Technically, it's illegal for anyone to sell fireworks to the public, so the answer is, technically, nowhere.
Thanks - because every man and his dog seems to be setting them off this time of year, I just assumed they were legal!

There used to be an American boxing instructor called Michael Bonita teaching at the small gym near the railway station (closed down now). Tall, lanky, silver haired guy with a moustache.
Wanted to catch up with him but Phone and email are no longer working. Anyone know if he's still around in Chiang Mai?
Send me a personal message if you prefer.
Thanks

Depending on where you live, you may need to use an air conditioner (some peoples apartments are just too hot because of their design, location etc.).
However, you can set the aircon temp much warmer if you use a separate fan to blow directly on you.
You can get an effect nearly as good as aircon by just wearing damp shorts, T-shirt and a fan blowing. It's even better than buying one of those 'swamp coolers'.
When you shower, don't leave the water running. Lather and rinse in stages and you can save running hot water by about 80%.
Switch all your fluro lights out to LED as they die.
If there's a regular place you like to order takeaway, bring your own reusable containers.
Just a few that come to mind. These aren't gonna suit everybody, obviously!

If you've seen this for sale at any pharmacy or health food store in central Chiang Mai, please let me know where.

In 12 yrs I've been pulled over once, for doing an illegal U-turn.. You must be a very average rider ????????
Think it depend a lot on where you ride. I live very central and once they see my bushy beard they just think $$$. I avoid the well known traps and haven't been pulled over for ages, but today I was in a hurry and I paid the price!

Need to hire or buy couple of those traditional Thai silk/satin 'coats' that Thai men wear at weddings or formal occasions. Don't know what they're called. High collar, cloth buttons.
If anyone can recommend a formal hire or tailor that does this sort of thing I would appreciate it.
Picture below

Well, lucky for me, the first 100 times I was pulled over by a Thai cop, they didn't know what they were doing!
It's funny how pissed off some of them were when they couldn't fine me, and then hunting around the bike for other reasons to try and get some baksheesh. All the while it was there for the taking!!

I don't know if this is new. All I can say is that today was the first time I've encountered it in the last 10 years.
Pulled over on my scooter at the trap going north on the moat before Tapae Gate (as happens on to me on a regular basis). Pull out my International drivers. Once I pull it out, most cops just wave me on without even looking at. This guy opened it up to the photo page without even looking at the cover to check expiry. He points straight to the section showing vehicle types and says I'm only authorised to drive a car, not a motorcycle. 200B fine with paperwork.
I have a question; Does a regular Thai drivers license give you the right to drive both cars and bikes? In other words is there any marking on a Thai licence that says you can drive either a car or a bike or both?

I can suggest an easier and alternative method that does a great job.
I use this method just once a week, mainly because its an absolutely disgusting taste and want to finish asap.
Bicarb soda and a squeeze of lemon juice. Just a teaspoon of bicarb then a few drops of lemon and make a paste.
Then collect it up on your toothbrush.
You know that expression "no pain no gain"
This applies perfectly.
I had the laser treatment done for 10k, ten year since, possibly the biggest waste of money ever.
Thanks for the feedback. Tried the baking soda method in the past but it didn't work for me. Professional whitening is just too expensive long term. I wanted to try the charcoal/bentonite clay method because it had a lot of positive feedback and kind of makes sense when you think about how these compounds are very good at absorbing various chemicals.

Has anyone seen this type of product for sale in CM? Some say it works well.
I saw some sellers on Lazada but I think the chances of getting brake dust from China might be slightly less if I purchase it from a chemist or cosmetics shop locally.

We have 2 Filtex FT-220 5 filter setups. Easy to plumb under sink, comes with a pipe thread adaptor and small valve so you can turn off the water to change filters.
In our Tessaban we only change sediment filters twice a year. Change charcoal taste filters at the same time. Works well. Filters available at many outlets - get ours at HomePro or Big C Xtra.
And when you leave, take it with you.
The under sink area has poor access here so I think an under counter option would not work.

I'm renting so an 'on tap' system like those made by Brita seems to make the most sense (but open to suggestions).
I have seen Brita on tap systems selling on Lazada, but there seem to be many coming from China at ridiculously low prices (obviously fake) so I think it's better to buy from a reputable store..
I used to use the water machine in my building (maintained by another company, not the building owner) but noticed a white residue where the water has splashed and dried.

Anyone seen this around CM? This is usually available in hardware stores in Aus. I don't live near a hardware here so I thought I'd ask before making a trip.
-
I've never seen it on the supermarket shelves so I've been bringing it from overseas. Usually comes as a powder and is sometimes used to soak nappies but it's not like ordinary bleach which comes as a liquid and will fade colours.

Big thanks for pointing out about new location.

I've never done a tourist visa extension at Promenada. Aside from my passport, will I need to bring photocopies, photos, forms etc. or can I get everything on site?
Also does there tend to be a cutoff time (e.g. office closes 4pm but you can't queue after 2pm?)
-
I realise it's silly to leave an extension application to the last day but I screwed up with my dates.
I'm on a tourist MEV. I could do a border tomorrow but would prefer not to.

I get this one and all the other supplements from iherb.com
Thanks. I've spotted it on Lazada but didn't recognise any of the brands. Will have to have a look around some supplement shops.

Has anyone seen this supplement for sale at pharmacies or health food stores?

Have an MEV. Scheduled to fly out of the Kingdom 6 days after my last 2 month entry expires. Is there a 7 or 14 day extension?

Have you tried the Samsung service shop, North side of the moat?
Thanks, I hadn't even thought of that.

Anyone seen a relevant repair shop at Panthip? Would be a lot closer for me.

Have a Samsung convection microwave oven. Moderate use and still running very well. The start button has stopped functioning. Seems a shame to throw it out without at least getting a quote on a repair.
Can anyone recommend a shop?
Pharmacy supplying Esidep / Esopam / Cipralex / Lexapro (Escitalopram)
in Chiang Mai

I understand that Escitalopram can be purchased here without prescription. If you know a pharmacy that sells this, could you please let us know. Would prefer Esidep or Esopam as I believe these are cheaper local made equivalents.
Send me a personal message if you prefer.
Thanks
