That's not the way insurance works, out of your hypothetical 1 million tourists not even 0,01% would need hospital treatment for an accident and I think this insurance would only be for accidents, for an illness you would need your normal travel insurance. Your wife's '50 Baht system' only covers illness, not accidents. I think this move is positive why look down on any improvement that the government tries to make for tourists, there seems to be a system of damned if they do, damned if they don't here.
The B30 covers a lot more than just illness. Including maternity, preventative vaccinations and so on

At B100,000 per day the scam seems to be run by the hospitals

good to see you alive and kicking still Steven after your masters misfortune at the election. The same can’t be assumed for the unfortunate victim in this article.- 1

The Human rights coucil in the UN must wake up and let stupid topics and impose sanctions on Thailand as xenophobia, murders, and crime have been increasing a lot recently, the world bank also shouldn't lend Thailand any money
And the human race should impose posting sanctions upon those who clearly can’t read and understand what went on and where but instead they misinterpret the basis of the article on their predetermined agenda which had no relevance to the article.- 1

In Malaysia, by law, all labour must cease at 5pm so as not to disturb the public.
The law is generally respected, too.
Unfortunately in Thailand people generally have little respect for others and are just self absorbed in their own importance

The expression "Minister-cum-interior" indicates that a person has a dual position, serving both as a Deputy Prime minister and overseeing matters related to the interior.
Unlucky for him he is not the “interior -cum-Minister”
a job with many applicants I would assume

What we have here is a lack of common sense. Two factors come to mind.
1. The govt is partly to blame for constantly denying people in Thailand have sex. There is a huge sex industry here and there is always a seedy side to red light areas so caution must be taken.
2. Its hard to believe that these Chinese women have no idea what the main attraction is in Nana.
I dont think I have ever been anywhere in the world without checking it out in a book or on the internet etc first.
I think these women knew exactly what goes on there and were curious or some maybe even looking for a bit of attention themselves. I not saying they wanted to get involved in any way apart from maybe getting looked at or a whistle. And yes they should be able to do that safely, sure! But like the girl raped on Koh Chang recently, she should be able to wander alone or with a guy to a secluded beach without hassles but unfortunately that is not the world we live in.
The exact same happens in China and like Thailand they pretend it doesn’t happen

It’s also dangerous for foreign men especially those who just topped up their attractiveness from an ATM.

If you didn’t understand Thailand you wouldn’t believe this.
Once you understand Thailand you expect it
