Doc,
The post you deleted was intended to highlight the stupidity of OP original post and the subsequent responses.
Unlawful? I take your word for it.
-
This evening you mean? 18.28 at time of your last response. But quite cool at 65F.
-
FTT is used by Bangkok Bank PLC.
Not always Lop.
When my pension was paid direct into BKK bank it was converted into THB by Bank of Scotland. Code used was NBL.
I now use a different method and I tell the bank to transfer GBP (I am given a choice THB or GBP) and code used is FTT.
My “wife” holds an BKK account on behalf of her sister in Germany who regularly transfers THB. Code NBL.
Imm had no problem identifying NBL or FTT with a flourish of their yellow marker pens.

I don't mind parking 10 grand in a Thai bank, but if we decide after a couple years that we want to head back to the staes to live is that 10 grad fully acessable to us or have you ever heard of stories that the Thai government froze those type of accounts? Thanks again for any of your considerate replies!
Yeah.
Every so often when Thai government thinks there are too many foreigners around they freeze their bank A/Cs so the farang can’t withdraw to meet living expenses, or transfer further funds and therefore won’t qualify for a visa extension. And it's back to the US of A. Ever been there Vegas?

VEGASVIC. You fraud. Whats the weather like in Pattaya.
Next time remember to ensure your local time is set to Las Vegas time.

Thanks for your quick reply Dr. Pat! So my initial Visa application in the states should be an 0 Visa, then when we get situated in Thailand, all I have to do is to transfer about $10,000 U.S. over to a Thai bank account and do the proper paperwork and apply for a one year extension at a time based on me supporting my Thai wife. Just out of curiosity what type of one year Visa is it that you have to be 50 years old to qualify for, is that the case if you are not supporting a Thai wife? Thanks in advance again for your reply!
Succinctly put. You got it (or maybe you knew all along).
Over 50. Retirement. Married or single. 800k or 65k/mth.
Before you ask 30 day border runs (they are not visas) are for genuine tourists or those whose dubious/illegal/unsavoury activities make it unsafe for them to go within a 100 miles of a Thai consulate.
-
Because I personally know of several people with overstays of multiple years who just came back without any questions at all.
Some of then got arrested, locked up, brought before a judge and sentenced to a fine. Others managed to stay unarrested, showed up at the airport and paid their fine there and then.
In both cases the fine was the maximum 20.000 Baht, with added court costs in the case of the guy who got arrested!
Both of them obviously came back on new passports.
Are you exaggerating to make a point Monty. Exactly how many people do you know?
But gee-gee's story is risible.
Dr Pat makes the point that imm. don't care once a fine is paid (for once I don't know if his remark is made tongue in cheek). But OP asks about obtaining a visa which is MFA responsibility. They do care. I stick to what I say - not a chance if consul knows he has overstay. My opinion, yes. But these past 2 years there have been numerous statements and press reports about the governments determination to eal effectively with illegals. And all power to their elbow.

All the info you need (and more) is documented herein. Just use the search facility.
Forgive me if I am short but the there have been an awful lot of spurious posts recently and there are a couple of phrases you use that lead me to believe this is another. More articulate than most.

<deleted> are you asking on another thread about arriving for 32 days without a visa for ?
Maybe the offer of work he had been promised in order to obtain his B visa has been withdrawn. I doubt if I'd empoy him as this thread demonstrates lack of computer skills, or basic the skill to use forum search facility or undertake research. He is also a poor judge of character since he mistakenly takes us for fools.
-
Yes. It's called a visa
My concern is he may be deemed to have invalidated his residence permit. Although if he's held it for 30? years I'm sure it can all be sorted out if he produces his court summons/subpoena. Lets hope he doesn't get a custodial sentence otherwise that will put him in a bit of a spot .
-
Doc,
A residence permit does not expire but OP will be in breach of conditions.
My question. He re-enters on non-imm visa so gets 90days. Will he have to go to immigration to get his entry stamp overstamped.
If he has the money and stamina he could do a quick trip to Thailand, get a new re-entry, permit and back in time for his appointment.
(There appear to be a lot of contrived questions in this forum recently - if this is for real I apologise to OP.)
-
You do not need to leave Thailand ever again.
Get single entry non-imm O visa based on marriage in OZ. On arrival get stamped in for 90 days. No earlier than 60 days after you entered go to immigration with all your documentation and request extension to 12months. It is at that time you need to show proof of 400k being transferred from abroad. Sadly not issued whilst you wait and you'll be told when to return. Return to immigration no earlier than 335 days after you first entered the country and repeat. Bob's yer uncle. It really is that easy.
You can initally get a 1 year multi-O and do the same. You can extend on your Ist or 2nd or 3rd etc entry. Up to you. You will just be wasting your time and money.
-
Similar to marriage. 400k in bank or 40k/mth income.
Application for further stay for an alien father or mother to support children who are Thai Citizen
Required Documents
Immigration form 7
A copy of passport
A 4 cm. X 6 cm. Photograph
1,900 baht application fee
Evidence indicating the parental status; birth certificate or a judical Custody order of the child
Evidence presenting financial status:
Bank pass-book, bank statement certifying amount of money in the applicant's account, a certified documents of money transferring from oversea or evidence of income with related documents
A record of interviewing the applicant
The officials reserve the rights to examine or ask for additional documents if necessary

But it seems unlikely that entry will be refused on the basis of having had overstay.
As long as he gets himself a proper visa (tourist or non-o) from a Thai Embassy / consulate in his home country, the chances are small to get refused!
He paid his fines (I assume, since he is out of Thailand at the moment) so his slate is supposedly clean.
They don't differentiate between 2 days, 1 month or 5 years overstay.
If he's daft enough to use the passport he had when he exited Thailand, which I assume imm. endorsed, you can guarantee he'll be refused. New passport - no prob, I'd say.
On what do you base your assertion they don't differentiate between 2days and 5years?

thanks lopburi3 and Seenall.learnt nothing
My visa is a "visa on Arrival" so it looks like i have to go to Vientiane
btw what is webside for Nong Khai Imm, thanks
No you will not have a "visa on arrival". You enter visa free and receive permission to stay for 30 days.
www.imm.police.go.th/nongkhai
or
www.nongkhaiimmigration.com
If you are still in OZ, consider obtaining a 60 day tourist visa by post.
-
Apologies.
I am wrong. Website make no reference to 30 day entry stamps (My comment applies to "visas on arrival" which is not the same thing).
I did not intend to contradict Lopburi. His reply overtook mine. I had my reply typed in before he posted but I was distracted by more weighty issues (where to go for a pint tonight) for 20 mins before pressing "send"
-
Yes there is an Imm. office. No they do not issue extensions to 30 day entry stamps.
Source Nong Khai Imm website.
-
My friend had a case where on a non immigrant visa he was stamped in for 30 days when it should have been 90.
Eligible for 30 days but receive 90 day stamp. Must pay 60 days overstay fine or
Eligible for 90 days but receive 30 day stam. Must pay 60 days overstay fine.
OP was told by imm. officer that is was half his, half their mistake.
So your friend has his answer. Split the difference and exit after 60 days. No fine. Let us know how he gets on.

Good idea to get the transfer slip, some imm offices are fussy.
Get a bank letter ( standard letter - the bank will know ) on the morning
prior to going to immigration,
My experience with Bangkok Bank Uttaradit branch (central Thailand)
1. They require nearly a week as those letters are orderred and not made there (order friday pick-up maybe next wednesday but to be sure told thursday)
2. Needed me to give them a copy of what I wanted as they insisted it would be in english and .... (I suppose for Thais applying for a foreign visa) Long discussions on the letter, its contents (I insisted needed to mention the balance and also that the transferred funds came from outside Thailand) They seem to find it 'strange'
4. Was charged 200 B up front
Bangkok Bank issue a standard computer generated document.
Got mine on the spot but some branches, I understand, require you return next working day. 200B. Does not specify that the funds come from abroad. As Lop says Imm can see that from passbook.
You have confused your bank by asking for a non-standard letter.
The letter need not have been issued on same day as you visit imm. For some who do not have a local imm. office that would be impractical. Mine was 3 days old.
Slightly off-topic. For retirees Nong Khai immigration website specifies:
5.3 The bank balance statement not more than 6 months old.
I think it should read 6 DAYS

I am sorry to say, ngainfish, that you and your fellow Business English students (oh yes) need to try a lot harder.
I can't even be bothered to think up a riposte 'cos you ain't funny this time.
I do find amusement in that Sunblest Asia obviously ain't sure what to make of you.
My smilie is holding uo 2 fingers

Your appalling English is the giveaway.
This is obviously a genuine post from an Australian.
But keep 'em coming.
Enables me to reply without upsetting serious posers posters such as SBK.

I can confirm your friend is misinformed.
-
really 7 to 14 days? ( or 11 days?)
I heard about companies(employer) can do in about 3-4 days!!??
Did you? Well you know where to go then.
-
H'mmm, summat not quite right here,
You seem a little ill-informed for someone who has already managed to set up their own company. I strongly suggest you speak with a legal firm who should advise you that you obtain your no-imm visa BEFORE you apply for WP.

Possibly ridicules you. MAYBE
Unlawful? NO. Definitely NO.
Before you knock me off the forum have the courtesy to provide the evidence for your assertion OR APOLOGISE.
I challenge you to publish my post and explain it's illegality. If you make it clear the post does not represent your view it is legitimate comment under Thai law.
As the Doc has removed the post there is no way you, dear reader, will have the opportunity to decide.
