  1. I have reason to believe the post is genuine.

The arrest was made about 6 weeks ago.

I hope, Tonyla, that by now have realised that this forum is largely dedicated to helping illegals emain in the country, not getting them out.

My guess is you are not in Thailand, but even if you were there is nothing you can do unless you can afford to pay for legal representation.

  2. Maestro, CM Daddy

I confirmed in my last post I am back on the medication (comes cheaper in 0.66 litre bottles). And much the better for it.

Jovial fellow? Me? I don't recognise that description.

Next time I see my Doctor I'll ask if he's concomitant. He'll probably ask me to check his pulse and then give me 80baht to certify his concomitance is no longer infectious.

Forgive my belicosity, but can you really believe the OP's sense of indignation? Repeated TR visa trips and then, god forbid, being asked how he is supporting himself. How appallingly Thailand treats those upon whom it's thirld world economy depends.

And as for sierra01. I make more sense, and without the need of artificial stimulants..other than my medication (cheers).

    Til the next time..... :D:o

  3. jflundy.

Actually drawing out money in UK from an ATM on a Thai a/c will give you a far better rate of exchange than exchanging cash at the tourist rate.

I have not seen the signs at Don Muang but am advised (just spoken to a neighbour who works back of house for BKK Bank) that exchange controls in Thailand were lifted (long ago she says). She suggests 50k may the limit below which you do not have to disclose the origin of the money, and will get back to me.

  4. Endless nights.

Under US law you are required to enter/exit US on your US passport.

So that is what you must do. I suspect your mum just wants you to stay at home with her -I am serious.

    Lopburi,

Don't write cr*p. Neither hundreds nor thousands of people do this every day. And even if they did I hardly think they would be rushing to inform this site.

  5. To avoid having to take out cash as Thaiflyer suggests, you could open a second Thai bank account and pay the cash into that. Get a visa electron card with the a/c (easy) and withdraw the cash in UK at virtually any ATM. OK you pay bank commission but you don't need to plan too far ahead, although you will need to take into account the daily withdrawal limit. You could even have the money transferred directly from your second a/c to your UK a/c but never having done that I don't know what questions are asked.

I have an idea the 50k cash limit has been relaxed/abolished but you may have to provide certification from a bank that the money was originally brought into the country, or otherwise prove it was legitmately obtained, to prevent money laundering. I've tried to check my facts before posting but easier to get somebody to contradict me as I'm off for a shandy or three. :o .

Thought...may be on the Bank of Thailand site

Anyway you've plenty time to look at the options.

  6. Homer Jay,

You are not getting a raw deal. What you are being asked for is evidence you are not employed in LOS. You describe yourself a perpetual (tourist) visa runner so suspicion is there. If you are employed, tough. If not take the embassy advice and put some money in a bank or provide evidence you are supporting yourself without working.

  7. Amended so it makes sense

I was going to query your multi-entry after checking with the London embassy website where it specifies Single Entry.

But heh ho! Look on application form and it says multi available for 90GBP.

What is interesting is that downloadable medical cert does NOT NOT include alcholism. It is a requirement for when you extend here. But fortunately any Thai doc can ascertain this from checking your pulse for 3 secs.

Why would immigration believe that in space of one year in LOS you could degenerate into a chronic alchoholic. Beats me.

    Enjoy your retirement here b-bob.

  8. Well Hans,

Don't hold your breath. If you get clear and concise response from Brazil, Chille, South Korea and Peru.

I think Thaiflyers MFA extract is clear (as mud).

    For example:

passport holders....do not require a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes if their stay in the Kingdom does not exceed 30 days.

    4. Brazil

List of Countries which have concluded agreement on the

exemption of visa requirement for holders of diplomatic

or official passport or service/special passport with Thailand

and permitted to stay for 30 and 90 days

    90 DAYS

    5. Brazil

List of countries which have concluded agreement on the

exemption of visa requirement for holders of ordinary

passport with Thailand and permitted to stay for 30 and

    90 days

    90 DAYS

    1. Brazil

So tourist 30days. Otherwise 90days. Maybe.

  9. and then I'll be looking to move on to something better paid......before my visa comes up for extension, although I will have a job and a work permit already by then.

    Well, there's confident.

OK. Here goes. I'll risk being shot down in flames.

The inference is you are married.

    If you are not married:

You refer to teaching. You need a B visa to get a work permit if in paid teaching employment unless married to a Thai. With B visa the minimum income does not apply to teachers (although they wish it did).

  10. Tonyla,

In the circumstances you describe I would be very upset and angry.

As Lopburi has stated contact your friends embassy. They almost certainly know of her situation. If you do not have an embassy you will need to find out which embassy represents her country.

Frankly there is very little you can do except visit and take toiletries etc. This is possible but you can't just turn up. Your friend must request permission for your visit.
