As a slight aside but definitely a follow up subject I got this link from a mate of mine this evening.
It can be very important to married guys and especially those with young children.
https://www.gov.uk/register-a-death/y/overseas/thailand/same_country
No, sadly there is no end to the UK government rip offs.If your widow wants to claim the £2,000 death benefit from the UK then she HAS to go through all this crap and if you have children of school age they are entitled to an allowance while in full time schooling until age 18 I think.Barstewards and double barstewards the lot of them.
I have been looking at the forms for death benefits and have not seen any indication that you have to register the death in the UK to claim benefit. In fact it states that the UK will accept a registered death certificate from the country where the death took place. Could anyone confirm this, clearly it is important.

Do not worry boys. We know you are innocent. We are all a little distracted at the minute but will get back to our investigations into your innocence in a bit. ?☺??
You don't know they are innocent, you want to believe they are innocent, if you knew they were innocent you would be able to demonstrate it factually.
Usually according to normal Justice systems the accused is assumed to be innocent until proven guilty. the burden of proving guilt rests with the prosecution. Normally!

Both the visit visas obtained thus far have used printouts from UK online banking.
Thanks fr the info.

And these were my docs-:ImageUploadedByThaivisa Connect Thailand1419327586.481025.jpg
I notice that the OP sent printouts of his bank statements, I thought they stipulated original documents. I do not get bank statements as I use internet banking, so can I assume printouts are ok.
As I have been in Thailand for almost three years since my last UK visit, do I need a Tuberculosis test?
I am hoping to visit the UK with my wife and adopted Thai daughter in the spring.

This is so elementary I would think you would have acquired this knowledge at this point in your life. Skin color is only important to intellectual morons, people that need to make excuses for their failures.
Intelligent, motivated, resourceful people are successful no matter the color their skin, they adapt, they don't quit, they don't make excuses and they don't fail. They don’t waste their time thinking about their skin color they are busy succeeding.
I can only assume by your posts that you spend your time making excuses and thinking like a failure.
Unless you live in Thailand and happen to be a bright kid from Issan. Dark skin colour.
You wrote, "Skin color is only important to intellectual morons, people that need to make excuses for their failures."
I don't think the EEOC would agree with you.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. It is also illegal to discriminate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of dis
The government is a con, a physiological operation; successful people are in demand because of the skills they have acquired, the color of their skin is meaningless.
-
it is a lot more about education than skin color. In fact, an educated person of color, who is a hard worker, has more opportunities than a white person in my country, simply because they are less numerous than educated whites.
Government jobs, Yes.
Everywhere else, No.
In the UK 50% of jobs are with the government..

I am okay with tourists paying more than citizens.
Cracks me up when guys that spend more on coffee than a lot of Thais earn squeak about having to pay a little more for something.
If you can't afford to travel stay home.
The adult price for a foreigner at Korat Zoo is 150 baht. This I can tell you is bloody good value, the Zoo is excellent and on top of that there is a fantastic swimming complex. I often spend a day there with my 7 year old daughter. If it's good value I do not worry about two tier pricing.

What a bunch of hypocrites many posters are here!!
Yesterday the RTP, JD and JTJ were the enemy and ridiculed by most here!!
And then today, after a loosely worded statement from a couple of laypeople, almost everyone turn on a dime!!
The RTP becomes competent policeforce, JD and JTJ gloating in post after post, supported by their new friends!!
No my friends, this case stinks and has done so from day one!! IMO it is still a cover up for someone, who paid big money.
Only evidence presented and publicized at the trial will make me change my mind!! Until then I will believe that the B2 are indeed scapegoats.
This has got nothing to do with lack of respect for the victims parents, they have my deepest sympathy. But just like me I believe, they want to see the real culprits convicted!!
When are you going to stop spreading and suggesting untruths?
Who even hinted or said anything remotely close to you making such as statement as "The RTP becomes competent policeforce, JD and JTJ gloating in post after post, supported by their new friends!!"
You have stated the masses were behind you for believing completely unfounded conspiracy theories just as your treating those of us as "enemies" for trying to point out actual facts. So now you are unhappy that most people are coming back to reality after getting a glimpse of what they asked for?
I have no idea what "most people" think.
I do know that those posters who thought that the RTP did indeed have the killers in custody have been shouted down and called names, and have been accused of being paid to post.
Average posters don't want to deal with that and have posted once or twice then left the discussion after the abuse piled on them.
I have found that many of the conspiracy theorists have nothing good to say about Thais or Thailand and I think they have an axe to grind.
I have been reading these threads for some months and would like to propose a slightly more calm approach to this tradgedy. I have no idea if these two did the evil deed, but I understand completely why there is so much sceptism. I would ask John T John and JDinasia if they have complete faith in the 7 local RTP to carry out a thorough foresic investigation into a murder scene, particularly when all a sundry are allowed to wander through the area virtually deficating NDA throughout the crime scene. These local RTP have been on the Island for some time and no doubt enjoyed the tea money available from many sources, the crime scene to them, innitially, seemed business as usual, then the shit hit the fan and all hell broke loose and PANIC.
I as I am sure many of us have had to pay the RTP money for absoloutly nothing, corruption is rife, so conspiracy theries should be expected and I do not think it fair that such theories should be denigrated. By the way I love my life in Thailand, and I love the local Thai's and I should like to point out that they suffer more than us expats from RTP extortIon.
Furthermore regarding the respect due to the victims family, I understand the loud calls for this, however there are two more families to consider, those of the now living suspects. If it had not been for the speculation and questioning of the social networks and the international press where would they be now. The victims family stated that they wished to see a fair open trial, the only way to secure this is through pressure from the social networks and international media. Carry on regardless.

Have perfect rear camera standard plus DVD on 2013 ISUZU D-Max "All-New" X-Series 4drs Highlander.
Coloured lines indicate exactly where shall nearly touch side(s) and rear when backing/turning in between cars (and next to curb).
Can rely fully on yellow(70cm) and red(10cm) lines for rear, plus green sidelines that extend 3m backwards. (When endpoint touch the curb, I make full turn and come right along the curb).
Would like to have camera at the front as well.
Or, wonder how beeps would work at the front.
I am about to have the beepers fitted to my new Fortuna sportivo. It has a camers for reversing but is wide angle and impossible to judge the distance from objects behind. I do not see any guide lines on the screen, should there be?

i have pensions and rental income, the uk embassy wants to see my P60's as evidence of income. If you pay tax on your company payments you should have a P60 which will show your yearly income.
I just had a thought. My rental income does not have a P60 as I pay tax in the following year. I have a letter from my agent which stipulates the monthly income I am paid. I would think a letter from your company would suffice.

I have a retirement visa for the last 6 years, but want to visit friends in other parts of Europe for small holidays.
How do I do this with my retirement visa? Can someone please advise.....thanks
You can get a re entry permit that allows you to enter Thailand without getting another visa. You may have a single or multiple re entry permit., these are available from immigration. Will cost you though.
Another important point. The re entry permit has to be used within your retrement extension period. The re entry permit also gives you 90 day extension on your return, again providing this is within your extension period.

My opinions are based on my experiences and up bringing. I am fortunate enough to still have a dad who is alive and well and was there for my childhood is still there for me.
The damage done is that a fatherless child is less likely to succeed. Why would anyone put a kid in a situation where that is a likely outcome? It is selfish to do so.
Anyone who has acquired the financial means to support a kid (for 18 years) will obviously understand the importance of actually raising a kid.
You never seem to respond to points made but go off on another tangent, everything based on your perfect childhood. What about the thousands of young Thai women that have their children out of wedlock, then dump them on a rellie, mum, auntie etc, to raise. Want to comment on the thousands of single mothers in the US, Britain etc raising children in poverty? Yet you seem to single out this one 70 year old who is providing for his child, now and probably in the future, as the most irresponsible of people. It's not a perfect world, accept it.
I will comment on that specifically. There are millions of people worldwide that have no financial means or desire to actually raise a child, but they have them anyway. They do it because they are likely uneducated, selfish, or do not think about the consequences.
Suggesting that because millions of others do something wrong makes it right for others to do is nonsense.
The major difference between the person in poverty and the 70 year old in question above, is that the person above does know better and understands the consequences.
Let us look at the factual results and the possible consequences of my being 71 and having a seven year old daughter. She was not the result of an unwanted pregnancy, my wife and I actually adopted her when she was three weeks old. I can almost hear your gasps of disgust, did I not know any better?
Since she was a baby I have been her constant companion I sang her to sleep with English nursery rhymes and ensured that she had access to picture books in English. From a very early age she knew about shapes, colours and the ABC and enjoyed books. Because I was retired I could spend all my time with her, painting and drawing, reading her stories, watching films or just talking all in English, while my wife spoke to her in Thai. Some years ago we moved to a city to ensure that she benefits from a decent private school education a school she still attends and loves dearly. She has been given homework from an early age and really enjoys doing this with myself and her mother
She is now seven and speaks very good English, her teacher tells us that her standard of reading and writing Thai is of a ten year old. Her favourite book now is the World Atlas, which she drags from the book case and we go through the countries her various uncles come from, she recognises Thailand on the map and knows that I come from Greenwich in London. She even knows that we live on planet Earth. She has an inquisitive mind and is not afraid to ask questions.
So apart from giving her all the love and care I could possibly muster I do believe I have given her a thirst for knowledge, an important start in life. I believe a Jesuit saying states, " give me a child until he is seven and I will give you the man" not sure if this is true, but I do believe she has been given a good start in not only her education but her outlook on life.
You alluded to the fact that when the child is 18 a 70 year old like me will not be able to go disco dancing with her, very true, but I would hopefully still be able to support her with her further education or any other aims or goals she may wish to persue. Even if I die tomorrow there are financial arrangements in place to ensure her further education through university and beyond. However I do hope to live a good few years yet and I shall continue to love and encourage her in every way possible.
Of course I shall die while she is relatively young, she will have to deal with that as do any children that have lost parents, however she will still have her mother who is much younger than me, and some wonderful memories of a very happy childhood.
The consequences may not be so dire as you like to predict.
As an aside and to get back on topic. When I am out with my family a much younger wife and an infant Thais do not sneer at me and the wife but are mesmerised by the tiny Thai girl conversing with me in English. Some older Thai women have approached my wife in Robinsons and asked if the child speaks Thai.

Personally I don't think I would want a massive age gap, Mrs T is 6 years younger than me, which Is fine. However, maybe I should have a 20 year old Mia Noi, to make me fit in
I wonder if she's still alive ?
I remember the days when I use to perve on the young girls, now I. checking out their grandmothers & still getting some serious wood.
Love chatting up the old gurls in the old grandma and grandpa shops......especially when grandpa is out.
I prefer women without Teeth. You be careful, they can give you a nasty suck!

Look at American Foreign Policy since the Great Depression, up to the present day, and you will find your answer.
Yes, it was bad foreign policy to begin lend lease and finance the battle of Britain to allow you to continue to speak English. Poor policy to side with the allies in WWII and get you out of those little cages the Japs put you in. Even worse policy to rebuild both the infrastructure and economy in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia; and that poor policy was exponentiated by the fact we erased your debt for all these concessions. Our offensive foreign policy even forced humanitarian aid in food, medicine and education on numerous countries in Africa and Asia. Worse yet we engaged the Soviet Union in the Cold War to preserve your way of life and return independence to many countries in Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Do not forget the horrible decision to fight the war on terror instead of letting you enjoy sharia law after fighting it alone. Of course, if you don't know these things and think our foreign policy mistakes far out-number our successes, well . . . .
Britain made it's final payment of it's war dept to the US under the Blair government. Cannot remember the year.

If tax allowances for expats were to be abolished, would it be possible for us to choose to be taxed under the Thai income tax instead of the UK system?
Yes If you are resident in Thailand for more than 6 months one can opt to pay income tax in Thailand and on my reckoning with the Thai personal allowances for those over 65 and with pensions/income of around 10,000GBP per year one would be more than1,000GBP better off should the UK abolish personal tax allowance for expats. If married then with spouse allowance this could be reduced by about 50%.
Over 65 and in Thailand there is a personal allowance of 190,000B, Not over 65 then an allowance of 150,00B, then there is a 5% tax on income over that amount up to 300,00B then 10% tax up to 500,00B then 15% up to 750,000B. and then 20% up to 1 million baht
I will be in this situation in the near future (no where near the 1 million baht mark unfortunately ) so could well be an option for me.
It does seem that with this dual taxation agreement in place for many countries the UK government will, if they go ahead with this proposal, be forcing many expats to change over and then in turn will be in effect be boosting other countries economies.
Does one know if you change a Private pension into QROPS do you still have to declare any drawdown funds to the UK taxman.
Would this apply to all pensions, State pension, Teachers pensions etc ?

You seem to be assuming that landowners in Europe have to produce something to qualify for their subsidies, they certainly did not a few years back. This may have changed but I doubt it. Large rich landowners in the UK get nice big juicy payments every year just for owning the land, no need to grow anything.
