  1. No, you cannot nor do not get any sort of receipt if a hotel files a TM30 for you.

No, the online system does not generate "receipts" for you to carry. You do not have to prove a valid TM filing with a piece of paper. Any IO can view your record and see the status.

You can search for your filing, do a screen capture, print or store if it makes you feel better.

Main menu, Search and view information (folder icon), Search for information on alien registration (Search TM30).

Thanks! Did a screen grab just to show her account info + my info below! Hopefully never need it.

Making trip to Ubon Immigration next week just to see what it’s like there, etc..
  2. afaik no hard copy needed by law - however i heard there's some kind of overview in the menu.
They can check in the database if you are registered there, that's all that's.

Demanding a receipt is prolly to rip you off, same for tm6 forms - u can just print them yourself before you leave using the etm6 app or use one of the many blank ones at the airport, still they sometimes demand that rubbish is in your passport...

Good info! Thanks for the heads up on the app. Had no idea it existed! :)
  3. Just back from Savannakhet TV run tonite. (writing report for separate post tomorrow)

Finished filling out online TM30 w/ GF.

**So how do I get an official printout or detailed copy/receipt of this entry?**

Could not find this print function anywhere on the page where I am now officially listed at this residence.

I was under the impression I need a hardcopy or, if staying at a hotel, I could request a copy upon checking in.

  4. Just a slight word of warning. If Mukdahan immigration spot the error as you are exiting, you will not be in any real trouble. However, I could imagine you being held up for a long time while the officials deal with, what for them, is an unusual situation. Worst case, it could prevent you arriving in time at the consulate. Personally, I would take the trouble to get the stamp corrected in advance (unless you want to avoid contact with immigration because of TM30 issues).

    Damn you’re good!! Lol
Yeah, after I started thinking out the trip for a stamp correction I realized it would prob also domino into a TM30 fine since neither GF’s dad nor myself reported me here.
And let’s face it, some foreigner pointing out the mistake of a gov employee is not going to win me any good boy points in this life or the next.
    No good deed etc etc....
But if they hold me up from making the drop before 11, I’ll book another night in Savannakhet about 5 min after I leave there.

  5.
But can I get another visa exempt entry at Pakse after extension is up?
I worry at this point I’m pushing my luck.

    Scratch that idea.
GF’s bro is taking me to Mukdahan in enough time to get to Savannakhet Consulate by 9am to drop off everything for a SETV.
Don’t want to deal with the whole stamping issue correction or possibility of an extension denial.
At present (per website) it doesn’t appear they require an appointment like Vientiane, so unless anyone sees a problem, I’m done worrying about this $&@! for the day.
    Peace out [emoji1317]
  6. it appears to be  a mistake made by officer on entry.
Go to immigration near the end of what should be your 30 day visa exempt entry and apply for the extension. Explain to them what happened and they will fix the stamping error and issue the 30 day extension.

    Thanks for the info Joe!

**But wouldn’t this reduce my initial stay to only 60 days, requiring me to still make a visa run for the 80+ days total I need in Thailand?

Would seem more economical to just make a SETV border run (Vientiane) before my initial 30 days is up.

***But would It still be in my best interest to sort out this stamping error with Ubon Immigration before I headed to Laos, if this is a valid option for me?

I will be making a Ubon my home in a few years so I def don’t want any unneeded attention upon future trips there.

  7. Received (via Los Angeles Consulate) 2 SETV’s over the course of last 12 months. Was unable to use either due to work constraints/death in the family.

Once I could nail down a definite schedule I decided to just forgo another SETV and take the 30 day arrival visa and plan a visa run to Laos to give me the 80+ days I need in country.

Upon arrival to BKK, I filed out my arrival card as a 30 day stay and did not enter any visa # on said card.

Did not discuss anything at immigration kiosk because I assumed it would be noticed that these SETV’s were expired therefore I would just receive 30 day transit visa.

    Well, that didn’t happen.

    Got a 60 day stamp.

Now I am a bit worried to show up at Ubon Immigration for the 30 day extension.

***So should I goto Ubon immigration to sort this out within 30 days of my arrival and continue to plan my visa run OR just not worry about this and prepare my paperwork for a 30 day extension?****

  8. AWESOME AWESOME work everyone!!  I really appreciate all the input and advice.

I have a lot of work ahead of me to make sure it's legal (visa, work permit), legit and doesn't shed a bad light on the local workforce.

I'll update my findings here in case anyone is interested or perhaps on the fence regarding volunteer work.

    Thanks!!!

  9. I'm looking for advice and references from those who have first-hand knowledge of volunteer organizations in Thailand, preferably outside of Bangkok.

I have scoured the internet and have an enormous database of various organizations but most of the websites have little or no updated info/reviews about the status of many of these programs.

I don't have an issue with paying a weekly/monthly fee as I realize the overhead involved in housing, food and transportation.

I understand fully as to the issue of obtaining the proper visa as well.

I know there are many organizations but the ones I am interested in the most are those that have very good ties to the community and have been well established with no controversy.

I'm not interested much in being a teacher or babysitter of sorts (although I have no issue with it) but I am very experienced within construction, farming, hands-on type work.

I hope I've provided enough info but honestly at this point I'm still researching so any advice is better than none.

    Thanks in advance!!

PS.  I'm in the states now (12hr time diff) so please excuse any timely replies.

The embassy in DC and the official consulates in New York, Chicago and Los Angles.

I've had good luck with the consulate service in Los Angeles.

Was missing a bank document with last visa app.

Their visa section guy (Bernard Rhein) emailed me.

I replied next day with the document.

Two hours later got a reply informing me it was approved and scheduled for mail-out next day.

  11. Would like to confirm that I can make a successful border run to Vientiane via Nok Air’s “fly n ride” service as featured in this website.  Just making sure nothing has changed given my current travel history and current regulations.  From everything I have read it looks good but just want to make sure in case I've missed something.

    Nationality:  American

Visa details:  Entered BKK from USA with 60 day tourist visa and obtained 30 day extension (expires Sept 18).

Travel plans: Depart BKK for Vietiane Sept 17th and return BKK Sept 18th.

Travel history (1 yr):  Only 1 previous 60 + 30 stay last year in current passport.

Will be my first border run to further extend my stay in Thailand an additional 30 days since my work project was delayed an additional month in the states.  Will also serve to get Thai GF’s firsts passport stamp.

Thanks in advance for any advice as well regarding the trip.

  12. Greetings TV!!

I'm originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, USA and work in the oil/gas E&P industry.

Had a great time surfing the site over the past year learning what I could before, during and after my trips to Thailand.

Now I'm making a go at spending much more time there and possibly making it home eventually.

    Cheers!
