  1. I absolutely agree. And what is shameful to "sugar-coat" this incident now!
  2. Since I have seen another scam now multiple times and actually younger persons I know have been convinced to transfer a significant amount of money, I would like to make a small report about this scam here too. This scam does include “police officers” to call the victim with some detailed information on the person, work, family, … and then state that they have done something wrong. Once case was a false bankruptcy allegation and the other case was tax fraud. Both not true but they convinced the victims even if not true this would reflect negatively on them and it is hard to prove that they are innocent. This goes on with multiple calls and often more than one “police officer”. Then they convince the victim to settle this case and transfer XXXXX THB to an account so this problem would be solved. Somehow they are very convincing and one of the victims I know works even at a bank!! Go figure! Now funny enough the accounts which are used belong to Thai and they are located in Thailand with Thai banks. In the instances I know the Police is doing nothing neither is the bank because they would need the order from the police. Since the scammers “are fully dressed like police officers talk and act like police” speculations are allowed why nothing is done about it? I would make everyone you know also aware of this scam going on!
  3. There are quite a few pedestrian crossings with Lights in Pattaya. Try t use them and walk when you have a green light. I believe at least 30% (on a good day) of the cars simply do not stop or even slow down! Tourists may believe it is safe to cross when they show a green light. WRONG!
  4. In Bangkok you can find taxis using meters specifically if you are not in an Tourist-Area, but there is still the issue with the attitude, driving-styles cleanliness, maintenance, just to name a few. Also if there is any issue it is hard to report the driver since frequently the person on the license is not the one driving. Now with Bolt / Grab you have the drivers name and all the details if there ever is an issue which never was except one not so friendly driver in maybe 100+ rides. But then you can report this individual with details to Bolt and give one star. Good luck reporting any Taxi driver! Bolt also shows the cost when you book, so there is no incentive for the driver to take you for a large detour. Now specifically in Pattaya I have NEVER seen any local Pattaya Taxi to use the meter, some did not even have one. So for some of the comments above where is the law applied here? Bolt would be less popular if the taxis specifically in Pattaya would not rip-off the customers, just food for thoughts. Funny enough I get quite frequently a normal taxi when I book Bolt there and the fare is suddenly 100 THB instead of 300 THB.
  5. And his Gas bills (we he would not have to pay it here except for cookig gas or if he converted his car to LPG / CNG but just to make the point withthe bills and normal people being unable to pay them).
  6. If serious about tackling it this could be done if someone is serious such as Hong Kong succeeded. There are quite a few articles how they did it. BUT do not throw stones when sitting in a glass-house! IMHO a person with a watch-fairytale history is NOT the right person to point fingers at others.
  7. Reall all goes up. Chicken, Vegetable, Fue, anythingyou buy. Not as bas as in Europe yet but clearly can see the inflation kicking-in!
  8. Masks outdoors are pretty unnecessary indoors anyone who is sick could wear a mask this would makle sense. Anyone who feels more protected is free to wear a mask but the mandate needs to go! We need to return to normal and also we must have agaon tourists in numbers. The industry is devastated and the rising commodity costs make it worse. If there are chouces to go to a country with restrictions / mandates or a country where you can breathe freely I am sure quite a few will choose no restrictions.
  9. My Driving license did expire and I did apply for the appointment last year. Since I realy did not believe that there was no appointment avaialable for months I did visit in Person in Bangkok DLT at Sukhumvit. It was true my appintment was then 5 months later April when I did visit in December. I got an appointment-card and did tell them that my license has expired. The feedback was that I should just show this appointment card if I am stopped. I was stopped in February and the police noticed my license was expired. While providing the explanation and showing a picture of the appointment-card I did not pay any fine.
