  1. Err.. yes I do partake in the odd tipple.....

But looking for a classic scooter to ride about during the day.

Have 3 here in the uk and the way the shitty weather has been over the last few months, haven`t had much use for them....

I have seen a few in Pattaya but only for sale not for rent.

And I thought you could get anything you wanted in Pattaya :o

  2. I am thinking about staying a few days/maybe a week in Hua Hin in July.

I have never been before and was hoping for a few recommendations on guest houses and were exactly to stay.

I have been looking on the net at Lamai Beach. Is this a nice area?

Also I am thinking of renting a Vespa while there.

Has anyone rented from Lamai Beach before?

    Thanks

    Paul

  3. No it wasn`t the only bar I went to :o .

Went to the Blues Factory but wasn`t impressed at all.

Didn`t get to Easy Rider this time but have been before.

Only stumbled on Climax after coming from the 19th hole after a few games of pool.

    Well impressed by the band.

Drink prices were ok considering there was a live band playing.

"well i suppose coming from peterlee it must have been good to find a half decent bar!", well you do have a point there :D .

Hoping to return in June and will certainly be going back to Climax (sounds a bit rude).

  4. Just spent 5 weeks in Thailand and 4 of them was in Pattaya.

On my first night I came across a bar in Walking Street called Climax.

I am a big Rock Music fan and could not believe how good the band was at this bar.

Playing everything for U2 to Jimi Hendrix.

I stayed every night until about 4.00am every night while in Pattaya.

If anyone likes live rock music this bar is a must!!!!!!

  5. Is it possible to buy sim cards after clearing customs/passport control?

I know it was possible at the old airport.

Any idea how much they are- had 1-2-call and was ok in January.

Sim cards can be bought just after you come through the exit doors after customs. There are AIS and DTAC counters there. I was told by AIS thaat they only sold 21day tourist sims for 1000 baht, :o

So I went to DTAC and they sold me a sim for 150 baht I also bought 200baht top up, and that will say active until late Dec., but as you add for top-ups the longer the sim card will be active.

So my suggestion is use DTAC if you buy from the airport.

    Thanks for that.

I will look out for DTAC tommorrow.

    Thanks

    Paul

  6. On walls windows etc.

Use neat bleach, leave for a week if it reappears treat again.

I worked as a painter for a number of years and this is the ONLY way to kill the spores before repainting.

Yes there are expensive treatments on the market but I never found any that worked.

    Usually condensation is the cause.

I would suggest opening doors and windows for as long as possible.

A dehumidifier would be great if you have the funds to buy one.

They are cheap to run but I`m not sure if it could be left running when you are away for weeks/months...

Also while away leave wardrobes open and do not put too many clothes in so as to allow air to circulate.....

  7. Ive done quite a lot of homework on this one, and the going rate for a renovated Sprint is between 50 and 80,000 THB.

I ruled them out at that price, as its comparable to the price at home.

You can however pick up an old knacker for just under 20,000THB and renovate it yourself, but i just didnt have the time.

    Where`s home?????

    80,000 Baht.......Get me one....

Dont know but you can try Motech in Byker. :o

Thats where my "Baby" is now having a malossi kit fitted.

    Get her back tommorrow.........

  8. If you are planning to export to the UK you must chaeck if it has engine and frame numbers!!!

If not you WILL NOT be able to get it on the road!!!!!

Friends of mine were caught out buying from Vietnam. The scooter looked fantasic but they could not register them as there were no numbers present.

If the numbers are present it is quite simple to register.

The Vespa clup of Great Britain will give you a dating certificate and all you have to do is pay the DVLC the fee, sorted. They even give you a nice black plate and no tax to pay...

I have and riden some quality scooters in Thailand and I must say they ride as good as a new px.

The level of resoration is as good if not better than the uk.

A good GS 150/160 would go for £4000-£5000 here if its a minter. Most are not!!!!!

Bridlington this weekend in the UK for Vespa show.....

  10. Niece said she was told by UK Visa Service at Regents house to go next door to visaworldconsulting....

This is email I got from Embassy.

Thank you for your email of 16 October.

As you have already suspected the gentlemen your niece is dealing with is a visa consultant and not a representative of the Visa Application Centre. Details of the documents required to support a Domestic Worker visa application are available on the Embassy website at :www.britishembassy.gov.uk/thailand or the Visa Application website at www.ukvac-th.com. The fee for a domestic worker application is Baht 6375.

I hope this clarifies the current situation.

Seems strange that she was told to go to an agent as all the relevant information was filled out and she had the visa fee!!

I suspect a con, possibly by persons working in ukvisacenter.......
