  1. happy to provide you with some entertainment... the affidavit went away only because the US embassy in Thailand quit doing it (or so i am told). so, if i can get the embassy here to complete it then i can bring it with me. i am just not wanting to transfer in to a thai bank if i don't have too...
  2. what if i get an affidavit of income from the consulate in LA or DC before i arrive in thailand?
  3. i have always done the Non-Imm O-A in my home country which accepts a notarized pension letter as proof of income. i am considering a visa exempt arrival and getting my Non-Imm O in country. will they accept my notarized pension letter in country? (our embassy no longer does this in thailand) or will i have to open a thai bank account? the non-imm O-A also requires a full year worth of insurance. if i get the non-imm O in country am i still required to get the insurance? thank you all...
  4. good suggestions, thank you… we have gathered most of his stuff now and have access to everything except his phone and laptop. his vaccination card shows that he was due for his booster (according to the CDC) do you know if thailand also requires a booster to be fully vaccinated? he has 2 maderna with the last one given in june 2021…
  5. any idea how we could find out? did he make application online maybe? would immigration know?
  6. A man that i meet a few weeks ago now lies in a public hospital in ko samui after suffering a stroke. He is conscious but is unable to communicate with me. I am in contact with his daughter and we are trying to find out if he has insurance and with who. Is it possible he entered the country in Oct 2021 without insurance? If insurance was required how would we go about finding his policy? online? agent? Any and all help in this situation would be appreciated. Including how to deal with hospitals and getting him to a private hospital and perhaps a suggestion for which one. Much gratitude in advance…
  7. i don't think we know that yet do we? or did i miss the announcement that they will be extending the covid extension? oops! never mind i misread the comment...
  8. I have a friend with a swiss passport who will need to report by mid january. The online system looks a mess and she is technically challenged. Does anyone have a link to the process that is clearly stated? She will be reporting from Phuket. Thank you...
  9. you do realize that vaccinated people can get and spread covid?
  10. The STV looked the most attractive to me and is why I assumed i might find the 400/k/40k in a 3 month option. I have yet to find the health insurance for only 3 months. I have given up on this. I was interested in the new 90 day non-O because it only requires my pension letter and no funds transferred to the thai bank accounts. I assumed that i could just extend it once in country. I have settled on a standard 60 day tourist visa and will either extend it or apply for a Non-O. I am from the US arriving mid-oct and will stay as long it suits me. Possibly until May 2022. I am not vaccinated (I have other means). Thanks everyone...
  11. I would like to just get the new Non-O 90 day retirement visa before I leave. It seems that it requires 40k/400k health insurance but i have not had any luck finding anyone who will write a 90 day policy. Only yearly policies. It seems that the 40k/400k health insurance would also meet the COVID-19 requirements is this true? Another idea would be to enter the country with the 45 day visa on arrival with covid-19 insurance and apply for my non-O 90 day visa in country. What supporting documentation is needed to apply for the non-O retirement in country? I will have my notarized pension letter. Is a criminal record required? and will the IO require proof of 40k/400k health insurance?
  12. I will be entering with the Non Imm O - Retirement Visa (90 days). I believe i only need the $100k covid insurance and not the 40/400k baht insurance. Can someone please confirm this?
  13. 1. Is it possible to extend Non-O without putting money in a Thai Bank? I have a notarized letter of pension benefit in excess of 65k baht a month. 2. If i enter the country with a Non-O-A good for a year but have an outbound flight for 30 days later and insurance for the same will they accept this? 3. The antibody test is a good idea to see where i am with this insanity. Naive? perhaps but there are many things one can do to recruit help for the immune system other than becoming vaccinated. I am watching the options and when/if one becomes available that makes sense to me then i may accept it...
  14. I am in the process of applying for my Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O-A”. I see now it is done online and the steps are very clear. I am not vaccinated and don’t wish to be (I suspect that I have had covid). I plan to arrive in BKK in Mid-Oct and then transfer to Phuket and/or Koh Phangan after my 14 day Q. My questions are as follows: 1. What is the domestic travel like in Thailand right now and best guess for Oct? 2. Is being vaccinated required for the sandbox programs in Phuket and Sumui? 3. Best Insurance Option Thank you…
