  1. "It won't happen to me. Things like that happen to other people"

I reckon this is the default setting.

And there are many more who would come if the Thai Embassy wern't such a bunch of to deal with. Friends of mine have had two trips so far and told only half of what they reuire paperwork wise and now making a third trip to get extended visas and they are travelling 200 mile round trips each time. Why because the consulates have been stopped from issuing some types of visa. They do the same for us here in Pattaya at immigration, you take the paperwork they ask for but then when you go they have changed some of the rules so you have to get more paperwork. One that gets me they tell you to get two copies of each and then give you the second copy back

  2. “In the meantime, security officers will have to exercise their judgement, based on appropriateness of the situation how much tea money is paid,”

What a ridiculous situation, which will result in a 6 month feeding frenzy for all local officials involved.

Put the onus on the bar owners, make them check ID to see the age of the person they are serving and if they serve unage people give them a heavy fine forst time and threat of colsure for a repeat offence. Same with drunks that it is the responsibility of the bar owner NOT to serve anyone who comes in drunk

  3. I had forgotten to register so yesterday I signed up the the ais E-service using the missus's id number (would accept my passport number, needs to be 13 digits)to see if that "registers" my sim.

dialled *151# on the phone this morning and yep, says my sim is registered.

I registered within two days of the announcement so I did not forget. But thought I would double check by using the *151# just in case and YES all OK

  4. Hundreds in five pick up trucks? cheesy.gif

The way they pack people in trucks I can imagine the all fitting in. However i do believe that bar owners should take responsibility when it come to serving minors as it is not all about profit but being a responsible owner. If a person has had one over the top bars should refuse to serve that person any more drinks. If owners did this it would cut down on many drink related problems and perhaps the junta would not have imposed the drinking laws

  5. And if you believe this, you will believe anything.

Just open your eyes and have a look around. There has definitely been less tourists here over the past year or so.

More tourists, WHERE????? come to Pattaya and businesses are closing weekly if not daily because of the lack of tourists. It is starting to become a ghost town

  6. You have got to be kidding!! blink.png

I don't know if still the same in the UK that Police can only stop someone if they are breaking the law, such as speeding or faulty lights etc. In the past then and only then coud they ask someone to give a breath test. A random police check point in my opinion does not qualify. As for remembering senior officers number plates that is open house on them getting drunk, driving in the knowledge they will NOT get stopped

  7. Pattaya is no longer an inexpensive destination and as tourist numbers decline businesses seem to increase their prices.

Pattaya needs to refurbish its image and get rid of some of the seedier elements - like hundreds of bar girls standing on Walking Street trying to attract customers.

To clean up Walking Street would meant the authorities admitting there is prostitution in Thailand and we all know this is not the case Ha Ha

  8. OMG, how will people know you just bought a brand new car?

How far behind this country is compared to the West. We have been buying car in the UK for many, many years fully registered on the day of delivery, what is the problem.Talk to the DVLA in the UK and they will show you how it is done, so bloody simple. This will probably come into force sometime in the next 10 years as they have to THINK about it. So sad, so simple

  9. Thailand does the same. Break the law and you are in prison until you can fund your own deportation. We all know this and understand the consequences of breaking the law.

It is time that immigrants to "Western" countries with all the benefits they are awarded, said "thanks" and behaved.

I don't agree with his crimes but 1) Does he have a Thai passport 2) Will the Thais recognise him as a citizen of Thailand or in both cases send him straight back to the UK

  10. The Thai mantra, is greed.

My thought on those coming purely for treatment from abroad know in advance the type of cost involved so it is there choice. On the other hand most ferang living in Thailand are on pensions of limited funds and should be treated as Thai's. I have told my partner that if I need to go to hospital I want to be taken to either Banglamung or Sattahip where they have prices I can afford. Example 7 yeas ago I was quoted 50,000Bt for a hernia op at Pattaya Memorial and ended up paying Bt7,800 and Sattahip for the same op and that I could afford

  11. Whilst the 400 baht fine will not break the bank I would like to avoid another one in the future.

Easy to avoid, Don't break the Law.

Its not that easy, travel from Pattaya to the airport and most of the road is 120km but them all of a sudden for a short stretch of road it goes to 90km and then back to 120km. If you miss seeing the 9m sign then you are in trouble. A friend of mine got dtopped and they said they had the photo to prove his speed, got fined 1,500Bt and promised they would send a copy of the photo to him which they did, trouble was it was NOT his car, try getting a refund nO that tea money has been spent already

  12. Yes. I am a farang with Diabetes. I use Novo Nordisk Penfill Insulin. In Pattaya, Bangkok hospital the price for 1 ampul is 270 THB. At the same hospital in Korat, Bangkok hospital, the price for the exact same ampul is 790 THB. Anybody who can explain to me why there are this difference in the price. Novo Nordisk can not, The hospital can not. Maybe the Government can. But it seems that they just charge whatever they want. I think that it is a disgrace with this difference in the same hospital.

Seven years ago I had a Hernia Op and at Pattaya Memorial would have been Bt50,000. Went to Sattahip hospital a few days and had the same Op for Bt7,8000 just a small difference of Bt 42,200

  13. lol, my step-son just paid 3,000 baht (tea money) to get his drivers licence, just north outside of Phichit.

When I found out that his Mom gave him the money, I was mad a hell. And she said this is the Thai way!

That is one of the big problems, Thai's just stand back and let it happen saying as your wife did " it is the Thai way " why don't they stand up for their rights

  14. Lets hope that the BIB doesn't tell the 19 year old victim that " You can't Rape the Willing," or words to that effect, because it's par for the course in the LOS.

That's why so many young farang female rape victims don't even bother reporting the sexual assault..

Why be raped, then abused-re-humiliated all over again?

She would have had to die, and the case go viral for the BIB to get real serious and find the Perp.

Remember the young lady from Scotland?

    And the Beat Goes On..

Welcome to sunny Thailand the Land of Smiles and continual reports of crimes against ferang. This will really boost tourism
