  1. I am aware that you can take $20,000 or £12,000 out of the country no problem. In my case I need to take out £14,000. Now if you are taking out more than £12,000 you have to inform a customs official. Where do I find him/her? Is there a special spot they sit at in the airport? The funds have come from the sale of my house. I have the company closure ( cost me 35,000 to close the company, blimey that threw me a bit ) receipts, tax paid, transfer etc so it is all above board. The bank, SCB are being a right pain about transferring some money, I don't think they have a clue yet they deal with international banks, so I will just take cash in my pocket, get a better deal at Vasu anyway. So if any TV member has come across this customs official can they please let me know where he/she camps out?

    Thanks.

  2. I was in a taxi last night round about 12.30am happily going down soi62 to my condo when we

were cut up by a red Toyota and 3 guys jumped out and pulled me out the cab and demanded

the contents of my wallet. <deleted>? Yep, give us all your money or it ain't gonna be pretty.

As for that incident it is bye bye Thailand for me. Good job I have sold my house and

    Thailand can go f... itself.

  3. Either will do. I can get the cash out of the bank obviously and change into £'s, bit dodgy having £15k in your pocket but hey ho or transfer to my UK bank account but nowadays the banks need to know where more than £10k has come from due to laundering/funding terroists and a few more reasons I expect.

  4. I need to change baht to £'s, which bank does the best rate? I looked at vasu as I could change it into cash but they are selling at baht/£ 51.55. I would like a bit better than that. Plus, how much can I take out of Thailand in cash? I think I saw somewhere $10,000. Correct?

I knew an access number to pre dial before I dialled a UK number from my mobile thus giving me something like 1baht or so a minute but have forgotten it, can someone please let me know what it is?

    Thanks.

  5. There is a documented ( google is your friend ) case in America where this woman kept one as a pet. From what they can work out she let it out of its enclosure and it went under the sofa, as she was scrambling around trying to get it, zap, got her. Result : Dead. Another little known fact is that they have poisonous/venomous skin so if you are handling them with an open wound on your hands you will get a certain amount of that evil in your system, not enough to kill you but you will feel ill.

  6. I watch free TV series on a site called Shush.se They stream a good selection of TV series and have some good movies to choose from but they don't stream one of my all time favourite series i.e. Law and Order SVU. Does any BM know of other free TV sites I might be able to watch?

  7. I will need to spend a night in Sattahip, Tues 2nd December, so I can go to the land office early Wednesday morning ( I am in Bangkok ). I have been looking for hotels from the usual suspects, Booking.com, Agoda et al and they do list some but none of them are in Sattahip. They are 12kms, 15kms .........out of town. Sort of defeats the object really. So my question is, if I get the coach down Tuesday are there any local hotels

    in town so to speak?

  8. Are there any English/British dive schools left in Pattaya or are they all Russian now? I am thinking about

doing a PADI course and although I don't expect the Russians to be inferior it would be a language barrier

    thing.

  9. I am going to Vietnam next week so will need a visa. Been looking into the" visa on arrival" and there are numerous web sites advertising their services for a fee for supplying a letter pertaining to the visa. Is this a scam? Surely it isn't necessary to have a letter, not sure what it will say as it will be in Vietnamese anyway, saying you want a visa on arrival when you land? It just brings to mind the scam web sites in the UK that guarantee to get you a E1-11 card for £10 but if you go to ukdirgov.org they issue it for free.

    Any views, experience?

    Have a good day.
