15 and younger to and from school racing bikes every day but teachers, police and parents do nothing. A complete waste of life and it's a disgrace.

Hit one of them though and you (thai or foreigner) are the one who is charged.

    Thread over in one post.

Nothing to add really, charge the parents with negligence and chuck 'em in jail for a while as a message and hopefully to save some young lives.

Throw the van driver in too because, well, he's a van driver and there's already enough of them on the roads...

  2. I wish the PTB would just order the release of all the heffalumps back into the jungles where they belong.

The ordeals inflicted on these beautiful creatures are horrific, it's not really surprising that they snap and go a bit wonky so often.

Same applies to slow loris, iguana, any type of bird and all the other exploited wildlife here. Ugh.

I guess this means you still use a PC/Laptop.
That's old tech. I haven't used a computer or needed one since the modern android smart phones.
Dying technology would be the correct term to use.

So when you are writing code or doing graphics and image manipulation what Android app would you recommend?

  4. Another vote for B-Quik from me.

I don't have experience with the Chalong branch but I've used the one in Thalang for the last few years for aircon, tyres, oil (engine and gearboxes), brakes, shock absorbers and so forth on our cars and they've always been fine.

The nice thing is that they seem to always have the bits they need in stock, probably because the cars are very common models (a Jazz and a D-Max).

No, the costs for foreigners are not inflated. The OP has a choice of hospitals, some more expensive than others.
At OP, check out Mission hospital. Private but a lot cheaper than PIH and BPH.

At Vachira they are; they said that they charge ~3x the normal price if you are a foreigner when I was asking about a cataract op.

After researching around I went to the govt hospital in Phang-Nga and got it done - service and care were absolutely superb. Everybody spoke enough English to make exactly clear to me what was going to happen at each step of the surgery (I don't trust my Thai language enough to deal with medical stuff) and I am blessed with binocular vision again at less than a third of the price quoted to me by Vachira.

  6. You can get an A4 sized flatbed scanner which will scan to multi-page pdf, jpeg etc from Lazada for less than 2,500 Baht, I doubt you'd be able to find any shop that would scan a book for less than that.

Get the scanner and a good bottle of something tasty and spend a day (or weekend if it's a long book!) and have at it.

Just re-checked and there's another smaller "dcondo" just east of the main crossroads - that's the one that I was less than impressed with.

There are 3 developments using the D-condo moniker, Kathu/Patong, Creek and Mine.

The Patong one is on the right just past the junction if you go straight at the junction coming down from Patong, further down the road at the next junction is Creek and Mine is near to the Heritage housing project if you turn left past Creek and head towards town.

    The prices ascend Kathu/Patong>Creek>Mine.

FWIW we bought a unit when they were flogging off the last few unsold ones in Creek (which has a nice big pool, gym and is kept very tidy) and it has been easy to own and has been rented out continuously since we got it. Only downside is that the car parking can be a bit of a pain but they added automatic barriers and gave the owners a little gizmo to put on the dash of your car which will only auto-open the barrier to the section where your unit is, that seems to have helped a bit.

The management have been very responsive when needed but it's all still pretty new so time will tell how long it stays that way. We got an unfurnished corner unit overlooking the school playing fields at the back for under 900K, there are plenty of for sale signs in the windows of units there but they all seem to be asking at least double what we paid.

At the entrance to Creek there is a sales office for all 3 projects so maybe drop in there if you are interested and see what they say.

At least that's good news. They've created less of a disaster compared to the other company building underpasses...

But it's still going to take nearly three years.

Talk about damning with faint praise!

Our gardener armed with his trowel and trusty angle grinder would have done a better job than the 'other company' and I don't generally allow him to do anything more complicated than pruning the rhododendrons.

And even then he needs close supervision to prevent him from slicing his own limbs off or killing the electricity supply to the entire neighbourhood.

Hi McFarang, i need a Notarial Services Attorney in Rawai. Any chance you could tell me where the three in Rawai are? Google isn't being much help!

Bear in mind that (as mentioned upthread) any Thai police officer can certify a signature and act as a witness. The problem is that most of them don't know that they can do it and are nervous about putting their John Hancock on stuff.

Notary Publics are usually only certified for the jurisdiction in which they practice (I stand to be corrected on this), so depending on the type of document you will probably actually need a "certified correct translation" stamp or similar from a registered translation business with signature of the translator and company stamp, you can get that endorsed by any lawyer if you wish but they charge like a raging bull for doing it and it's not really worth it in most cases. There are a few such businesses on Phuket.

    Sorry, I'm a bit of a Luddite. What is a pop-under? I know what a pop-up is.

Opens a new browser window under the one you are viewing with the ads on it, sneaky and annoying.

I've added this to my Hosts file to stop my browser getting stuff from those pop-under sites:

    0.0.0.0 partner.phuket.net

I still get a window with "Cannot connect... " on it, but at least I don't have to read anything.

Sorry PG, but you really need to hire a decent web developer.

    Edit:

    PS. For radio, try http://www.accuradio.com

I use uBlock Origin and it has the same effect, still got a pop-under and that's annoying enough to make me avoid the PG site until they fix it.

Well, that and the fact that most of the content is rubbish and/or self-serving pablum.

  12. I'm never clicking on anything related to the PG. The pop-unders and ad scripts they run are ridiculous.

Let them continue being a conduit for dodgy condo developments and anybody else who throws them a few Baht, they aren't getting my eyeballs or ears.
