of obtaining the 5 year PE, they did ask me if I have overstayed, I have twice, one was about 12 years ago by one day, no fine, just a note in my passport, and the other was again by one day about 3 years ago, copped a thb 500 fine, PE said that it won't be an issue, so I'm guessing they bar people who overstay weeks or months on end?
-
No issues at all, the IOs at Mae Sai will check your passport and visa to ensure you will be able to get back in, if not they won't let you leave
-
Had this happen to me many times, when arriving next time IOs always fix the mistake, of the previous IO, I've had IOs stamp "used" on my metv twice by accident, and also the giving me 30 days instead of 60 days by accident, never an issue and no fee to get it fixed
-
From what I gather it's 50-80km from the airport for short haul and 275 km from the airport for long haul
-
Only issue that I know of if the applicant has overstayed, when I enquired they asked me only issues where if I ever overstayed a visa, I have once by one day and copped a 500thb fine, and they said it won't be an issue,
Also on another note another poster said the PE visa was a waste of money, however I need to disagree, I myself am single and 35 years old and don't qualify for any other visa, at aud 4400 this is cheaper for an Australian company per year to sponsor an employee on a work visa and also much less for PR

I'm on the edge of purchasing the PE visa, as I'm 35 and don't qualify for any other visa, been on the metv back to back for the last 4 years, and after doing the maths it works out much cheaper, I am an expat that recieves a salary from an Australian company, I earn a bit over the median income based in Australia, 120k aud so about 2.7 million thb per hwar, so not that much, i have colleagues that earn almost double in my line of work, but that then is a desk job, an unable to work remotely,
500k thb for the PE visa is about 22,200 aud for 5 years, so about $4400 aud per year, that alone aud $4400 is about the cost of a return flight to Sydney and back in business,
I plan on aquiring the PE visa later this year, as I'm honestly tired of traveling back to Australia every year to obtain another metv

I usually fly into Sydney and apply, takes them 3 days to issue the metv at the Thai consultant l, once issued I fly back to Thailand
-
Enter before a few days of the valid to date gives you an extra 60 days, so about 8 months, then extend at immigration for 30 days, so total is about 9 months, then unusually get a 90 day medical extension, so total about one year

I am now on my 5th metv back to back, I fly back to Sydney for about 10 days to obtain another metv once a year, and never really had an issue with immigration, I normally fly into Bangkok or Chiang Mai, only once was asked by an IO if I worked in thailand, I said no, I am on holiday and she stamped me through, will be going for a 6th metv back to back in August this year

I dont think you should worry, I've had several mistakes with dates from IO stamps on my passport, it really depends if you want to sort it out now or later,

They are not, only WP works 100% these days. Opening a bank account with mickey mouse ED visa is a lot easier in fact, even Bangkok Bank which is an official partner of TE will give you grief if you just walk in (TE concierge should contact the bank first and arrange an appointment) - I was told my visa was fake as there was no PE type visas mentioned in their manuals
Yes from what I know the PE Visa is not well recognized with the banks, hence the reason thai elite do the booking and send a representative to help opening an account, the friend of mine who has the 5 years sometimes has issues with immigration, as sometimes the io just stamps the 30 day exempt,(aus passport) he said it's not usually an issue as hes out of Thailand usually before then, but he has to tell the io and say "elite" in order to get the yearly stamp,

PE do not extend your permission to stay automatically.
When you enter Thailand you will be "Stamped In" for 1 year, if you're still in Thailand when your permission to stay is getting close to expiring, you need to either contact them so they can extend it for you or contact Immigration & extend it yourself, if you're sat on a beach 1 day after your 1 year permission to stay expires, you're on overstay, even if there's 4 years remaining on your visa & you have another 15 years on top of that left on your PE.
There's a thread on here from a guy who thought 5 years meant 5 years, ended up overstaying by > 90 days and was blacklisted for 1 year.
Key date to always keep in mind is the "Permission to stay until".
Yes that's correct, my bad English, what I was trying to state that generally they do everything for you, except the need for the yearly extension,
I'm seriously looking at the 5 year option as I've been on I think now 6 metv back to back along with a 2 x 90 medical extensions, my immigration history probably looks terrible when the io see it in the computer, however I only get grilled at bkk airport, immigration being into bkk itself, never an issue immigration desk for transfer onto chiang mai, phuket etc,

Yes and no, the PE staff extend this automatically, I'm pretty sure most people on the PE Visa travel abroad at least once per year, if not the yearly extension is provided, cost still being 1900 but no need to visit immigration, also same with the 90 day report, while legally a PE visa holder needs to do the 90day report, it's all taken care of automatically, I have a friend on the 5 year, and he advised it is great, no dealing with immigration is the most important aspect, he does not use all the bells and whistles, ie limo rides, golf, health, spas.
He does not even let them know when arriving as he just cuts in front of any immigration queue, generally not the premium lane, as what ever is closer, shows his elite card and hes through,

My apologies, but I don't see why people would want to risk entry if they cannot afford to carry 20k thb, I'm also sorry to hear you have been mugged before, yes it's a risk of losing it but the hassle of being denied entry way outweighs the salary of a few days work,
I'm not trolling and never have or will, I was just stating that if a person cannot afford, or take the risk of the 20k thb something is wrong,
-
20k thb will last a few days in Australia, yes risk of loss is an issue, however we are double expat foriegn income, 20k thb in Thailand usually last us a bit over a week, but this does depend on the outgoings, as we are developers, 20k thb can be gone in a day, for example to clear 300 sqm of land with two excavators and a Forman money just flies out of the window!
-
20k thb is nothing, what are you on about? Its less then half a week wages, based on Australian median income, honestly if someone cannot afford to hold 20k thb to ensure entry for a Visa, sorry but something is very wrong

The Multiple Entry Tourist Visa Topic (METV)
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Ah thanks for the clarification, i guessed that was the case, so the Multi entry is only valid up until the actual visa expires,
The reason for me asking was last year after I did 9 months on the metv including a 30 day extension, I then obtained a 90 day medical extension, and that itself was multi entry, as I flew back to Sydney a few times and the IOs stamped me in based on the medical, so I thought the metv "powers" flowed into the 30 days and then into the 90 day medical, but from what you guys have said, I think the 90day medical was a totally different visa that had multi entry on it,
