1. She wasn't much of a P.M but she was also welcomed warmly in Australia. The current dear leader isn't even recognised as a diplomat same goes for his army friends.

Seems the British don't follow the Australians.

The British and Australians have precisely the same view of the military Junta and its puppet government.Restore democracy and hold early elections.

That's not what chooka was contending.

My reply highlighted the difference.

Ergo, not precisely the same view.

2. The United Kingdom Members of Parliament, Roger Godsiff, Graham Brady, and David Amess, have paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand
Looks like a very cordial and friendly visit between the two allies.

3. US man probed over parcels containing human parts

Leaves for Cambodia, vows to return; says he found the parts in Bangkok and was sending them to "spook for fun"

4. Surapong - why do I dislike him so much ?

In the same basket as Chalerm and Tarit

The same reason many a yellow dislikes him, the man speaks truth

Indeed. He has assured everyone of that himself:

April 3, 2014 (ThaiPBS)

Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul hinted of possible violence by red shirt supporters of the government in case the Constitutional Court ruled...

He said what he spoke was not intended to intimidate the court but is the truth, adding throughout his life he never tells lies.

Good. Surapong is a fair and decent man

Same as the above confirmation by the man himself, I'm sure if one searches a bit, that an article can confirm your assessment with a declarative statement by Surapong stating that he is a fair and decent man.

6. BANGKOK A British man who reportedly lost 10 million baht in a fraud scheme was found dead in his guesthouse room in Chiang Mai province today.

The description of the particular guesthouse involved indicates just how far the deceased had dropped in financial resources.sad.png

Rooms range in price from 100 Baht (cold water bathroom outside) to 400 baht with hot water, bathroom, and TV.

http://www.chiang-mai.org/inter-inn-hotel.html

So what? The man has died, does it matter how much his accommodation cost?

A couple of things.

One, what may not interest you can interest others, AKA forum discussion. Snarky posts, like yours, detract from that.

To me, the accommodations where he was staying reflected, very succinctly, how much he had lost.

It's also interesting, when looking at the past news stories, that this particular lodging had a very similar story just last year when another farang, who was also down and out, had died prematurely in his room same as this man. It's a reminder that this thread's deceased man's sad story is not unique.

Anyway, IMO, it was worthy of noting.

7. Has the deceased been named yet or is he still just "Oxford graduate" according to our accurate, informed and trustworthy Thai police source?

If you cared to read the thread before hitting the keyboard...........................coffee1.gif

What? All 14 pages, I have scrolled through it and all I can find is someone called Jungle Jim Bob, who is fat, and into holding down hookers.

What is his name for Pete's sake? Tell me. annoyed.gif.pagespeed.ce.EWbqpZ7s0b.gif

Wow. Just got back from a week-end away and staggered to return to this thread, and see that, hundreds of posts later, the deceased still has not be identified.

He was identified way back on Page 1 by name and photo, as well as some follow-up posts on his background, a sample of his music, etc.

Those posts were deleted, except for:

Oh well, I'm sure the information I posted will be available in the morning when the rest of the English news catches up.

It is substantiated, but, whatever.

Anyway, RIP to the deceased. He was a good singer.

Oh well, perhaps when his interesting background, name, and photo, is eventually posted again by someone else, there will be a few more hundreds of posts discussing those out of the ordinary aspects.

8. ^ ^ Not saying that what happened to this man wasn't terrible or tragic.

Just wished to comment on the inaccurate broad and sweeping statements that were inserted into the discussion.

Not wanting to detract any further from the core discussion, I will end here with, suffice to say, psychopathology is absolutely not nationality based.

Maybe it is cultural then. Duh......
It is not.

Try to understand the word "psychopathology" be misusing it (which started all of this). Duh...

.

If you don't recognise that a common trait of psycopathology is a lack of empathy for other and that this is can be seen in Thailand quite commonly, that's up to you.

Next time you are on the bus and you ask the driver to slow down, and he mumbles "farang bpaa". Just chalk it up to cukture. I guess if he wraps u round a tree it doesn't matter if its thainess or mild psycopathic behaviour if you are dead.

I beleive Thainess, particularly regarding their treatment of farangs, exhibits mild psycopathic traits.

Instead of arguing blindly that it can't be true, I would prefer you give me some good examples, because the news in Thailand is chock full of stories daily that show an absolute disdain for a fellow human being.

A good place to look for understanding the word is a dictionary.

Not only will it tell you the true meaning (which is not how you have been misusing it), but it will also correct your misspelling of it.

Seriously, I think you've sufficiently driven the issue into the ground.

Best to move on to some other aspect of this incident. wink.png

11. A basic trait of a psychopath is someone has no empathy for other people. There is an element of psycopathic behaviour in many Thais sometimes.

There is zero empirical evidence to suggest that any one nationality has any more incidences of psychopathology than another one.

You seem to think there is could simply be explained by the people you encounter in your own sphere of experience has a higher incidence.

Suggestion: Try experiencing a different circle of associates.

I completely disagree.

All I said was that a fundamental issue of a psychopath is a lack of empathy for others.

You said more than that.

Read the rest of your own post.

If you disagree with my statement, than I am very willing to review your clinical evidence that one nationality is any more prone to psychopathology than another.

If it's just based on a hunch or your own personal experience, that doesn't qualify as the scientific evidence you implied with your initial post.

14. This Plodprasob. Is this the "moored boats used to push water down the river as a flood alleviation measure" bloke?

Yes.

Yep, the same guy who thought raging urban flood waters could be controlled by boat propellers.

He's also the same guy who helped to destroy the very limited gene bank for tigers by supporting incestuous breeding at a tiger farm that sold the inbred tigers to China for human consumption.

Yet another of the Pheu Thai brain trust's great ideas:

CHIANG MAI SAFARI: Rare animals on the menu at zoo

Visitors offered daily buffet of lion, tiger, elephant and giraffe meat; conservation groups outraged. Lovers of wild cuisine are in for a treat when Chiang Mai's Night Safari opens next year, Project Director Plodprasop Suraswadi said yesterday. Visitors to the park's Vareekunchorn restaurant will have the option of tucking in to an Exotic Buffet of tiger, lion, elephant and giraffe, for just Bt4,500 a head.

15. If they send an "official" representative to meet the CDC they would be endorsing the process, hence no show.

1) exactly. And there is no reason for any Thai who is interested in actual democracy to either endorse or participate in this charade.

awwww gee... and now your Pheu Thai directly runs contrary to your point.

Obviously, Plodprasob, with all his grandstanding in the OP, didn't get the Skype message from Dubai.

November 15, 2014

The Pheu Thai Party yesterday advised the chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee of its willingness to meet with the CDC and provide input on the new charter.

16. He said that the party had not been officially invited by the Constitution Drafting Committee to present its input for the new charter apart from a telephone call to join the meeting with the CDC.

He wants a strippergram to make it authentic?

Apparently the nurse (or French maid) stripper gram made it through in the end.

The CDC had requested the party's cooperation.

Their response:

The Pheu Thai Party is pleased to cooperate and take part

As suspected, even the OP news service, Khaosod, has identified the deceased on their Thai language news website as the same identity posted earlier in the thread (and subsequently deleted).

Perhaps later today, their English language news website or another English language news website will do so.

R.I.P.

18. Born in Singapore, British father of Thai ancestory and a Chinese Lawyer for a mother.

How on earth did she qualify to ski for Thailand?

On the forum, she seems to qualify quite well for bashing of Thailand.

Unfair to criticize her?

It's not difficult to fathom.

Criticize her as an individual person, not for the portion of her DNA that happens to be Thai.
